Following decades of wanting a "seven" I took the plunge in 2019 and bought a 96 SEIW, and now after 5 months and 2000 miles it was with a heavy heart I decided to sell the my beloved car. I've adored owning the flying banana, but bought her on a budget to see if the Westfield ownership experience was for me. I'm in the fortunate position to be able to buy my dream car, and I'm delighted to say it's another Westfield! Today I traded up to a stunning Mega S2000 from Toybox that has only covered 850 miles since new. It's been very tidily built with an LSD, ARB's front and rear, Dash2, Reynolds tube front wishbones, lowered floors etc. I'm over the moon with her so far and I'm looking forward to getting out on some runs in the peaks to stretch her legs π A big thank-you to @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO for all your help and advice, I owe you a beer!12 points

He's aeroscreened, so @RobH72 and his passengers will soon acquire the taste π3 points

Welcome @Gerry41 I took my whole loom out 3 times when building mine. You'll soon learn plenty of new swear words! I'd suggest you read some of the of build threads on here and make notes of what is of interest/relevant as we all build different etc. It's also worth dry building (i.e. checking off the car that you've got all the bits for what you plan to do in the weeks ahead) to ensure you've got all the bits and the right bits. It's all worth it in the end when you get that IVA pass and then get to drive the car you've build once registered. Why not create a build thread yourself? Others will help and guide as you build. Someone kindly spotted I'd mounted my fuel pump the wrong way round on mine. This would have been a pig to find later on!1 point

Tree dont create much issue in terms of signal, its hills/valleys that block it, and or rural area with lower mast density. You can see if any given network has coverage by taking your phone there and seeing what is says. If it has 3/4g it will almost certainly have 2g but you can also lock it down to 2g/gprs. If you have someone elses phone on another network you can check that too. Else you just have to get one and see. Post back here! Obviously hypothetically in a situation where the dog is lost and not coming back when called, knowing the location might allow you to recover them. In practice in order to keep them safe from other dangers, mainly cars, in my experience they are basically alway close enough they come when called and or to a whistle. Daniel1 point

Andrew I may well suggest that to them as I daresay a few of the Speed Series guys may come up for some practice1 point
-
100% yes, driving something or other. Will stay over night before and after as also 6 hrs for me.1 point

Just echoing Andrew's comments the guys that came up last year to do a couple rounds of the Speed Series thoroughly enjoyed the circuit. Andrew keep me in the loop. Ps there seem to have been more dates added since you posted and I know it is work in progress for the staff this week1 point

If you want the battery then yes, if you want the charger then no as I need it for the battery.1 point

I suspect this may well be the best solution but at Β£700 I could just buy a new dog (joke!). I'll see if there's any radio type devices that are cheaper.1 point

I guess all GPS trackers need to see the sky (for location) and another device (to tell them about it) to work. -Either a wide area wireless signal such as gprs/2g which will have some form of cost to use, subscrition or payg sim. -Or direct to another device you own, which is then going to have a cost to purchase and range limitations. Facebook keeps showing my a small octagonal tile I can attach to keys or hide in my car and track it, presumably for security rather than spying, but I have no idea what the cost of rural performance would be. Obviously every woodland is different it could work great in a nice forest in Cheshire, flat and high population, and awful i leafy Devon, or the other bl**** way round! Daniel1 point

So we have reached February and as I type the sun is coming out... I have manage to avoid going back onto my (bipolar) meds and have no signs of depression. Get me huh! I have managed to get out and about in the Wez which is like taking a happy pill! I did spin her on a greasy roundabout which gave me an adrenaline rush, not done that before. Manage to recover and carry on like it had been intentional! (???!!) There were quite a few other cars about... wonder if anyone captured that on their phone! What a clever bunch of guys there are here sharing their feelings, isn't it funny how we don't recognise our own achievements? Personally i don't think I have any! I used to think it was an achievement just to get up, have a wash and be dressed. Currently life isn't so bad and I send these positive vibes to those of you are are not feeling so positive - yet. Tomorrow is a blank canvas just waiting for you to make a mark... make it a good one. x1 point

For the tyres from F3 teams (used, cheap slicks) for rear 240mm wide the 10" is recommended (9" propably still ok) and for front for 200mm tyres 9" is recommended. I was lately looking for such rims and not too much to choose from. Ended with Revolutionwheels. If Pro race are cheaper, then the demand propably will appear. (arches can be extended with spacers)1 point
-
Might be interested in the 9" depending on offset range available. And also, whether they clear Golf callipers!1 point
-
Patrick, based on my experience with my old car (factory built, early 2008 aerosport) a 9" wheel would only fit if the car had extra wide wheel arches. I used 8" latterly on the back, and they only just fitted between the suspension on the inside of the rim and the plane of the outer arch on the outside.1 point
