  1. I've recently renewed and downloaded ALL my A-plan docs! I've looked at little closer at my breakdown cover and started to worry, that I'd not been adequately covered during my last 3 Euro trips and have just spoken with Carlie ( @A-Plan Insurance THATCHAM) for clarification. Whilst the docs state: I'd prefer the nearest 'suitable' garage to be my own! I'm delighted to report, Carlie advised otherwise (I'd been 'boy looking' to quote my wife!)! The deeper T's and C's state: Hence Carlie wouldn't take any more money from me to improve my Euro Cover as it's already perfect!

  2. I’ve just renewed my Aplan insurance. Same premium as last year but with car value increased by £2k and with no claims bonus cover thrown in. £170 fully comp. 5000 miles and parked on drive (as it is in a oak garage that potentially doesn’t fulfill the garage requirements). V8 3.5ltr. When I first got the Westy, I shopped around and went with Flux. Soon learn that Aplan was better and never looked back. Keep it up Aplan. 😀

  3. Yes, if you have an older car, or have done modifications to the wiring loom on a newer car, cutting plugs off, stripping insulation etc, its very easy to let the smoke out! You know the feeling, you wire something new in, turn the key, and bam, the smoke leaks out of the wiring1 Well don't panic, just top the smoke back up again, and everything will work fine.

  5. The other car is a Range Rover so as a result I have the best breakdown cover money can buy! I know what @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO is eluding to but I am not rising to it 🙂

  8. I'm surprised at that we have specialist 4x4 schemes including off road cover in Thatcham Branch - admittedly the local branches are not as competitive on specialist vehicles which is why we direct you to us... try us again at renewal, you never know! Insurers change their criteria all the time as stats change etc. We also have an in-house claims team which is a real plus as we sit on hold for hours to insurers so you don't have to - sorry you didn't have a great experience before, but don't give up on us 😏 Carlie

  9. For years I've been with Adrian Flux for the insurance on my Megabusa, I've had fully comp, 7500 miles and an agreed value option. This year it would of cost £480! I'm 53 with a clean licence not living in a high risk area. They also are now undervaluing the car against the market value... I've seen adverts recently for 3k more than they were offering for cover... That's no good to me if it were written off or nicked... So had a shop round... A-Plan - same deal and with the value I'd asked for came in at £160... what the devil Mr. Flux....?! When I told fluxy boy they upped the value to what I asked for... No cheaper but come on... I had to pay to get out of the policy then pay the new premium but the still left me quids in... Worth a look if your thinking, apparently Aplan is run by a westy owner? So knows the cars well. 12. One of our lads had to Claim recently with A-plan and he was amazed at just how good they were when it counted - another had policy changes to make and again nothing but praise. I must admit, A. Flux dealt with my claim several years ago and all was good. Reality is you only really know when the worst happens - cheapest may not be the best. The problem any “these guys are great/terrible” post is that so much will depend on your own experience and let’s face it, with insurance a lot will depend entirely on the individual getting a quote.

  14. Looks to me like the front stay needs bending down a bit, and the whole cycle wing needs rotating forward 10 - 15 degrees so the back edge is vertical.
