Just for fun, have a go and put up your video!! I tried and they are linked below. Endeavoured to make it funny but it is surprisingly difficult and I don't really sound like that do I? It was great to get into the Little Beast and do a warm up even though not allowed out on the road. Not to get too technical - I might show my lack of knowledge - Rover V8 3.5ltr 200BHP, carbs so smells wonderful, underslung exhaust, Powerlite starter with power cables from the national grid, and a very noisy Holly fuel pump! GO ON - HAVE A GO!!10 points

One of the very few benefits of being an "essential worker" is I got to use the Westie on Saturday to go into work! Three spaces to the left, you can see the remnants of when it took a petrol wee 4 weeks ago ππ It was lovely driving her despite it being only 6 miles of 30/40 limits... T-shirt and shades weather too for a change π Then spent the afternoon giving her a wash and polish, even got the autosol out in the exhaust5 points

The problem with this is that the media are using this to sell papers or add space. It was a day or so ago that claimed 51% of those in iTu or ICU depending upon where you are die. Suggesting this was awful. Without Covid the average death rate was just over 30%. Now all deaths are sad but those figures are nowhere near as bad, a 20% increase and remember last year over 20K extra people died from normal flu and not a change to how we lived. The other key thing after all this is seeing what the condition of people who died were in. From what I understand many were obese, had COPD or some other lung condition. Smokers feature pretty high and there appears to be disparity between men and women plus an apparent statistical blip in BAME patients. The papers always say "no underlying issues" but in reality that does not mean they had no issues. One for example died of heart failure from an unknown fault exposed by Covid_19. All needs to be published after a full a through assessment. There is also the way we live has clearly had an effect. The UK is densely populated in comparison to other countries and the two hotspots are unsurprisingly London and Birmingham area less dense have less cases. You also have to set these deaths alongside the results of the lockdown on mental and physical health, with increase of abuse and domestic violence. This is why we need to wait until this is over before we can see what worked and what did not. We also need to look at how vulnerable we appear to have been economically and also our ability to get products, Almost all the PPE comes from China and with lead times etc and quality is not always top notch hence the return of the testing kits the NHS was waiting for. We need to learn from this and make sure we are never in this position again1 point

Conversely, the countries that have done zero testing have had zero Civid deaths, so clearly they are doing way better than Everyone else..... Until the dust settles, the numbers are largely meaningless for comparisons.1 point

We'll know from Sweden who have done very little to lockdown their country. A per-capita analysis of their numbers in due course should make for interesting reading. At the moment they have 10918 confirmed cases with 919 deaths shows a mortality of just under 1% which is the number bandied about as what to expect in the final analysis.1 point

Be careful of the political angle too. I also read this: "Apocalyptic predictions that Britainβs coronavirus death toll will be the largest in Europe have abounded over the past week. The βscaremongeringβ began after a report from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME), based at the University of Washington in Seattle, suggested the UK could reach 66,000 deaths by August, peaking at nearly 3,000 a day, and accounting for more than 40 per cent of total deaths across the Continent. The figures were gleefully seized upon by the Left-wing press and emblazoned over front pages as evidence that the Governmentβs strategy has failed. Yet, within hours, British experts had branded the modelling as βabsurdβ, and by this weekend the IHME had revised down its estimate to 37,494 β and admitted it could be as low as 26,000 which is not hugely dissimilar to Imperial Collegeβs figure of around 20,000.1 point

Hi Paul. Yes I brimmed the tank late nov 2019 before Sorn but if the car is to be laid up for many more months I wished I had filled with a higher octane as you have stated. I'll remember that for future Eventually when I get back on the road I'll just take it easy until old fuel used up.1 point

It's a good idea to brim the tank before storing and make sure the tank is properly sealed (pop a pipe clamp on the breather - and of course a ribbon/note on the steering wheel to remind you it's there!). It's lack of vapour pressure and exposure to fresh air that kills the Octane rating and other light fractions in the petrol (which will evaporate off if the fuel tank isn't sealed), brimming it reduces the air volume the fuel can evaporate into and sealing the breather allows a pressure head to form and stop continuous evaporation over time. I'm not too strict personally but always fill up with super if the car has been stood for any length of time1 point

Or we could just be doing less testing. Stats can always be spun. For example, I know at least 4 people who are 99% sure they've had it (all the timings and symptoms add up) but haven't been tested, and only one person who has been a confirmed case. All 5 have recovered, only 1 of those will have gone down on the stats. Based upon that (albeit very small sample), out fatality rate is actually 1/4 of what that report shows.1 point

You need ventilation, not sealing. You will never remove the humidity in there without a dehumidifier or heating. If you just heat the garage you'll get mould on the cold walls/door. By sealing it, you're just trapping the humid air inside the garage, and as the temperature gets closer to dew point, all that moisture will just condense on any cold surface (usually metal first). It's highly unlikely that the air coming in is more humid than the air already in there (unless it's raining or foggy outside). My garage is partly inside my house, I had to insulate the door because the cold in there (although it never drops below 10 C) was causing a temp drop in my kids bedroom, but on the flip side because there's always heat leaking into the garage, I don't get humidity issues, I have a dehumidifier but it hardly ever kicks in. My shed on the other hand, no end of troubles, brand new shed, quite well sealed, damp all over the inside of the roof, black mould everywhere, I had to lift the roof slightly at the sides and fit extraction fans (3x 12v high speed fans, with a humidity sensor/controller).1 point

Those bits of wood are not safe... Be careful. You'd be better off with off cuts of roofing joists laid flat if you're using wood. If you've put the rear on stands then want the front lifting too be careful also the rear stands can topple very easily.. Make there's nothing letting the trolley jack roll as you lift as it'll slip off. Just lifting front, hand brake on with a chocked rear wheel. Reverse for the other end.. The chock is important and will move away from the tyre if you put it under first, so recheck. For anyone who wasn't sure. Never lift by the suspension arms If you look for rivets in the underside floor and junctions of rivets it will give a rough idea1 point

Me I would buy 25mm Celotex sheets or similar and ct1 it to the door, it would give you almost double to glass wool and silver tape the edges. https://www.travisperkins.co.uk/floor-insulation/recticel-eurothane-general-purpose-rigid-pir-insulation-board-2400mm-x-1200mm-x-25mm/p/2540491 point
