Back today from another Highlands roadtrip - this time shouted ourselves for good behaviour to five nights DB&B in five luxury spa hotels, unfortunately in a tiptop not the Westfield. Only did 3-4 hours each day, leisurely driving to the conditions between hotels, only stopping for pics and lunch, then taking in the hotel's spa facilities and lovely food (Diane had a couple of treatments too). The Highlands look dramatic any time of the year, but with a generous coating of snow the scenery was particularly special this trip. After giving 5PM, Trivago (et al) a good trashing, the trip wasn't too costly - no more than it would have cost us a 4/5* hoteled Feb week in Spain with dodgy weather and temp. One of the best holidays we've had in a while, and we had the roads pretty much to ourselves when we were on the B-roads - even Spean Bridge to Dalwinnie was near-deserted.
