  1. Tango Man went on a trip to Omex earlier this year: However given his reputation for misbehavior, they found a way to limit this: We don't know what he did at Omex, however this is how they shipped him back! He does like snow: but is easily confused: Time for a wash and bed, now: Sleeep well Tango Man.

  4. I voted leave, with a working assumption it would be painful for some years after the event, but longer term, much better for us. I was in no way swayed or influenced by either sides arguments as I simply don’t trust any of the lying b******ds. I firmly believe that politicians have three stages of being. Thinking about the next lie, actually speaking that lie, just finished a lie and working up to stage 1 again.

  5. Welcome to running a business Seriously though, I hope you can make this work because it is a good day out. Perhaps it could be priced at cost to make it more attractive, and mark it down as customer-brand relationship building...

  6. So you want to go on a road trip around Europe for a couple of months. You have 3 vehicles: A nice, comfortable lexus IS200 estate. Mazda bongo campervan with full interior conversion and pop up roof. Westfield that's just passed its IVA after nearly 5 years of building. Let's be honest, despite the lack of heater, questionable weather resistance, and general noisiness, would it ever be anything but the Westfield? Doors and half hood on, my new steering wheel with quick release boss fitted, and a little practical storage added. Found a neat place to mount my jack in the engine bay. Very simply a strap riveted to the panel over the gearbox: I unfortunately didn't realise until after I'd cut chunks out of it that my boot box was for a short range tank, whereas I've got a long range one so I don't currently have a boot box. Only a plastic top which looks like it doesn't come off. This actually works out quite well, because it means I've got a place to secure my tools when road tripping. I made up a little frame from some aluminium box and angle section and riveted it in in front of the fuel tank. This holds an aluminium case which is good for the basic tools. Then my big socket set sits nicely on top of that. Other than fitting number plates when I get some post from the DVLA, the car is ready to go on a big road trip... And go on a big road trip it will. I've been keeping a little quiet about this as I was terrified of anything going wrong, but at this point, I've done everything I can. Pretty much as soon as I have registration plates on the car, I'll be hopping on a ferry to Holland, before driving to Germany, then Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and off down to Eastern Europe for a few weeks before coming back across the Alps at the end of October. The initial plan was for this to be a 3 month trip with me in the westie and my friend in his MX5, but unfortunately my build took longer than I had expected, so I've missed the first leg up through Norway to the Arctic circle. Once I hit the road, I'll be covering some pretty big miles every day to try to catch my friend up in Finland. Once I've got registration plates, it will literally be a case of finding somewhere to get my ride height sorted and wheels aligned, and then I'll be off on the ferry the next day. I'm hoping to get NMS to sort my alignment as they're not that far away from me and know Westfields, but if anyone has any other garage recommendations for alignment around the Midlands/Warwickshire, let me know!

  7. It's rather amazing that the trade club evolved into something quite so big or all powerful. It's in the interest of all the countries of the EU to have a good exit with the UK after all they want to sell us wine, cars etc, we are a big economy. Also if there people vote to leave they want there country to be able to do so in a sensible way.. But The EU is not interested in what is good for its Member states, only in it self, by ensuring non of them leave.

  8. That sounds epic the run to the IVA test and back should at least give you some confidence in the reliability of the car and build. When I was building mine I'd always said that when it was finished I would drive it to LeMans, so sure enough a month after it was completed I set off on the 1200 mile drive across france.

  10. Absolutely, I understand the commitment required to make it happen. But to propose an event is not committing Westfield or any attendees and would therefore simply be gauging interest? I am confident that most tracks have a dedicated team who can email over a variety of packages from just track hire to full on hospitality events without any commitment. I am just saying, I think it might be a little premature to suggest an event, without any confirmation of costs and locations, and withdraw it because there is not enough interest.

  11. What a fantastic baptism of fire you have planned! I can't wait to read the blog on that and definitely a Westfield World article in the making...hint, hint! Best of luck.

  12. Surely without formally announcing a Southern event it is unfair to state that there is not enough interest to justify running it? I believe the Southern event would as popular, possibly more so than other events. I would think that folk would be prepared to travel maybe 100 miles, possibly 150 to attend the event, so if there was only to be one event the Midlands would be a better geographical location for maximum interest and uptake? Personally I could not justify the 250 miles to to the northern event.

  14. I’ve booked my westfield in for a run on the rollers at the end of sept. The plan is to give it a run and see what she puts out. Then the discussion of what needs to be done and what is worth doing. I’m running a red top with SBD throttle bodies, so it’s going to be interesting.

  15. A long read but bear with me...... For ages I've been thinking about why the ASBO was running a bit lean, along with that it was running a bit rough on tick-over, sometimes it would almost stall, then it would bounce to 1500 rpm and repeat until I intervened with some throttle. Add to that the pops and bangs on gear change and over-run that were just a tad too much even for the ASBO. To top that off it's been running hot, and a couple of times it's refused to start for a while after parking up. A bit of background on the ASBO, it's a Factory built SEiGHT with a fuel injected 3950 Rover V8, the only mods I've done to the engine are a baffled trapdoor sump and a wind-age tray. The stages of running the problems to ground were as follows. One of the tech guys at the factory stuffed a small bolt into the open end of a bit of hose that was connected near to the 'Flapper Valve'(not sure if it's called that but I reckon it's a good name for it..... and whatever it does), that smoothed the tick-over out a bit. I removed, cleaned and replaced the K & N Air filter, another slight improvement. I removed and cleaned the M A F Sensor with carb. cleaner, again another improvement. I dived into a box of shiny new bits I purchased from John Eales a few years ago, I changed all 8 plugs, the rotor arm and distributor cap and all of the HT leads. One of the distributor outputs was corroded in a way that reminded me of an old battery....... Again an improvement in the general running and a lot less lumpy-ness in the tick-over but it still lacked something, and managing the engine temp. was still challenging. A Radtech radiator with 50mm cores and a new expansion tank & Cap, (the last one in the country apparently) filled with proper blue Glycol and not that pink carp (Radtech's words not mine) plus a newer version of the same fan that was fitted have sorted the effective cooling, the fan now defeats the engine heat (if that makes sense) but it takes a while! Yesterday I visited a local Land Rover specialist, I pointed my non technical finger at the M A F Sensor and said "got one of those?"..... "Nope.... but if you want to wait a lifetime or two we can get you one, it'll be £1050 plus the vat..... or you can have a Tradefit one for £118 inclusive of VAT " No brainer..... "how soon?" says I.... "12:00 o'bells say the man"..... and true to his word whilst having my old gits health MOT at the quacks the phone rang to say come get it. Well I waited until today to fit it...... and I really wish I hadn't, what an amazing difference, the ASBO is back to full nutter, and no more pops and bangs, it's just smooth uninterrupted lunacy from tick-over to O-Dear how do I survive this...... I shall be ordering a spare one of these Anti-Depressant devices on Monday..... no longer will I ponder the troubles of the ailing V8...... It just goes to show how the abundance of cylinders can overcome such a mix of problems and still function...... So on to the word "Brain".... if the ASBO was equipped with more brain power , and i had been born brighter could we have fixed it sooner??? Answers on a small postcard please...... A very happy Nem.......

  16. But that wasn't the choice. Yes the Liberals and Labour are trying their best to make us believe it was but it just plain wasn't and no amount of wishing will make it so. The vote was in or out. We voted out. NO-ONE voted for a deal of any kind. The "deal" is all about politics getting in the way of the will of the people and that is the scandal here. For all the press bashing Boris it seems to be that he at least understands that he is the servant of the people and the people voted out, plain and simple. No deal, no coercion, no corruption. We were offered a choice and whether we now selectively decide to believe politicians or not, we voted out.

  18. We put the feelers out in terms of hosting an event especially for WSCC members. We had extremely good interest, which is very much appreciated. Based on that interest, we proposed a date and location up north. We had to wait for the southern event as it's a track we haven't used previously... Three Sisters Race course was chosen for the northern event, it is a venue we have used previously with great success. As the season is coming to and end we are conscious that the event/s need to happen quickly. To secure the date and track (before another company picks the date and books it), payment was required. We have viewed Santa Pod as a suitable venue for the southern event, however as we haven't filled the space for the northern event we cannot therefore commit to another drift day. If we have minimum 15 participants willing to commit to the Santa Pod (Date to be confirmed - working on it) that can go ahead. At present it's just the northern Three Sisters Racecourse drift day will happen, if the numbers add up. To make Three Sisters event viable minimum numbers of 15 is required to run the day. Unfortunately if the numbers cannot be confirmed the event would have to be cancelled.

  20. Nope. Anyone seen anything factual reported from either remain or leave camps? Didn't think so I think the Lib Dems want a second referendum because they are (seemingly) the only party who currently look at evidence to make decisions. Things have changed in 3 years. People are entitled to change their minds. I can't honestly believe that anyone sane who voted to leave in June 2016 would have done so had that been a choice between 'remain' and 'no deal'. The picture painted by the leave camp was quite a pretty one, the reality was never going to be as such.

  21. I’ve ordered all the bits to convert my bike and the due delivery date is today!... i’m Just going for a rear wheel motor type drive. 250w /1000w switchable so it will be road legal. I’m going to hide as much of the gubbins as possible like battery and controller on a rear rack. I looked at the mid drive setups but it Seems a lot of torque to power though a normal bike chain/ sprockets/ freewheel unless they are updated as well.

  22. Confirmation that we will have a guided tour of Electric Classic Cars in Newtown. The clue is in the name, they are specialists in converting classic cars into electric power. So if your Ferrari’s engine goes bang this is certainly an alternative. They also have an electric Westfield, it’s been on their stand at the EVO show this week but hopefully will be back at the factory on Saturday.

  25. They are the way they are because they are only really accountable at an election. It is harder to get an MP out than getting your kids back from social service as both feature unfathomable procedures. My pet hate is an MP can be voted in from one party then switch sides and are able to carry on. Chuka Umunna has had three parties so far in this session but not had the decency to resign and call a by election. His and others decision to cross the floor deny their constituents of the party they voted for. In the states they are going through discussions again that would disbar anyone from becoming a career senator. Some have been in the job for decades and come in with high aspirations and then forget them between elections and become fabulously wealthy as a result. Perhaps we should do the same which would stop some of the more loathsome people who hang in there. Kieth Vaz and Dianne Abbott , Ken Clarke and Nicholas Soames spring to mind as examples of that. Jared O'Mara has done nothing for his constituents and said he intended to resign, but never quite got round to it now saying he is staying until the end of this parliament so able to vote in the house, if he goes there. It is ridiculous and no wonder people trust politicians so little.

  26. The problem is there is so much misinformation coming from the remain side that people are confused. We live in a parliamentary democracy, that is we the public give our votes for MP's to act on our behalf and that is true. However when they asked us for our vote in a "once in a lifetime decision" they gave democracy and the decision making power back to us and every party said they would honour that result and carry out the countries wishes. We have not given back that part to the MP's which is what those who want to stop Brexit do not get. What is now happening is MP's who do not wish to do as instructed have tried every thing they can to stop it and as I see it they have succeeded in that aim. Now we have a PM who has no negotiating power with the EU, is being hounded by the "rebel alliance" and an opposition leader who does not want an election as he wants to enshrine in law that no PM can leave the EU without a deal. If he was confident of winning he would not need that in place. In all my years I have never seen such underhand tactics and abuse of power against the will of the people. Just because remainers can muster shouty groups at the drop of a hat does not mean they represent the will of the people, the only measure of that was the referendum. Where we go from here is anyone's guess but I suspect there will be tactical voting like never before and this will be followed by another referendum which will be upheld if we vote to stay and ignored again if we vote to leave, or more likely the question will be so ambiguous and stacked that leave will be unable to win. However you voted and I respect everyone's choice, the way our parliament has acted is shameful.
    1 point
  27. It's not a belief system, it was a referendum, and the majority voted to leave. Lets imagine this was a general election and Party A won by 52 - 48. Would you actually believe that despite the result, Party B should be in power? Believe what you will but in the last referendum that we really REALLY cared about, Leave won. Irrespective of belief or party or whatever machinations we hang our hats on, the result of a democratic election should, and indeed must be honoured. To me any POLITICIAN who says "we can stop Brexit" should resign because they clearly and fundamentally do not believe in or understand how democracy works.

  30. He's even modelled for Album covers, back in the day: To wet your appetite for what's to come, I will show what happened when he was kidnapped and taken to a well known UK ECU Manufacturer. However let's stick with the international theme for a while longer....... He like's to stay up to date with WSCC topic, whist he's away: He likes his 'pop' too: However, once he's had a few, there's no stopping his misbehaviour. Here he is, interfering with the livestock - The 'Goat with a Scroat': All the cold running water, had an effect on him: Fortunately, married life, does seem to have calmed him down:

  35. Well I've had better days.. Weather was good. The track was a bit damp in places on the first session, and the slicks seemed to take an age to get any warmth in them, but Ok eventually. Gear change is still giving me grief. Tried shimming the stick with washers, which made it worse, so reverted back and just lived with it. Was getting some good sessions on track up until late afternoon, when I just couldn't get any gears. Pushed the car on the trailer, and thought I'd get a head start on the rush hour traffic on the Edinburgh bypass.. nah! failed. On top of all that the Vbox logger seems to have packed up, so no data to overlay on any vids. Plus the videos I have got are a bit shakey. I broke a stubby mount and was using a taller one, that's not up to it. Lonely trackdays-r-us.
