Depending on how quickly you get through that, you may wish you had bought bog roll as well!6 points

...this is what greeted me in the loo roll aisle. The only loo paper left was Sainsburys own brand. How middle class is that? “There may be a deadly pandemic virus on the loose, but I refuse to compromise my standards and wipe my bottom with anything less than Andrex!” No wonder we’re all in the poo - sheesh. 🙄5 points

It must just be posh people panic buying loo roll. The shelves were full at B&M Bargains (although the beer isle was depleted after my visit for some reason)4 points

Damn you and your sneaky ways! There's me, innocently phoning up to pay for my AP Master cylinder, and some how you've tempted me into ordering a new tonneau cover for the FW Honda!! I'm just easily led!!!3 points

Just back from the Friday shop where we typically spend about £12. To my shame, I must confess we spent over £50 today.......the rum supply was running low so had to get a couple of litres of Sailor Jerry and Captain Morgan. Oh, and 2l of OJ. Is that panic buying?3 points

That's when Covid 1964.2 is at it's peak. If you apply by post, please don't lick your envelope. Hand sanitisers will be available on the club stand, but only for use on your hands. Read the label.2 points

I WFH anyway, but the note came out this afternoon for all staff globally (77,000) in none safety critical / operational roles to WFH, no F2F meetings and no none essential biz travel, so no customer meetings for me until at least April 15th. I know others are in the same boat, so try not to w**k your jobs down the drain for the next month.1 point

Driving your Westy in the snow... Gutsy move, Maverick. That looks like a fantastic day out; inspiration to get my finger out and have a weekend in my shed, now that my M4 washers have arrived.1 point

Should get my car back next week and I will give you a shout if the weather is anything like it was today. You need to let me know how you get on with the tyres as I still have the TR1 ditch finders on and am struggling to make a decision on their replacements and have the same worries as you do with driving in weather which could be classified as compromised by our wet weather 🤨1 point

I did a wet day at Brands and the instructor taught me the "wet line". I couldn't believe the difference it was astounding. I actually learnt more on that day than I ever have on pretty much every track day I have ever done. It was educational and the spin off backwards at Graham Hill bend on to the grass was a little "emotional" but it was a fantastic day and really taught me the value of heel and toeing to keep the rear of the car stable. That said now I have Tillett seats in the new car so I'm sure I'll be out with the drill o make some drainage when the first proper rainfall cometh.1 point

The advantage with new rads is that they have fins on the back, so have increased surface area, often in a smaller/shorter package. Larger rads being cooler return temperature, so the condensing boiler can do its thing, something which was but a pipe-dream with the one pipe system where you had to send it out at 80 deg and got it back within a couple of degrees of that! If its and inch or so different you can get telescopic valve couplers, but often you want to go a foot or two shorter and get some wall back which you really want to do under the floor. If the room is carpeted, it's potentially not a huge job to pull back one edge, lift a floorboard and re-space the pipes especially if the carpets being changed at the time, but it still a lot more work than not doing it so it depend on the perceived gain! We bought the house at a reasonable price knowing very little had been done for 38 years, last wiring presumed to be done in 1965 when it was split in half to give the 4 bed semi we have, with the intention of doing a reasonable amount of work and then doing a 40 year stink in it ourselves, but it has still being a fair old project and being I think more than even I anticipated. We're 30 and 32, without children as yet, but with the hope of it being a family home. 18 months into owning it and about 12 months into the work, the rewiring and plumbing is done and as of november we have the two main living rooms both have ceilings and are all back together decorated, furniture but not curtains and light fittings. Kitchen and bathroom are the only rooms basically untouched, bed rooms will be done room at a time, hall and landing will re-papered sometime over the next year for us to decorate. Daniel1 point

If it does the job, it works! I fine the ir gun I have is poor on curved surfaces, it likes to be fairly square on to a fairly flat surface. To the corner of a radiator when the flow comes in is good but a 15mm copper pipe is bad. It won't be calibrated to the emissivity of the surface, but for comparison rather than absolutes is should still be fine. I have heard of people placing a square of tape on a surface to read that, but I've not found it to help a lot. Yes, they can seem to stick especially if held down. I don't know what the best thing to do is, certainly turning all the TRVs off all summer is likely the worst thing to do, on their normal setting I would expect the bulk to spend most of their time atleast part-open even in reasonably warm weather, and if they move a bit that's likely best. I think my plan is to turn any rooms we have 'off' to a mid setting and then leave them all there. Sitting on the TRV cartridge but mainly open. And I think turn the heating on one for 20mins once in the middle of the summer and give them all a wiggle to ensure them and the fluid has moved once Who knows. I'm hoping they will do 10-15 years but will report back in a decade on that! Daniel1 point

Nope, same thing happened to me with Gin. And beer, and red wine, oh, and tonic and lemons... and ice cubes.1 point

I have Danfoss TRVs and they certainly seem better made than the cheaper unbranded ones. However it is prudent to open them wide in summer in my experience or they tend to stick closed over the warm weather. It is easier to ease off an open valve than a closed one. We're in a hard water area so YMMV1 point

Once people have so much bogroll that they cannot close their cupboards, the shops will restock and we'll all be able to buy some. My Good Lady is an inveterate hoarder and we have almost year's supply of some things. Luckily we have a basement...1 point

A heads up, the Government offers big grants to cover some upgrades to heating which can cover more than just the boiler. I took advantage of installing air source heat pump heating and the grant covers all the work done which has future proofed my property. Work included heat pump(of course), changing to pressurised system(no cold tanks or power pumps), new massive hot water tank, new high efficient radiators to run at lower temperatures plus fitment. No supply of mains gas to my village so was the only option against stored supplies. The major drawback is grant is paid in installments over 7 years, but is transferable so is an asset to the property. If you have solar panels, electric air or ground source heating is absolute no brainer.1 point

Now retired I have time to log into my pension fund each day, what a cliff edge. We managed our ski trip in early Feb but can’t see our May holiday happening. All we can do is trust the science, take practical steps to minimise risk and help each other when we can. What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.1 point

An update as promised. The laptop has been repaired by the local repair shop at the quoted price of £110, suggesting that there were no nasty surprises lurking around. I was worried that the pin was damaged or that I may have caused some other issues, but, no, all was well. So we have learnt 2 things, 1. Lenovo are repairable and 2. always pick your laptop up with 2 hands, it's not a spanner 😀1 point

I so sympathize with your friend, Julie, but can't help think that she has done the right thing. After the constant confrontation of the last three years "discussing" Brexit and now moving on to this, our corner of the world seems to have been dumped on its head. Formula i will be back when everything recovers and, whilst she has taken a hit now, I am sure that she will find a delayed visit worth the wait. Why should her 51st birthday year be any less special than the 50th? Simon1 point

you do not need a fire extinguisher you need approved gloves Seat harnesses or belts do not need to be in date Kill switch is required Helmet might require HANS device if using slick tyres and type of roll bar or cage depends on tyres/class entered due to car spec1 point

Couple of vids from me: First one is following a Seat of some description.. then came across @Chris King - Webmaster and Joint North East AO And the second one.. I'd been stuck behind the green Aston for a few laps when the lad in the Caterham caught me, so I thought I'd let him through to have a go.. We got past the Aston and I tried to keep up with the Caterham.. He was quicker than me through the chicane and in my efforts to catch back up I went into Sunny in just a little too fast.. Just managed to keep it on the tarmac. ..As it happens, even with that mistake that was my quickest lap of the day.1 point
