  2. I put my new 13 “ wheels on and I have to say how impressed I was ,the car feels more nimble and precise and a different drive . I know most use them for the track and when I’ve read posts on how good they were ,I had always thought that the difference would be minuscule and that they were used to save a second or too a lap . I’m pleased to say I’m wrong and I’m glad I swapped, however there is a downside ,if you have a FW bonnet it no longer stays open on its own and this means access is even more limited . I could copy the Cat and run without one saying it fell off .What are the consequences if caught ? Or as I like a v8 bonnet ,can you swap a FW bonnet for a V8 bonnet and fit a nose come ?

  3. This people are just a*****s... sadly the forum police will censure the word... but they are and there is not any other polite word to describe them. Feeling that you are due for a compensation... well... you are an idiot (particularly if you have a remap in the car) but whatever. Now... wishing the bankrupt of a company that keeps paying directly or indirectly the salary of about 3.5 milion families around the world... including suppliers and engineering providers, is to have the same thinking capacity of a stone And we could do with less stones in our society... just saying.

  7. We used to have the original original Krookloc tied clutch pedal to steering wheel so you couldn’t depress clutch or turn steering wheel

  10. before you do anything always make sure the tyres that yon want to predominantly run are available in the wheel size you'd like to go for. As good as 13" are, there are many tyres just not available.

  22. Sorry! The trip actually finished a while back, and it's been hard to admit that it's over, which has made it a little harder to get back to posting updates on here! I'll get back to it though! We had been living pretty remotely for the past while, so thought we'd try a more sociable hostel in Ljubljana. I didn't know much about it when making the booking, but it turns out that Metelkova is a bit more of a lively place than I had been anticipating. I won't go into details on here (I'm sure you can find many on google), but despite the nature of the place, it really felt incredibly friendly. Everyone was really interested in the car there. My favourite was one of the times when we were arriving back into the hostel after some dinner, and there was a group of lads leaving. As they were walking past the car, one of them, claiming to be the car nut, was telling the rest of them, with absolute certainty that it was a Morgan. Naturally, I pointed out that it was in fact a Westie, at which point he disagreed with me and tried to convince me it was a Morgan. His friends were delighted when I responded with "Oh really? I must have missed that when I was building it... Thanks for letting me know though!". Don't think he'll be living that one down for a while! The hostel was supposed to have a beer pong night, but I guess being out of season, they weren't running it. It was pretty quiet, so we went out for a few drinks with some of our room mates there. The next day, I had a full day of doing nothing, which was absolutely fantastic, and badly needed! After that, we set off up towards our next hostel near Triglav (wild camping is very much not allowed in Slovenia, so we were sticking to paid accommodation there), but not before I could snap a quick photo of the car in Metelkova!

  23. ... all this "compensation" culture makes me sick. I'm wondering what you want compensation for... Its your life been any worst due your car having a few more grams of Co2 trough the exhaust? All this was only uncovered as a pay back for the fine that google had to pay to the EU few months before the Dieselgate. There are several devices in a car that are only focused on passing the Emissions tests, and is Known in the business. In fact when the diesel gate was uncovered... i though... SO... What?? I could not get the problem. AFAIK at least 4 other major groups that I've been involved with use similar strategies.

  24. The strength thing seems to be a really contentious one; the only conclusions I can draw from studying its real world application, (as opposed to what was taught in materials science sections at Uni), is that a Mig/Tig joint seems to be reasonably consistently strong over a narrower failure range, (unless done to an appalling low standard, whereas a brazed joint can have much more of a failure range, depending on the quality of workmanship in the joint. The one thing I know in this instance, (following Dave and his world renowned cycle frames on FB), is that a brazed joint by Dave is likely to be the equal of any, and not something I'd even think about, just like I wouldn't on a brazed Caterham of Ariel Atom chassis from Arch.
