  1. Yep - exactly the same for me Dave - could do the donuts (eventually) but not go around anything anywhere near where I meant to be going! (well except when wiping out a bunch of Cones anyway)

  2. Happy birthday Dave and Mark love from Glen and Julie xxxx You know the Westfield rule @Mark Redpath - WSCC Membership Secretary on your 50th birthday you have to drive your car dressed as an old granny with painted nails, lipstick and a pearl necklace on, oh and don't forget the pop socks 😁

  3. Haha, as of yet undecided whether it's that, or way over estimating a combination of the reliability of my car and my ability to repair it if/when something goes wrong!

  4. A great fun day, regardless of the weather. Was thrilled to actually manage, (sad I know), to manage a series of proper, tight spinning donuts round a fixed point. (Never really got it without drifting sideways last time I did one of these days.) Even managed to do it with hands off the wheel. Sadly however, i’ll Be beggered if I can do it round the actual cone(s) I’m supposed to be going round I think I need another drift day/lot more practice to get my turn in point right, so I can donut round the damn cones next time, instead of just picking a spot of random tarmac!! 🤣🤪😱 A huge thanks to all the guys that worked so hard in appalling conditions to make it possible, I can’t say I really noticed the rain so much when in the car, but they had to stand out there working in it. Now, where’s the nearest car park.... I need to practice.

  5. IANAL but... Is 'unlawful' synonymous with 'illegal'? As far as divorce courts are concerned concerned adultery is unlawful, but it isn't illegal. It's what my English master would call "A nice point" Murder is illegal because there is a specific law forbidding it. What Boris did was not against any law on the Statute Book, but the Supreme Court has decided that it is unlawful despite there being no laws broken. One is a clear fact, the other is a matter of judgement and, now, precedent.

  7. Just one comment about Greta, based on words from Mark Twain. When I was 14 years old my father was really ignorant. As I got older he improved. When I reached 21 I was amazed how much he had learnt in 7 years.

  11. I reckon I'll be able to compile some of these posts into an article at the end! Got ahead of myself with the mileage - only just over 3k so far. It had to come at some point, but I suffered my first mechanical failure today... ...When my washer jet hose blew off. I can deal with that in exchange for 3050 miles!

  12. lets just say if MSV organised a brewery trip, youd be able to drive home safe in the knowledge of not being anywhere near the limit

  17. Some nylon fishing line works well as a saw-line aswell to prevent damage to the gel coat underneath.

  18. The morning revealed just how nice a spot it was. May have been a little muddy getting there though. My car decided it wanted to try some DIY ceramic exhaust coating.

  24. Still alive and well, just been a busy couple of days and not blessed with great Internet currently in Lithuania! We're booked into a hostel in Poland tomorrow night so I'll get a proper update done then, but in the mean time, here's a picture of the campsite tonight. Tactically dark to hide just how dirty the car is!

  25. How long does it take to drive from Warwickshire to Helsinki? 1806 days. That's 1800 days to build the car, and 6 days to drive it here. Reckon I could cut the driving time down to 5 days at a push though! Today was my first day not doing big mileage. We had a slow start to the day before heading to Helsinki. I picked up some waterproofing spray for the hood and we then hopped on a passenger ferry to check out an 18th century island fort just off the coast. Pretty fascinating place! We then drove just outside Helsinki to find another camping spot in some more woods, cooked a little dinner and settled in for an early night. We're up early again in the morning for a ferry to Tallinn, then driving down to Pärnu where we have a hostel booked tomorrow night so we can get some clothes washed and sleep indoors for a night. Weather tomorrow doesn't look great, but hopefully the forecast might improve overnight!

  26. Unfortunately he bought a 1.8 without realising it was the inferior motor so not quite as many spares to pinch as I would have liked! 😉 Nice little camping spot for the night, other than the 10km gravel track to get there. Views were great though!

  27. True dat. Their election system is clearly broken. It is deonstrably possible to buy the presidency. And of course, gun laws, to name but 3.

  28. Not a good analogy in my opinion. In a lot of ways the USA is a lot more broken than we are.

  29. You both near to be clear about what sort of rear bodywork you have, to avoid confusion! All Independant rear suspension, wide body cars are technically SEiW’s, however the Westfield factory rear anti roll bar is different for ZK (traditional style) and FW, the curvy more modern style, with a built in boot lid. Because the fuel tanks are in different places, the anti roll bars mount in different places, too. The Westfield factory do an antiroll bar specifically for the FW rear end, it’s a fixed, non-adjustable type. As far as I know,t hey don’t do an adaptor kit for ZK use, but always worth asking. The ZK style arb is an adjustable style, and again, I don’t believe there’s an adaptor kit for FW use. Note, if it’s actually an aftermarket ARB like a Siltech or Playskool unit, then they are adjustable and fitting kits for either body style are available. Photos of it on or off the car would clarify things immediately.

  30. Once we have left and Comrade Corbyn is in No.10 he will be free to run up whatever debt and Budget Deficit he likes as outside the EU he won't be constrained by an EU 3% deficit limit (which has recently been temporarily overruled for France as a favour for being one of the founder members).....hence Corbyn wants out but cannot let his younger Labour voters know.
