  1. Sometimes I get asked, but what's the difference between A-Plan and competitors/other brokers? Without going into the details of things like we aim to answer the phone within 3 rings... there's no press 1 for this, 2 for that... inhouse claims team etc etc - I thought I'd give a more personal view of how I feel that A-Plan stands out, from a staff members perspective. I'll be honest, I've never worked for a company that's anywhere near as client focused as A-Plan is - it's so refreshing! The amount of training we do to make sure we have the knowledge to support our clients really makes you realise how much they care as a company... I don't think I'll ever leave ๐Ÿ˜‰ To give you an idea of what it's like here too, they have about 1,600 staff across 96 branches. Yet if I take a trip to head office they know who I am, what I look like and a couple of bits about me to ask how my daughter is or if I'm still drawing - even if there's about 20 of us visiting at once. We've seen our products in action whether that's because of a claim or one of our add-ons (breakdown, excess protection, legal cover etc) - so we know they work and the level of service we expect you to receive from the companies we use to provide these extras. Our staff genuinely do care about you and I think that makes all the difference than when you go to a direct insurer or a broker that uses a call centre. All feedback that I see that mentions a staff member gets given to them and the amount of staff that keep these little notes in their drawer because they are proud of the service they gave is lovely. So when you call A-Plan, that's who you are dealing with - not just a company, but individuals that genuinely want to help you ๐Ÿฅฐ So if we aren't able to beat your quote or we are on par price-wise, think about the service you've received so far before you've placed your business, as well as the level of cover offered, the knowledge of the staff and how it will benefit you to speak to someone who knows what a kit car is if the worst was to happen... and then think how much you value that, because if you do need us - we will be here. 2. Martin is right - its a 1938 BSA Scout (Yes they made 3 and 4 wheelers!) Quite a revolution in its day - its Front wheel drive, with cable brakes.... Dave - it might well have been clockwork, with a mighty 28BHP from its 1200cc sidevalve. It was sort of a poor mans MG in the day, but a project I am really getting into. Fortunately there is an excellent BSA club to give help, and source rare spares. Can post pics if anyone is interested on progress. Dave. The pic below is what I am aiming for.

  4. Apart from being about the same weight and size as the Westfield, this is about as far away from a performance car you can get - so no Westy content here! Fortunately I managed to collect this as a half completed restoration about a week before lockdown - the pic shows it in around 1988, just before restoration began! It will keep me busy for probably the best part of a year. Any guesses what it is, and age?

  5. I am not organised enough to do a proper build thread, but will add photos to this thread bit by bit. This is what happens when you get to 60 - you look for something a bit different in retirement... Pics show independant front suspension (4 transverse leafs each side). The 'tub' is ash frame, skinned with steel (Fortunately this was done before I got it, as I would never have had the patience or skill) Bulkhead is marine ply - as original, self tap screws werent even invented then. The 4 wings are in a real state - badly repaired, and rusty - this will be a major challenge.

  8. Yet more covidiocy. 05 apr 2020 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-52174288 "Coronavirus: Man rescued from Pyrenees fined for lockdown breach" "A man has been rescued by helicopter from the Pyrenees after trying to walk from France to Spain to buy cheap cigarettes, reports say. Despite his ordeal, he was fined 135 euros ($146; ยฃ119) for breaking coronavirus lockdown rules. "We remind you once more. STAY AT HOME," the regional police tweeted." And he didn't get his cheap fags!

  13. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Given your ability 'not to stay in the air', it may take several helicopters trips to get you out! So you'd definitely get value for money! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  15. No possible way to confirm its breaking the rules. If my westy was registered I'd be commuting in it. Shopping in it and delivering my parents supplies in it aswell. All perfectly within 'the rules'

  18. I don't routinely look for them but I did spot one leaving Wycombe Hospital car park about ten days ago. Didn't notice what it was but it must have been fairly 'ordinary' or I would have remembered.

  33. Coming along... Finally got a heater working! Quite tricky for a hayabusa engine.. A steady 25ยฐ at the matrix outlet.. That'll do me.. Guessing it'll be a bit cooler at outlet by the time the air cools a bit... Unless I insulate the outlet hose a bit.. I think out loud at times. I have to make from scratch a matrix blower direction box out of ally and plastic. Should be fun... Bodywork nearly done. Needs a flat a polish yet. Cage is getting rubbed down for a repaint too. Waiting for some self adhesive seal to arrive in the post but everything is slower now so mustn't grumble..
