  1. It was fridge cold out there today 😈 stop it Julie, don't mention the fridge. Andrew, Trevor and Steve arrived early so the only dynamic photo I got was of Bill's Porsche. He obviously got up to a summers morning and dressed accordingly, we all thought it was like an ice box 😈 out there. We went in the cafe for a warm because it was Kuhlschrankahnlich 😈 today, before setting off from Sainsbury's car park We made some noise Did a tour of Andrew's favourite breakdown places on we went past Chatsworth House on the right and a massive herd of deer on the left We took the lovely twisty road, driven with care as it was now salty, slippy, wet and cooler 😈 than usual, towards Buxton. My aim was to drive under a beautiful viaduct but can you blinking believe it, the road was closed. Umph, you carefully plan these things and then it doesn't happen, so we skirted ugly Buxton town instead of being on a lovely, empty country road. Here is a photo off the internet of what we should have seen. Next we diverted off the big, boring A515 onto nice roads to drive past the Dragon's Back. It looks like a Stegosaurus don't you think? That led us onto the Crowdecote road, blimey, it's January and we are doing switchback's! Next we went on a new road, I had reseached it extensively, but sshh don't tell anyone, I had never actually driven it before. It was better than I thought it would be, I was really pleased and we are definitely incorporating it into future routes, have a look for yourself Lovely smooth tarmac, no cow crp and the gorge is deeper as you go along it, we saw 1 car on it and no ruddy cyclists. We had a 'train' to catch and parked up Just in time for our midday reservation in the dining car With excellent views out of the window Hot dinners arrived all round, except for Bill who had soup and a sandwich as he was eating later, that's Bill who had 'chip envy' again 😀 Andrew had the pie, with chips of course This is a lovely place and we came here a couple of years ago, there are dining cars in a restaurant and it is just different, we should come more often In the restaurant, on the 'platform' outside of the dining cars is nice too In the dining car I am not sure who is in Car 6 but I hope your exhaust gas is not smoky Bill took a much more rude photo, I bet he daren't post it up Outside In the car park There was more empty roads a calling and we needed cake, proper home made stuff It was a toss up between Wetton and Tissington, this time Wetton won. The road to Wetton is bumpy and in the past my car has banged and bottomed out here. It was a good test for my new suspension as the car just glided over the imperfections. Good choice, they had all my favourite cakes on and it was a killer trying to choose what to have. They do takeaway cakes and Bill SAID he was taking some home for Sarah, yeah righty ho then Bill, we believe you This was Trevor's choice, the Victoria Sandwich but I had to go for the Bakewell cake with it's almond flavour and a cherry on top Someone had pie AND custard As it is lighter for a whole 10 minutes longer than 3 weeks ago, I decided Andrew and us would head home with Trevor and Steve towards Ashbourne, before breaking off with just Andrew in convoy along the lovely road that follows the Bentley Brook back to Matlock and then home. It has been a wonderful day with the lovely weather, quiet roads and yummy food. The best bit is always the excellent and interesting people we get to spend the day with, we look forward to seeing you all again soon xxx For Rob, Ian, Scott and maybe others my fingers are crossed that the stars will line up for you next time.

  2. Wow, looks like I've missed a great day out 😂 Glad @AndrewBClarke's car is performing as it should! My day's improving too. I've had some good cupboard support from @Andy (Sycho). He's helped me establish that the cupboard door needs fitting to the cabinet for the type of fridge I've bought! He then mentioned a special tool required to cut out the hinge holes in the door- drat! Lady luck is on my side for once. Luckily I saved all the spare hardware from when the kitchen was fitted and I've got plenty of hinges and the door already has the hinge holes cut out (covered by a plastic blanking plate!). It will all be wonderful tomorrow!

  5. What do you think? This will be brilliant on a warm summers evening. It is even safe for use in a car wash.

  6. Big thanks to @Julie Hall - Peak District AO and Glen for organising another great day out. I had second thoughts when I set of from home with frozen cars around me and slippy roads but it soon improved. A good steady drive with the usual Peak District views, great company and good food. My car is dirtier than ever. I will have to think about washing it sometime! 😀

  7. I have just been going through a load of memory cards and found a few clips that I had left from our trip into Italy / France / Switzerland. I cobbled this together with them rather than just delete them straight away.

  8. Thought for the day. When @Andy Westwood joins us he undoubtedly gets served with the biggest portion of cake. Julie has commented that this is due to his ‘boyish good looks’. This has been disproven today as Glen got the biggest bit. Andy Westwood clearly has a talent hidden from the rest of us that only surfaces when some poor unwitting sole wealds a knife over a cake. :)

  10. Thanks @Ian Kinder (Bagpuss) - Joint Peak District AO Julie did take us on a route to display all of the recent break down sights Car worked fine. I was a little nervous before leaving but neither of the recent breakdowns were avoidable - broken radiator and a wire pinched in construction. You missed a good one.

  11. Now I've got the new GoPro working, I thought I'd ask where the best position to mount it would be. Thoughts please.

  14. I have owned this car for nearly five years and I’ve gradually turned it into the car I’d always wanted...high power NA engine, lightweight space frame chassis and sequential box with close gearing! It’s great fun to drive, and with the current setup it’s surprisingly easy to lap extremely quickly on track. I am by no means the next Lewis Hamilton and I’ve managed a 1.33 round Croft on a track day with road legal tyres, so there is potential to go a lot quicker. Unfortunately, the time has come where I’ve decided to try and get onto the property ladder and my dad has decided he’d like to buy a toy of his own to occupy his garage space where my westy is currently stored(how selfish of him?!😅), so the car has to go! 2006 Westfield SEIW zetec road/track/race car 565kg Fully road legal 2.1 dry sumped 250bhp zetec, forged pistons and rods, 86mm bore silver top block. CNC blacktop head and custom cams. Quaife 26z 5 speed all alloy sequential gearbox with geartronics indicator. Regarded as a very robust unit in the world of rallying and substantially lighter than the 60g. It was Installed by PlaysKool along with a new raceline alloy bell housing which had additional machining to make it fit. Super light flywheel and 7.25inch clutch, a new clutch plate was fitted when the gearbox was installed and it’s only 2 track days since then. 7” gripper plated diff 4.44 ratio, geared perfectly, made a massive difference installing the 4.44, this was done by bara motorsports and has done 150 miles max Full cage Wide track with Westfield alloy uprights and hubs with new nylon bushings etc. all installed 150 miles ago Twin MC brakes with bias adjustment Bosch 044 fuel pump, facet lift pump and alloy swirl pot Fully flat floored from front to rear, with removable piece of carbon to change gearbox oil, quick release carbon nv diffuser at the rear Front and rear PlaysKool anti roll bars Lightweight lithium battery 9” cxr’s at the rear 7” at the front, Avon zzr tyres. Spares package included: Complete ST170 cylinder head inc. inlet manifold 2.04 1st gear ratio. It’s currently fitted with a 2.2 1st. Standard wish bones and front roll bar Spare 7.25 clutch plate Brand new standard black detachable arches Few other bits and bobs There are a couple of things that require some attention: There appears to be small oil leak from the diff, surprising as it cost a small fortune to have it rebuilt not long ago with all new seals, by supposedly the “best in the business” at dealing with the 7” diffs. The car currently requires 24v starting from cold with a slave battery. I believe this is down to a dodgy starter motor dragging excessive current from the battery, and therefore the voltage drops below 10v when starting and the ECU won’t let it start unless it sees more than 10v. As it’s been a track car I have just put up with the 24v starting but if someone wanted to put it on the road it’s probably advisable to get it sorted, unless you would be willing to carry a slave battery around with you. *edited to add 19/1/20 - brand new powerlite hi torque starter fitted* All in all I think this is a fantastic package for someone who can spend a bit of time tinkering with it and tidying up a bit. feel free to message/ring on 07949834634 price is £11250

  15. Hi everyone. I am considering a bog standard Sport, as my entry to Westfield ownership. i will do the odd track day but I am also considering the odd production auto test, maybe getting the kids involved as well when they are old enough. will a bog standard car be ok for a bit of fun. Not looking to be competitive just have a laugh or 2. I suppose a lsd would be the first worthwhile upgrade though... cheers Zip

  17. We didn't come across bulldozers but the tractor in the film was clearing up rocks that the workmen where throwing down from the hillside.

  18. Wow, that looks like an amazing trip! Definitely one for the bucket list! Perfect soundtrack too, luckily no bulldozers in any of the tunnels 😂

  19. Definitely missed out ☹️ That new road looks "gorge"ous, another hidden Winnats Pass?! On the plus side my new Momo and quick release is all fitted and the roll bar is about 80% done so I should be out next time 👍 Might have to do a solo extended test run tomorrow 😁

  20. My pain continues : fridge is in but wooden door won’t go on 😱 original fridge had piano hinges on. New one doesn’t and hence when the door is opened the wooden door hits the cabinet.
