  1. It's not often that we can report positive news from insurance companies, but I've just had a great outcome. I insure my Westie in April each year - currently with Footman James at a cost of £170-ish pa (including both of my sons to drive). When I took out the policy with FJ, they asked if they could quote on a combined plan with the Westie and my daily driver when the renewal came up on the daily The renewal came in for my daily (very leggy Alfa GT diesel) at just £220, so when FJ called, I wasn't holding my breath. However, the total premium for the combined cover came in at £360, but off this, they deducted their normal adming fee (£20) and then applied the refund from cancelling the Westie policy (they align the renewal dates) The end result was a net spend of just £240 to insure both cars and as an added bonus, the mileage is unlimited on both cars! Even next year, the combined premium looks like it will still be a lot less than two separate policies. Chuffed!

  2. A big thanks to the Lancashire and Manchester crew for tuning up and making tonights quiz a success, and a personal thanks from me to Adam for once again helping out with the quiz and a photo of a certain smug person being a sore loser 😂😂

  3. It's done. Black Friday deal. More expensive than I planned and bigger! Your advice was invaluable, I know where to come for great advice and I thank you all. I will definitely be enjoying watching my photos from our Westfield trip to Switzerland back in June.

  4. Once again this thread serves to remind us all what is really important, our health and especially our mental health. I know Adam did not intend to do anything but highlight his situation but it does show no matter how talented a person can be we are all capable of having days where no matter what you do, what you achieve, there is a self doubt, or self loathing or something that stops what others crave being enough for those who acheive it.. It is so important to understand yourself and to be yourself, too many of us have spent too long trying to be the crutch for others, or the clown to pick people up and in the process of helping others we forget ourselves. The hamster wheel will stop if you stop running on it, I have never met Jude or Adam but it is clear they are great people who are both beating, most of the time, what many allow to get the better of them. Hopefully they will understand how many of us think they are both awesome, how could anyone who has done what Adam has and a dog owning Westfield driving Ukulele female could not be anything else😀

  8. Big hike in licence fees. Increase in permit fees including grass roots events. Everyone must have a licence even if the event is just a club event! (There are free licences for the simple club events but looks like they are more than covered by all the other increases. Next year will be a bad year for motorsport in the uk, not only will these changes reduce newcomers, they'll lose existing competitors. goodness me!

  12. That's great Patrick!. Get ready for the questions if you can jump start a Westfield with it 😎 It's also small, light and cheap enough to be gifted to good customers at WSCC Christmas Curry events attended by factory visitors 😉

  20. Labours only hope of being elected is to promise enough free stuff, to enough people who actually believe it. If they got elected they would back track in the same way Nick Clegg did when he reneged on student fees. As for being led by out and out liars, well which past PM's were not partial to telling porky pies? The electorate do not want the truth, they want to hear that their particular problem will be eased. So pensioners want free TV licences and bus passes. Students want free everything, business wants to pay less tax, the public want to pay less tax and the public want a continued and better NHS. At the moment all parties are promising the earth and are all lying through their teeth, as they all do at election time. Across the world we have got the very worst politicians ever in most countries and the world is worse for it.

  21. But the problem is that at the last election the promise of Writing off student loans (equally stupid and never going to happen) was believed and won them Votes from lots of ex-students who thought why not,

  22. Isn't that the whole point of silly season, the few weeks immediately preceeding an election? Some of the 'policies' they are coming out with are pretty ridiculous. "I'll plant a million trees!" "I see your million trees and raise you another million!" "Well poo to you all, I'll do TEN million!" Can't be long before Boris and his chums offer: "Free hookers and blow for everyone!"

  25. I'd been having some issues with my Zetec Blacktop, bogging down, spitting back through the trumpets, too much popping and banging on over run etc. Despite my fiddling, I just couldn't get the carbs to run correctly. After much searching I spoke to Alan who owns Carbcare in Lichfield who has just been out and serviced my twin 45's. What a knowledgeable guy! He works on various classics and kit cars, what he doesn't know about Webers, SU's and Strombergs is worth writing down. He's a real pleasure to talk to and even owns a Robin Hood himself. An hour and a half of his fettling and a quick test drive and all is good! 😁 Apparently he's starting to run some seminars on the dark art of carbs... Only SU's so far, but I've tried to convince him to do one on Webers!
