I’ll limit the passengers to one 👍. Hope your Mum is ok. At least Lincolnshire is currently one of the safest places to be. No one talks to each other anyway!4 points

When they say travelling, they mean long distance, from one place to another. They don't want people travelling the length of the UK and potentially spreading the virus around. They also don't want people packed together on public transport or in motorway services. Driving in a fairly small circle around your town is ok, as you're not going to transmit the virus around the country. Going out for a drive in the Westfield should be completely fine.3 points

I was at Bedford today. 98.1 static, but I got black flagged on the drive by. To give the circuit some credit, I pinged one of the meters at 86.9db vs the 87.5 limit. So they brought me in, showed my on the screens where the meter was that causing the issue, and then gave me some hints of how to drive past it so as not to cause an issue. Whilst it is a pain that the limit is low, that's down to the council and not the circuit. I think the circuit managed this well and were very helpful. It was a great day, (well morning) right up until my feet started getting hot and wet! The hose coming out of the expansion tank had split. Managed to bodge it with some tape but it was a get me home fix, and not one I'd trust back on the track. Still, can't grumble, it may be the last chance for track time for a while3 points

My car's ready to go, and I'm free.. and I'd love to go to Oulton, but I have serious worries about the risk involved for me. I consider myself fit and healthy and have no underlying medical conditions .. but my age is teetering just below the "strongly advised to isolate group" 69 next month. 😞 Sensible thing to do would be to give it miss.. but will see how things go in the next few days.2 points

Really can’t see any reason why that’s not the case. I’d say going for a blat is definitely a green light. Just be antisocial when you stop!2 points

Given you live in a part of the UK where people still regularly point, when the see a horse less carriage, I'd carry on regardless. Using the above guidance, you are under the amber - do with caution. Travelling in private transport. Hence drive, smile, have fun and take care when fueling, eating etc.😃2 points

We’ll stay we’ll away from you Andrew.....we can’t keep up! (Just realised the naivety that I still class myself in the “young” demographic)2 points

Great new Jude, keep your chin up and it will pass. Adam, you raised a very good point but it is one that a lot of people do not ever want to think about. My Father had dementia in his 80's and he fell out of bed breaking his hip. The Orthopedic surgeon told me he was going to fix it and then hopefully he would survive a bit longer. He lasted a few months more and only knew me in the end, he died full of morphine. We as a family would have been happy for nature to take it's course rather than waste money on an operation with no chance of an improvement in life. It was societal pressure that makes people feel the need to try to keep people alive at any cost and for any length of time regardless of quality of life afterwards. My Daughter is an anesthetics Dr in a large ITU unit, they have already had discussions about how to decide who lives and who dies if there is only one ventilator left. Is it the old person, otherwise healthy or the person who has smoked has COPD but has two kids? The multitude of options is so huge to be mind boggling. They are as well prepared as anyone could be not knowing how bad it will be but spare a thought for these people who will be living this nightmare on every shift, which will get longer if their colleagues get ill as well. It is possible that ventilators will be turned off against families wishes in such circumstances and I for one am glad that I will never have to make that call and as it stands no one individual will but it will be hard for the public to understand. This will test all our sensibilities and our resilience and to bring this back on topic, already we have seen the mental deterioration of a lot of people because someone on Facebook said toilet rolls are going to be short supplied. We now see shelves stripped bare and the vulnerable being tossed aside by some of the people who see this as the end of the world. We need to look out for everyone who is vulnerable both physically, mentally and socially especially if the elderly are forced to be home alone, keep in touch and it will pass.2 points

Today has been work this morning in my workshop by myself. Big commute - 10 ft. Lunch watching telly. Then out for 125miles and half a tank of petrol. Mmmm. Had to be a long drive to avoid gardening. Productivity goes down in the good weather. 😀. Keep blatting!2 points

It's total lock down or not. We have that much to do we thought why not put both cars together and get more done. @RussH is probably up for oulton but I could only do the afternoon but could meet you all there. the silver lining to all this might be a load of seat time if the no fun police don't shut the TDO's down. The other thing is if tracks can only do track days and not race events due to lack of permits from Msuk then we might get even more track days for them to make there income up at the curcuits on weekends.1 point

https://www.javelintrackdays.co.uk/trackdays/Covid19 Javelin still going ahead. Interestingly, if you've been to a Javelin day in the last 18 months, you can read a card and avoid the briefing altogether.1 point

I was at Castle Coombe yesterday doing an interview with Ross from Slip & Grip for an article I am writing for WW and he was clear (having spoken to several tracks and other TDOs) that they plan to continue to offer the events whilst they can but will be run with added CV19 precautions: 1- Sign on will be spread out and limited contact 2-Drivers briefing will be outside where possible or again spread out 3-Cafe/Restaurants/Shops etc will be contactless payment only and also 'via a hatch' using disposalable plates, cups and utensils (where is the save the planet now...) 4-Pit lanes and Paddocks will be asked to spread out and where possible 'Chat across the car' Other than that, the issue for many will be for those venues where people travel far and stay overnight, the hotels and restaurants that accommodate them may well be closed or at best limited (not sure ref camping). Whilst the tracks and TDOs are VERY keen for these Track Days (approx 50-60 cars/drivers) to continue, the other car/track events may well be cancelled and this is the killer - TDs are not very profitable for the very reason they are small numbers - Big Spectator events are what keep tracks going with tickets, sponsors, retailers, food vendors, amusements etc all paying to be there. What he was sure about was that continental trips are OFF probably for the rest of this year! It was clear from his comments that business was already tight for the TDOs (Big ones like Javelin and MSV may have more resilience as they operate over more tracks and a greater number of events per year so can absorb a bit of a hit) and they will need our support (Drivers) to keep them afloat or they may have to take a tactical pause until restrictions are freed up? Also, a final note was book up early as decisions are being made earlier on GO - NO GO for TDs due to the CV issues and the need to give notice to tracks ref cancellations.1 point

I purchased a Cartek switch (cut out is bigger) worked OK. I now have a Westfield pulse switch and 2 pin switch spare. Talk to Cartek nice people who know their products.1 point

I reckon it's a sweeping statement. Using a little bit of sense will always prevail IMO. A drive out by yourself in a car that only you drive, having no contact with any other humans (other than perhaps using a petrol station - which you can still do with a contactless card at the pump) doesn't really fall into the high risk category. Using the tube to pop over and see your mate for a coffee in Starbucks.... a bit different!1 point

Hi Bedford seem to work on drive by tests. From my experience, Abingdon has static tests (100dB(A) at 4,500rpm. I am a Motorsport UK registered Environmental Scrutineer and have a noise meter. If you fancy a run over to Oxford at some point, I could do a test for you. Alternatively, I will be at the National Kit Car Show at Stoneleigh at the start of May and will have my meter there should anyone want a test doing. Simon1 point

New Zealand and Fiji now gone done the pan, the wedding we are due to attend on Friday is going ahead with reduced numbers, the bride and groom have cancelled their honeymoon to Mexico, I can't imagine what's going on in her head at the moment ☹️ We are now looking at a road trip up to the Gold Coast after that no one knows, things are changing by the hour 😮 We have no idea if or when we will be able to get home. 🙄0 points
