  3. Firstly sorry for the long post: Folks let’s not complicate this. The reason for the poll is several fold but is mainly just to gauge how people feel about competing this year should lockdown be lifted. Im sure many of us can’t wait to get out on track again, but we also have to consider that some people may feel differently and it’s too late in the season to compete in a full championship due to other commitments such as self employed businesses catching up on lost work, or others may have a lack of finance due to being furloughed etc etc and won’t turn out at all this year, so this is what we are trying to gauge. Firstly the immediate concern is the Blyton Weekend as clearly there is financial commitments for club in relation to it. We are obviously dependant on MSUK resuming permits in order for Motorsport to take place but even if they do, we don’t know if officials, medical and breakdown crews will still be available, ( or willing) without which we can’t tun. After all it’s no use committing to running the Sprint event if we have too few entries for the reasons above. The track day is an important part of the weekend for members and the speed series drivers as has been pointed out as many of our volunteers attend the track day the day before, but things are that odd at the moment the track day could go ahead and not the sprint or vice versa..... who knows. Let’s hope it both....before we all go stir crazy 😝.We will no doubt run a further survey once we have a better idea what’s happening. Of course IF we do run the sprint we will always be grateful to anyone who is willing to help out with marshalling etc etc especially if they have attended the track day the day before and are making a weekend of it. The purpose of the poll of registered competitors is also to gauge whether we are going to have a meaningful championship going forward, with plenty of people turning out for the remaining rounds as this obviously has an impact on the awards do at the end of the year. There is a lot of uncertainty at the moment and I’m aware that Terry is in contact with other clubs to see what their plans are as this also affects our championship too. If we can get an idea how many people will be turning out this year, this can be fed back to the other clubs as they are in a similar position to ourselves. So if you are a registered contender please complete the survey. If you are not then please feel free to indicate whether you will be attending any of the speed series rounds either for a track day, to volunteer, or even just to spectate. Thank you and stay safe.. Mark Anson SSOT.

  6. Hi all, I've just joined - so hello! I'm looking for a wide body, more a tourer than a balls-out racer. Something that's pretty well sorted, coated chassis would be good. I'd be interested to see what's about and in any tips or pointers that you might have to help out a novice! Thanks, W

  7. Thanks for the piccy - sorry, but I'm looking for an intact box that I can butcher at the ends for the roll bar diagonals - I don't really want to be joining two halves together Thanks anyway

  9. When I was first looking at buying a Westfield, I contacted Toy Box and looked on their web page. I was very disappointed with the experience I’m afraid. I was interested in 4 cars they had ‘in stock’- but strangely every model was ‘just sold’- really? I don't think so. more like their web site was never updated and the cars shown were clickbait. It’s a No from me

  11. If you can’t find the email, I think, by clicking on store, and either orders, or manage purchases, you should be able to see a copy of it, and pay from there. If not, give @Mark Redpath - WSCC Membership Secretary a shout, and the invoice can easily be re-emailed.

  14. i always wear ear plugs. after being in engineering for a fair few years there the fist things that i do when i get to work. so my advice as above if your wearing a helmet put some ear plugs in. and dont skimp on the quality. no point spending 400 quid on a lid to to protect your head if your going to be deaf for the sake of a few quid on a decent set of plugs

  15. 02 may 2020 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-52491210 "Neighbours with different lockdowns." Since 18 March all non-essential business has been closed (in Belgium). "All non-food shops have been closed too, which led to a bizarre incident in the neighbouring towns of Baarle Hertog and Baarle Nassau, where the border line runs through a bargain store called Zeemans. The Dutch half of the shop is open, but the Belgian half has been taped off, with customers unable to get to the men's clothing section." I'm guessing nobody breathes or sneezes across the shop's dividing tape. AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - "Two mink farms in the Netherlands have been put into quarantine after animals were found to be infected with the new coronavirus, the agriculture ministry said on Sunday, urging people to report any other likely cases in the animals. The mink, which were tested after showing signs of having trouble breathing, were believed to have been infected by employees who had the virus, the ministry said in a statement."

  16. Do not forget ears if your not wearing a lid. Tinnitus is a real thing. After years of misspent youth mine are not the best. I found out quickly the car gave me ear problems. So when I'm sans lid in the summer it's foam ear plugs and Howard eight slimline ear defenders. I must look like an absolute plum but it's all good fun. Whether I put the helmet on just depend on how fast I'll be going and traffic. The more there is, more chance of a helmet.

  17. Hmmm, perhaps rewording would be clearer. I will attend WSCC sprint/trackday weekend if it's on so answered Yes to 1. But I will not be competing - I will do the trackday and support running of the sprint competition.

  19. So having taxed the car to use as the daily driver I thought let’s just give her a quick check over , pull the dipstick out and oh! no oil as the end with the marking on has snapped off 😡 Why oh why ? Heard this happen to a few people over the last few months , so it’s not the daily driver for a few days as it’s sump off and fish it out time. So much for my bit of playing in the car.
