  1. Might just crudely bolt Kiki back together and come over if @LukeW is out would be nice to meet up with him and thank him for his kind offer of some replacement indicators. Will just have to avoid those pesky sticks at Chatsworth this time

  5. Hi Paddy Yes a widebody will fit fine. ~£150 a year on insurance, whatever tax costs these days, £9000 per annum on upgrades.

  6. I put rubber edging around the flare and exhaust hole: meant to also do that around catch holes but never got round to it. tbh the holes in the new panels are just big enough to allow the catch to function and no more....

  7. Hi Adge, No I left the original side panel as is until about 3 inches inside the flared arch where the cut line is. Bonnet latches fine after slotting the catch rivet holes (on the bonnet) a couple of mm to allow for 2mm movement

  8. @TrashPanda13 Whereabouts in the UK are you? I'd suggest getting along to your local WSCC Meet and you'll be able to look at different cars, and even ride in them. This will give you a better idea of what to buy etc. Note given the time of year, there won't be any/many cars out at some meets, but I've used my aeroscreen heaterless car, every month for the last 4 years, since building! I've also been on 3 great Eurotrips so far. The lastest one is written up here:

  10. The weather is currently looking good and I need to get over the 1,000 mile mark so, assuming my daughter is well, I'll be there in the Cobra!

  11. The date has been set for SATURDAY. I have a plan for you @RobH72, buy her something horsey so she will be keen to go and try it out on Saturday, then promise her a great day on Sunday as a thank you for being so patient. Perhaps buy a take-away cake on Saturday as a surprise. Send Happy Birthday wishes to her from us and tell her what a lovely set of guys she has surrounding her, long, but lovely. (Note for everyone else, these guys are all 9ft tall)

  12. We arrived in good time and saved everyone a parking spot 😀 This car park over looks the water and the visitor centre/cafe, when it isn't misty that is. The other car park was filling up fast, nobody uses this one for some reason. I flagged down this Mustang and invitied him to park with us. He was from Uttoxeter and had only picked it up on 23rd December, what a Christmas present! He was dressed in shorts and was training for a triathlon which involves a run around the water (8 miles) followed by a bike around the water and a run around again to finish, I am tired just telling you about it. The tyres on it were Pilot Sport 4's. Michael and Kathy, leaders of the Burton Car Club, soon arrived with the convoy, which included plenty of Mustangs to the delight of this guy. Rob and chief photographer, Lewis With the rest of Rob's tribe in the Mini, well done to Lewis for decling a ride in a warm car and choosing dad's Westfield. The sun arrived with the convoy. I was car park attendant, Michael at one side of me and Rob at the other side, happy bunny. I would have reversed the Mustang for him if he had asked nicely The white Mustang had a private number plate GALLUP Large quantities of breakfast was consumed before we all went our separate ways. Martyn and Sue joined us for a brew later on. A nice morning meet but nothing quite hits the spot like a crazy Westfield day out, roll on Saturday, bbrrmm, bbrrmm.

  13. Met up with a few members of Burton Motor Club (including Michael in his lovely one off 288GTO replica) and convoyed to Ca**ington to meet @Julie Hall - Peak District AOand @Martyn Vann - Joint Warwickshire AOthis morning. Even managed to get 3 of my lads to come along, a frozen Lewis in the Westfield with me, with Joe and Jesse following in the warm in Joe's MINI. Extremely cold and misty on the way, so a pot of tea and breakfast was certainly needed! Amazing how hungry they all are when dad is paying 😂 Not many people out but great company and a good chat about all things car related, from Westfields to Mustangs. Then a fun blat down the lanes on the way home being chased by my son in his Cooper S... A symphonic duet of induction roar and supercharger whine 👍 Happy New Year indeed 😀

  14. I'll add my two penneth worth, as a relatively new Westie owner (April 2018) In 2015, when I first clapped eyes on what was to become my Westie, I knew I wanted it - it just looked "right" but I had no idea why. Over the next three years, while I tried to prise it out of the hands of the previous owner, I gradually did my research and looked at alternatives. I ended up with a list of what I didn't want, rather than what I did want Screen Swept wings Subtle colour Carbs Bike engine Less than 150bhp Narrow body Live axle Needs work It was only after I bought my car that I realised that money had been spent in the right areas - raceline sump, raceline water rail, Jenvey TBs, Piper cams, some headwork, lightweight gel battery, composite seats, detachable steering wheel, ProRace1 wheels, remote oil filter. I also realised that the build quality was good - lots of little touches, showing an attention to detail and a desire to do it right. I still found quite a few thnigs to change / improve, which was one of the reasons I wanted a Westie in the first place - something to tinker with when the mood took me. After two summers of Westie driving, there's only a couple of things I'd choose if I was able - some more power and some form of heating. However, both would take more time, money and effort than I'm prepared to expend, so it will stay as it is until my lottery numbers come up.... My suggestion would be to view as many cars as you can, talk to as many members as you can and blag a few passenger rides - you'll soon form a clear picture of what you want and then it's just a case of finding a car that gets as close as possible to your "holy grail" spec I like the suggestion above of setting two lists - "must-haves" and "like-to-haves" - some things can be changed quite easily, some less easily, so it's worth knowing what your non-negotiables are in advance. Good luck - you'll love it.

  18. Back home now after the 6th fish and chips run to the east coast. Meeting at the Fox and Grapes were 4 Westfields, 3 Cobras, 1 tiger and a MNR, there would have been another Westfield but I was riding shotgun with Richard due to fried egg related back injury, don't ask. Leaving the pub, we immediately got separated only joining up again a few miles later. We also managed to split up again in a couple of miles. I don't know if it was some new people not used to convoy driving, but we made it to Flamborough together and one of the largest fish I'd eaten. After food, we moved on to the lighthouse for some photos until I saw the parking van come into the car park, so we made a swift exit and on for fuel in Bridlington then home.
