...this is what greeted me in the loo roll aisle. The only loo paper left was Sainsburys own brand. How middle class is that? βThere may be a deadly pandemic virus on the loose, but I refuse to compromise my standards and wipe my bottom with anything less than Andrex!β No wonder weβre all in the poo - sheesh. π3 points

I so sympathize with your friend, Julie, but can't help think that she has done the right thing. After the constant confrontation of the last three years "discussing" Brexit and now moving on to this, our corner of the world seems to have been dumped on its head. Formula i will be back when everything recovers and, whilst she has taken a hit now, I am sure that she will find a delayed visit worth the wait. Why should her 51st birthday year be any less special than the 50th? Simon2 points

Well spotted and very funny Craig, I had not picked that up on first glance. I came on here to say a great big thank you for putting my photo on the front cover, I am well impressed THANK YOU XXXX. @LukeW's beautiful Honda engine at Tagg Lane Ice Cream Farm, with @BillyPee and @Weekend Warrior looking on. Can't wait to see/hear all your cars again.2 points

I recommend not using an IR gun to test your radiator temps, if your pipes are chromed, as it will give incorrect readings of the temperature due to the reflection from the chrome (emissivity), not a problem if you are only looking at the difference from each end, ie balance, but the temps will not be correct. If your TRV valve has a facility to adjust it under the head, like the Honeywell ones, then it doesn't matter which side it goes on, as you can adjust each side for get the balance. Don't be surprised if it takes you ages, and the results change on a daily basis......get them somewhere near then leave them alone. good luck regards scott1 point

Being up at the crack of dawn is required for the mileage were going to be doing @Bigchris092... You can strap virtually anything to a roll bar @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO, just adjust the preload and "it'll be reet" π₯³π₯³1 point

According to Stephen Fry, Sainsburys exists to keep the scum out of Waitrose....ladies and gentlemen, these photos thus illustrates the difference between your former and current chairmen! π1 point

Definitely fit new lockshields at the same time, the danfoss ones can come as packs, which are nicer quality than the own brand ones we ended up with which I am sure will fail earlier! Bleed valves are less of an issue, as they dont have seal on the stem and are only closed off fully in normal operation. Daniel1 point

No they're not the best. Not by a long stretch. Especially when you compare to a competitor like race technology. Look how they looked after @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO when his went tits up in europe. You struggle to even get aim to answer a simple email or return a call.1 point

I agree! As I said itβs a cracking tent but even though itβs a 2-hobbit tent I now use a bigger one with a decent porch. But please do try it.1 point

@Geoffrey Carter (Buttercup) when you take up @Chris King - Webmaster and Joint North East AO's kind offer and loan his 'hobbit shelter'. I suggest you have a test camp in your back garden etc. you'll find in the summer that you've got no chance of entering the tent as it will be way to hot, in daylight. You'll be up at the crack of dawn when the sun comes up due to the light and also dawn Corus etc. Yes, you can wear earplugs and eye masks etc. They have their purpose, but I'd give it a go close to home before venturing away from home or spending a lot of money. Don't forget you've got airbeds, sleeping bags etc to carry. We've used tents successfully for two trips to Le Mans however we only really get any sleep in it on the Fri night and the Sun night. I can just fit a 6 man tent in the footwell of bagpuss and then a bag on the passenger seat for the rest of my gear. How people manage to camp two up, is impressive @Brad Stone1 point

Back out in the speed series this year, but only for a few events, so not wanting to blow Β£1k+ on new slicks. Anyone got anything from last year they want to sell? Need something which will fit 7x13" front and 8X13" rear wheels. π€ TIA1 point

I have used this company before for used slicks. If you call them they have far more stock than appears on the website. https://www.jdmotorsporttyres.co.uk/1 point

Yes and no. Yes, 3" is better, where the webbing thickness and strength per square inch is the same as a 2" - also three inch spreads the contact across the body. However, when you compare the cross section of a 2" ejection seat harness to a 3" racing harness, the jet harness is way stronger (I'm an ex-Airforce aircraft safety systems tech). So it's subjective. There are 2" QRF (Quick Release Fitting (the buckle is a 'fitting')) harnesses around, and I believe the 2" to be a better fitment in a small confined road-car than a bulky 3". https://www.purple-dot.com/performance-shop/uncategorized/luke-professional-4-point-harness/ Pull-up lap belts are better than pull-down lap belts, as the lap belts can be made snugger to the body. And I know I always bang on about this each time belts come up on the forum, but I see so many with the straps adjusted incorrectly, which would result (in an accident) the wearer slipping under the harness and cramming into the footwell...so, always have the shoulder straps slackened off when getting in, adjust the lap belts snug and low to the hip line, below the gut on the portly fellas, and only then adjust but not overtighten the shoulder straps. When you get out of the straps, slacken the shoulder straps before your bum leaves the seat.1 point

So after selling the last car (yet to be collected) it was time to fill its place and today was collection day. To say I was like a kid on Christmas eve last night was an understatement but up I got at 6am and headed across to pick up @RussH as I would be using Lionel the mx5's garage space until the old car is collected next week. It was a tight squeeze on to the trailer as the back end is pretty wide and headed back from near Newmarket. The build quality can be seen straight away and great work by @mark.anson from when he built the car with a couple of refinements by the previous owner. Now to get use to a completely different beast in a BEC and see how I get on with the big boys on slicks. One happy bunny.1 point

Geoffrey I have a pretty good light weight tent that you can have for as long a you need. One of these https://www.cotswoldoutdoor.com/p/vaude-taurus-2p-tent-D1314129.html?channable=e65395.MjUxNTcwXzkw&colour=90&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIp-KD9pKO6AIViaztCh1gEQQQEAQYASABEgIdXPD_BwE1 point

I was with my friend last night, she will be 50 years old this year and for her 50th birthday present she is going to watch the F1 in Barcelona. She has paid the deposit and now it is time to pay the balance. The travel company have told her that if the F1 gets cancelled she will still have to go to Barcelona unless travel to Barcelona itself has travel restrictions. She does not particularly want a holiday in Barcelona so she has cancelled the trip and is gutted.0 points
