  1. I own an RX8 engine Westfield, possibly the one you have seem advertised in February. Chris, where are you located, welcome to try mine out...after lockdown that is haha I purchased it from Jon who has a very lengthy build thread on the mazda rotary forum http://mazdarotaryclub.com/forum/index.php?topic=80900.new;topicseen#new Hopefully that link works, otherwise just search westory and it should come up. May well be something on this forum come to think of it.... I'm going to continue with the build thread with changes and additions i make. I think the engines characteristics are very well suited to the Westfield. Very linear power and it is very fast. Adam

  2. Well she has finally emerged from the garage, albeit onto the road outside and back - no runs out during lockdown 😩 Love the new wheel colour!

  4. Must admit i bought the same items from Mick Cooper too, usual great quality. One benefit of this lockdown is that there's not much else to spend your cash on once the weekly shopping is done...

  5. But the Pre-lit is now over 30 year. And look pretty good. I am biased though.

  6. Thanks for your replies. I'll probably stay away from the bike engines if there's no real benefit and will mainly be using on the road. Paul T - I think I've seen a video of you in your car on You Tube! I can see my boy always wanting me to take him out for spin. ref. the Car for sale on Gumtree, they spent an hour on WhatsApp video call going all over the car, they told me it had a Ford Granada rear axel, MT75 gearbox and engine was from a Fiesta RS1800, recent new suspension and brakes. The bloke appeared to prime the carburettors manually, which seemed a little odd? He was more keen to sell it to the other interested party who was a mechanic, maybe something on his conscience. What do people tend to do for car servicing? Is it accepted that the people who buy these cars service themselves and keep receipts etc. as proof of maintenance? Is there a chassis no. or year that is better than others?

  9. Unfortunately, as "Seven" style car owners, we may get the special versions, a certain Captain almost certainly will!

  10. My wife is registered carer for her Mum and has to do shopping for her and us as deliveries non existent in this area. Have decided that she is the nominated shopper as she loves doing it any way and I can stay and console my Westy for lack of use☺️so as not to expose persons other than necessary. She has found that major stores(Tesco, Asda, Morrison, Sainsbury) are all very difficult to navigate and has mainly relied upon Aldi and Lidl for our essentials where she has been treated with the utmost respect. Living out in the country we have less reliance on things that are being hoarded, Toilet roll - plenty of grass, Hand sanitiser - plenty of grass, excercise - plenty of grass, entertainment - watching the grass grow, but seriously we are so lucky and can only imagine how difficult it is to live locked within tight spaces and we really feel for those in flats etc.

  13. After a very frustrating wet winter, being furloughed allowed me to get started on the facelift on my Westie. Going for a full Martini livery. I am using vehicle wrap as I don't want this to be permanent. The FW poses a great many challenges with its curves and manipulating the substrate, especially on the rear. It doesn't help that NOTHING on these cars is symmetrical! lol I have designed and drawn on the files myself in Illustrator, currently working on a trick version of the Westfield Logo.

  15. 3m velcro for me. The Westfield ones were velcro fitted so just needed s strip on the underside of the carbon sills. The chassis footwell covers are just s tight push fit onto the chassis rail.

  19. Oh, rear pads are Mintex btw and as it’s lockdown, I have taken opportunity to give the Calipers a clean up! They are like new. Pistons free. Cleaned up a treat.

  35. I am not organised enough to do a proper build thread, but will add photos to this thread bit by bit. This is what happens when you get to 60 - you look for something a bit different in retirement... Pics show independant front suspension (4 transverse leafs each side). The 'tub' is ash frame, skinned with steel (Fortunately this was done before I got it, as I would never have had the patience or skill) Bulkhead is marine ply - as original, self tap screws werent even invented then. The 4 wings are in a real state - badly repaired, and rusty - this will be a major challenge.

  36. So my son has been put on furlough by his boss and because his Mini had sprung a leak somewhere around the PAS pump, I thought I was being helpful by saving him a big garage bill by doing the job ourselves... Gravity had a different opinion!
