Update: Good news! My insurance company has authorised the repairs on my car 😌 I was concerned that they might write it off with the estimate of over £5.5k to fix it. Given the complexity and lead times on some of the repair items, it won't be back on the road till next year. Ah well ... 😩

It had been on green for ages..then when I checked was on amber so got booked! Had back issues over passed couple of weeks so put paid to doing donnington.. Hope you have a good test of the gearbox...

A great morning in Lancashire..... couldn’t resist a 6.50am start 😉!!!

In 1976/7 I got an S reg using all old mechanicals. Only thing that was new was the radiator. No mention of Q reg whatsoever. Police inspection was just to check that the engine hadn't been nicked I think. Edited to say that I just found out that Q reg wasn't introduced until 1983, so you couldn't have had one in 1971....

When I registered my first kit car in 1971 I had to provide all receipts proving the parts for the build were new and then a police inspection to check the chassis and engine numbers, this enabled a new K reg otherwise I would had a Q plate. The police inspection was whatever the policeman wanted to check he said.

It was a pleasure to meet you all and have a good old chin wag. I really enjoyed the convoy coming in, the noise and look fo the cars. Such a good variety. Hopefully see you all again sometime.. Regards Patrick

After life getting in the way, spent a bit of time and money and it is now running a healthy and smooth 130bhp after a carb tune. New tyres and tracking and now running great.

A big thanks to everyone who joined in on the run, you all made it what it was. Having been on, and indeed organised, many of these tulip mystery runs back home in NZ (some up to 150 entrants), it's great to know that the formula works just as well with a group of Westies. Certainly gives me encouragement to organise another one, in the hope that a good number more join in on the fun - the more cars entered, the more fun it becomes, with crews crossing paths through the day. The great roads and scenery were a given, Scotland is riddled with them, and the weather really was one out of the bag. The social side is a bonus, everyone had a blast, and no divorce proceedings were undertaken! Having an event where the 'navigators' are having just as much fun can help loosen the purse-strings for that engine swap or new carbon thingy you've been after!👍😉 (or just a new front end in Brian's case, sorry mate, couldn't resist). So on those notes, I have already started thinking of route options for next year, and the more I think about it, the start and finish will more than likely remain the same, given the Cairn Lodge services is well placed and has plenty of space and there is plenty of accomodation options in Peebles for those who wish to stay over on the Saturday night. A new thread for 2020 will be posted in, well, 2020 - start of January. That gives plenty of notice for folk to schedule calendars and sort accomodation if required, for late August/early Sept (tba). Again, thanks to all on the run. The rest? - come and join us, it's a hoot.

I've spoken to this company today: https://www.revtronic.com/ Very knowledgeable. However they can't fix mine currently and have a pile (circa 15) with the same defect. They are blocked by BMW and Magnerti Marelli to the parts needed to repair them. I soon had access to the offending item (CCC) Car Central Computer Same size as a conventional audio head unit, even if buried in the dash! Made in Slovakia Nicely colour coded rear sockets No HDD inside unit: Put it all back together again and it's still not working. The fuse box labelling is so confusing, It was quicker/easier to pull the unit out than work out which fuse feeds the unit. I'll go an do battle with my BMW Main Stealer now!

Not after that dreadful accident last year and everyone getting stuck upside down earlier this year! Think i will give that one a miss.......
