we are still halfway through our house renovations and extention and due to the virus we havent started the loft which would of given us the extra room for the kids to have more room, desks in the bedrooms etc. So i have created the perfect learning space for the eldest daughter doing GCSE work. the camper, on the front garden, clean, quiet learning space. plus shes out of the way, bonus. how are you all managing to get through lockdown with kids.3 points

Hello First post on here in a very long time….. I’ve decided to sell my Westfield SE sprint/hillclimb car, or more accurately, project. Back story is that I bought this car in 1997 from Terry Nightingale, prominent second-hand Westfield dealer at the time. The car was originally from Guernsey where it was used for hill climbing. I enjoyed sprinting and hill-climbing it for a number of seasons then life took over and it sat in the garage. A few years later I decided to embark on a restoration so stripped it down completely, had it sand blasted and sent it to Motorsport Components Ltd when it was in Bolton to rectify the fatigue related issues, cracked trailing brackets, leaking rear axle etc. Whilst they were at it they strengthened those areas, and I then had it powder coated. Unfortunately, I ran out of motivation and it sat in the garage – which is dehumidified – and gathered dust. So, it will come as no surprise that I’ve decided enough is enough and it should move on. I’m not really interested in selling it piecemeal – I haven’t the time – but I would rather see it go to someone who will do something with it. Obviously under the current circumstances it will be impossible to come and view or actually buy it but if anyone is interested enough then I’m happy to provide information, pictures etc in the meantime. Specification: Chassis 1989 SE narrow body Live axle with Watts linkage, done by the aforementioned Terry Nightingale Strengthened rear trailing arm mounting points All suspension components, some renewed, most stripped down for painting. Cortina front calipers Prepared for floor mounted pedal box (OBP Motorsport new/unused pedal box included) 4 point harness mounts New one piece thicker aluminium floor panel, ready to go on, plus all the old aluminium panels Drivetrain SPR/Roger King built AX block 1800 crossflow, high spec racing engine, includes dry sump, twin Weber 45 DCOEs. About 160bhp, but obviously not run for a long time. AP Racing lightweight sintered clutch 4 speed Rocket box with straight cut close ratio gear set and aluminium bell housing English axle, Quaife ATB LSD, strengthened trailing arm mounting points, drum brakes. Bodywork Nose cone, bonnet, scuttle and front cycle wings that came with the car. When I raced I modified the original tub to take wider wheels, but when I started this restoration I decided on returning to standard width so acquired a slightly damaged tub which you can see in the pictures. The original I sold on at the time. Other bits Windscreen, unused/unfitted tonneau cover, dials, wiring harness – everything as dismantled from the car. All nuts bolts bagged and labelled, new rivets etc. Trailer Single axle engineer built, galvanised steel and aluminium trailer, needs a bit of TLC but included if you want it. Finally, and an important thing to note: this car has never been registered or IVA’d, so no V5. It does have a (very old) RAC MSA logbook. Price £3,000 ono for everything listed above.1 point

Yeah, although I've always had either a slightly smaller or even occasionally no front plate on my Westfields, the rear has always been perfectly legit. It's hard to justify anything else.1 point

I think I will have a look for the aluminium header tank/heater return pipe first, then work from that. It looks a lot neater that way. Yours looks really good. Thanks for your help.1 point

David - I would take very good car of your car collection and maintain them very well I really ought to. It certainly made me consider death a lot more than I ever have, what would I want to happen etc. I cant imagine will whitnessing and all that to be particualrly easy with social distancing to thats been my excuse not to explore it further yet - but I imagine there are plenty of tech ways around this.1 point

Interesting that Dave mentions people with long backs. I've got a long back, and I found the sport seat simply didn't give me enough support, so although they look fine and feel comfortable on first sitting in them, like Dave I got cramps in my leg after driving much more than 30 or 40 minutes, and by an hour and a half they would be very uncomfortable, oddly always for my right leg in particular. I can't speak for the sport turbo as i've never sat in one, but I did find the JK Composites very comfortable, and once I bolted the seat back to the bulkhead via a suitable bracket they gave loads of support. I'm sure the Tillets would be equally comfortable, although I can't speak from personal use of those. Like has been said though, what is comfortable for one won't always be comfortable for another. We tend to differ in shape, a bit like recommending crash helmets!1 point

My wife and I haven’t changed ours but the kids now know where they are. I’ve made a sheet up of where all the investments are, all the utility suppliers/insurance, packs for each of the cars etc. We’ve also taken the time To clear out the loft, de-cluttered all our carp/kit that has accumulated over the last couple of decades ( just need the tips to reopen to finally get rid of it. Garden next!1 point

Hi all i am also looking for a set for my kit bodywork. If there is enough interest perhaps we could get some one to make them.1 point

I found an opportunity to start up the mega S2000. Looking forward to going for a run after lockdown is lifted....1 point

These folk are truly worthy of the epithet 'Hero' (Not a term I like to see applied to sportsmen/women as it devalues it IMO.)1 point

I’ve phoned several local petrol stations this morning, offering to store fuel for free in my 28l and 72l mobile fuel storage cells. They all refused and I got a visit from the police, telling me to knock it off. So much for trying to help - sheesh.1 point

Unless things have changed since I bought my seats, it is pretty much a father and son operation, so they may well be in lockdown. Either way, there won't be stockists, I don't think, they are their own stockists.1 point

... but not down back roads at 7pm on a Sunday using well over 10,000rpm! I've used the toy car for commuting and shopping a few times these last few weeks to keep it all running sweet, no harm done IMO.1 point

well someone has bid on them. Should dig mine out and see what they are worth, we’ll ... what’s left of them 😁 But honestly, good luck to the seller - there’s a saying up here - “shy bairns get nowt” 👍1 point

You've really no excuse to run a smaller plate on the rear, massive flat area to fit a standard plate! No excuses about not having anywhere to fit a standard plate like you have on a nose cone when the old bill stop you. Cost me £100 running a smaller front plate last year 🤦♂️0 points
