  1. Hi guys, just thought I’d write a quick Introduction post. A lot of you may already know me as I’ve been out with my dad (Barry Wilson) for the last 11 years in his Westfield zetec. So, I’m a 22 year old mechanical engineering apprentice for a turbo manufacturer. I have wanted a Westfield for a while now and after looking at a few second hand Westfield’s for sale that needed a fair bit of work to make them how I wanted them. I decided to take the plunge and order a starter kit that is due around the middle of June. just thought I’d add a quick picture of myself for those of you who won’t know me. I have just been getting the garage ready for the Westfield’s arrival which has included wiring in some new LED light boxes, making a very important shelf to hold the brew and the Bluetooth speaker and an all round tidy up. I will be starting a build thread when the car arrives and I look forward to meeting a lot of you and all the knowledge and experience that will bring as well. thanks guys 👍 Andy

  7. I've always found the bonnet a pain in the a$$ as I'm terrified of damaging it when it's off and I'm working on the engine etc. In the past I've put it on the garage floor, on the lawn or awkwardly balanced it on the trans tunnel. I know some people have built some clever wooden frames to go between windscreen and roll bar which I considered, but didn't want to have to store something else in my already packed single garage - this may be something I've just been missing but I had the idea to just hang it up with paracord on the bonnet catches....which works a treat! might be useful for someone else... At the moment it's just hanging on screws but to be doubly secure I'm going to put some hooks up (just hope I don't forget and open the garage door in a rush from the outside 😁

  8. What’s the engine spec and your intended use? DO enjoy it, DON’T blow it up chasing down a Caterham at Donington Park

  10. Reminds me of helping my Dad change the engine in my moms Hillman Avenger! I was aged about 7, lay under the car trying to line up the clutch splines while he was hurling "encouragement" at me from above smoking one of many Players Number 6! Happy times! 😂😂

  14. Sadly, due to bathroom quarantining, Mrs Captain is already having to send him out to the garden to do his business! More worrying is I've heard talk of the Captain having to be fitted with one of those lampshade collars!

  45. As one of the co owners of a business, UNLESS things change, we fall between the gaps and as our field does include some services that are still considered essential, if we shut now, we have no help or support. So it's savings to live, and once that's gone, the street. It's as harsh as that. Current situations are also revealing the snakes out there, we have a client refusing to properly speak and holding back a significant five figure sum. A lot of what we do can't be done remotely, because we're often the ones that have to set those links up. Small businesses like us are desperate for the government to consider our cases, but ignorant screams about company owners and fat cats really don't help the case. We've paid staff from reserves and taken nothing as the owners. (And of course talk of relaxing corporation tax etc came just after most of us had paid it!)
