Good morning all from a bright and chilly Devon. I'm looking for advice about scaffold towers. We've recently moved house and our new place, a victorian rectory, needs some refurbishment. Since there is so much to be done I would like to purchase a scaffold tower so that I can complete the work safely and efficiently, and use it for regular maintenance in the future. External work includes repairs to eaves and gables, removing Ivy and repairing damaged mortar, at a maximum height of ~ 10m. Internal work includes ceilings at 3m, an Orangery at 4m, and Coach House with a vaulted ceiling. We have level ground around the whole house, and 75% of that is gravel or paving. A tower seems like the practical approach and much safer than a ladder. Does anyone have experience of using these and the pros / cons? Good brands or systems and where to purchase? I've been looking at this site for a few ideas, but am also interested in used towers. https://www.scaffold-tower.co.uk/Scaffold_Towers/single_width_2.5m_8x2/platform_height_7_7m.php For those of you who like a picture here's the new home, and the coach house. Did I mention the triple garage... plenty of room to work on the Westfield and for a new project when I've finished the refurb.5 points

๐ well it was sunny and dry, the weather forecast is wrong ? so I thought a cooked breakfast sounds good. heated vest on and woolly hat and gloves on off I went out the village into the wind and ooooo itโs chilly and icy but hey ho weโre off. took the twisty roads over to pitcaple and soon decided after a couple of twitches , that it wasnโt wise to push on, so stopped at โthe busโ to the amusement of some bikers who had, had the same idea then a hearty breakfast before exploring some lovely ( if they werenโt icy and snowy) on the way home. The heated vest made it quite civilised without having to bulk up various layers, thanks @Geoffrey Carter (Buttercup) You were right. was it worth it ? A breakfast and just to get out for a couple of hours, YES it was5 points

I have taken it apart as shown in the photo. It was glued on with like a very sticky version of blutack. There were no screws. It is the connecting pin that looks a bit scary, about a third of the way along the bottom of where the screen would be (in the photo). There is nothing to get hold of in order to push it back together, do I need a special tool? I will take a closer photo tomorrow. @aeg I have carefully worded that bit to save anyone any embarrassment, you are causing a stir on our sofa๐1 point

Wishing Rita good luck on Tuesday for your operation. The aftercare will no doubt be 1st class and spotlessly clean. We hope that you will soon be allowed out to play. Little Beast.1 point

Thank you Little Beast. The chassis is being welded on Tuesday and the wheels are getting refurbished soon too. As soon as all this rain passes Rita will be back on it, my petrol bill has never been so low and I have never been so rich.1 point

Still showing places available.. Just had mine started up and warmed up to make sure all is OK. Started second kick.. what's the betting it doesn't next Monday! Thought I'd clean out the interior a bit.. what an amazing amount of crud I dug out from the far depths of the footwells! ..a mixture of bits of rubber and general earthy crud. After nearly putting my shoulder out of joint fishing around by the pedals, I've given up and have accepted my car wont ever win a concourse competition. ๐1 point

So pleased you like the jacket. I wasn't sure it would fit as you look larger than me. ๐ It won't fit if you keep eating those breakfasts. I went out yesterday for a couple of hours and came back frozen. Looked warmer than it was.1 point

IVA nut covers are really handy for putting at least some protection on the kill switch terminals, Iโm always very wary about having such (potentially) high current carrying connections completely bare.1 point
