Hi all, So after parking the Westy in the garage in 2007 (and my old membership expiring) and then starting house renovation which turned into extension and then daughter is born and then 2nd extension followed by 2nd daughter and then loft conversion I am finally done (or broken!), so it's time to blow the cobwebs off the old neglected girl, strip it down and repowder coat and then rebuild it to what I always wanted first time around! Full cage, throttle bodies, widetrack some carbon maybe....... Unfortunately due to the lockdown it has come to a grinding halt again....😂 Here we go........ All the best all Glen2 points

I thought that was window from the house for viewing to start with! Love the daughter comments - I have one that adds special quotes regularly or tries to be helpful by passing me random tools or parts...but she also likes to say whilst out for a blatt "Faster daddy, faster..." so she is excused!2 points

For those wondering about the lack of progress, we’ll the truth is there has been very little. a few weeks before the Coronavirus lockdown kicked in I’d trailered the car to the exhaust fabricators to get the manifold made and unfortunately it’s been stuck there ever since. So I’ve been doing what few little jobs I can without a car in the garage. one of those tasks was the final welding on the rear uprights. The parts I’d tacked together were boxed up and posted down the road for them to be welded, and then returned again a few days ago all nicely TIG welded.2 points

Gents, Well we are still in lockdown, the virtual Skype meet worked well earlier this month, so i thought we could go for a repeat virtual meeting for May. I have deliberately set this up early to give folk a chance to familiarise themselves with Skype video calling. So for those that attended last time you should have a Skype notification, with meeting set in the calendar. For those that would like to give it a go, send me a PM with your email / Skype address and i will add you to the group chat. Think the Skype call can be accessed via web so you may not need to download the app. We will see! Someone more knowledgable than me will let me know. I would be concerned about air con being recirculating all the germs around the cabin , perhaps leaving the windows open a tad would help1 point

Generally speaking, I’ve got no problems with face masks, but I prefer the pilot and first officer to face forward at all times, especially takeoff and landing.1 point

I don't mind wearing a mask on a flight, as long as they're provided FOC - they are as rare as hen's teeth in UK at the moment. As for the rear facing seat goes it doesn't matter at all which way I face but I'm not sure that it is much use to prevent a miasma of viruses from drifting over from the seat immediately behind you. As for window seats, they're fine - I like to see how good my knowledge of the local topography is as I leave Blighty, and look at the scenery on approach to my destination. However since the only time my Good Lady and I have flown in the last twenty years it's been to and from Australia and for that journey I'll foresake the window seat for an aisle seat so that I can relieve my ancient bladder without climbing over sleeping fellow travellers. It's a bl**** long journey and any comfort you can get is to be valued!1 point

With Stoneleigh's postponement, or worse, we cannot hold our Club's AGM in the usual way, constitutionally, it has to be held between certain dates, and even if Stoneleigh does go ahead in August, it's too late for us. So after a great deal of deliberation, the committee has decided to plan for the AGM happening, provisionally, at the Blyton Park, WSCC round of the Speed Series, on Saturday July 11th. (Time, to be confirmed) As various things have to happen at certain times pre the AGM, elections included, we need a date to work around. Blyton is our plan B! Should the physical event not happen at Blyton, then we will use the same date to conduct a virtual AGM, instead. Details will follow closer to the time. In the mean time though, please see the thread in the members only section about the Committee elections, here: And note the changed dates for submissions and voting etc.1 point

Each has its advantages : PLA is easy to print, fast, detailed prints, but becomes soft at low temperature and is brittle when cold, ABS is hard to print, needs an enclosure to keep heat around the print, is troublesome to get sticked to bed, but is very tough, copes with heat and sands amazing, PETG is a bit in between, very tough, heat tolerant, but is prone to stringing (cobwebbing) and doesn't lead to as nice a surface, is a bit soft for nice sanding. I use all 3 of them, PETG and ABS for engine bay, PLA for desktop toys, one off jigs or indoor use. PETG gets nicer for big hollow prints than ABS (airbox or indicator pods were printed in ABS). I also use more specialized filaments (soft filaflex, or bronze loaded PLA...)1 point

Also note - by “Cortina”, Iain means Cortina geometry and fitment. So Westfield alloy or other uprights and suitable calipers would also work. 👍1 point
