Just been alerted to this (worldwide) app by my paramedic Son. Works by gps and it will pinpoint your location to a 3 metre square. Each 3 metre square is designated by 3 words, which when given to the emergency services alerts them to your exact location. Emergency services, search and rescue, some breakdown services. Anyway, perhaps worth a look...3 points

yep, Ian can repair it. I've used him a few times, he's very good. He has a website oddified.com Ian modified my 967 ecu so it will accept a 0v -5v wide band lambda feed rather than narrow band.. He will bench test the ECU then let you know what needs changing.2 points

Boris’ new Brexit negotiating team? A low-budget remake of The Great Escape? The Bladder Busters? Where Bald Eagles Dare? Das Boot Box? No idea, give me a clue. 🤣2 points

I’ve booked my westfield in for a run on the rollers at the end of sept. The plan is to give it a run and see what she puts out. Then the discussion of what needs to be done and what is worth doing. I’m running a red top with SBD throttle bodies, so it’s going to be interesting.1 point

It's the same issue with E-Bikes. Surely one of the most environmentally friendly methods of personal transport.. NOT, driving a 2.5 tonne Tesla powered by electric generated envirobadly, and made with huge carbon foot print and enviromental foot print from around the world..Rant over and E-verted! E-Bikes are required to be limited to about 15.5 MPH making them slower than a normal bike and more dangerous when in traffic. 20MPH would make them actually a very sensible commuting choice, but then they would be classed as a motorised bike and not be allowed on cycle paths.. then there would be tax, MOT and insurance etc, which pretty much kills it..1 point

It's a home brew job. Tbf, I've beefed up other bits that have failed, and it's the first time this particular bit of my design has failed. I can see room for further beefage to be built into the repair. 🙂 Will let you know how I get on. The current pads have hopefully another day in them. I'm going to try to remember to swap them at the end of the next day, and bed the new ones in. If I actually manage to do that, it'll be a first! 😄1 point

Looks (and sounds) like you had an eventful but good day Andrew! Thanks for sharing the vids. Gutted I couldn't make it, love Anglesey.1 point

Looks like you had a good day @Andrew Anglesey is one of my favourite tracks. I have only been twice so far, first time had a garage to shelter from the wind and rain, 2nd time to get shade from baking hot sun middle of last year. I think I know which I prefer1 point

It is hard to read this thread because I know just how some of you will feel. And to me this is the huge problem with the way the NHS is now. When you are low you need help now, but instead you will try to get an appointment with your GP, who will usually chuck meds at you in the hope that in a few weeks time it will work. Then make an appointment to see a specialist by which time you may feel better. If you were stinking rich you would immediately see someone privately who understands more about the issues than others do and may focus thought quicker but even the wealthiest suffer but get help quicker. There still is a lack of understanding on mental health, most people will understand reading Jude's story understand why her problems are not easy to deal with, but Adam, successful Mclaren owning business man they will struggle to make any sense of why and that will include some in the medical profession, hence the chuck pills at the issue approach. I found using self hypnosis tapes and talking about my issues helped me, but no one can really know what works as we are all different, but one thing I know is trying to cope on your own is not the best way. What I also know is having people around you who are willing to listen is a great support to have, they cannot fix you but they can be a crutch just when you need it most.1 point

We used these when we were in Vienna and they're awesome! It was via Bird though, but principle/process was identical. Vienna is a lovely, sprawling, quiet city with excellent cycle paths though. I can't see these working in the UK until cycle networks improve. No different from riding an ebike in my book and they're allowed, so why not?1 point

Andrew, slightly weird that the picture above is almost the same as the picture at the bottom of your post!! Even the hand position.1 point

Well I cant say I've had a good night sleep, but here goes.. Weather forecast didn't look bad for Monday, but Sunday night in a tent was looking a bit blowy! It turned out to be not too bad, and I got a half decent night's kip, .. heard the patter of rain at some point in the darkness, but arose to a cloudy but dry morning. We got the sighting laps out of the way and just as we prepared for our first session.. it started to rain.. very lightly but definitely rain! 😞 I hurriedly strapped in and headed out hoping I'd get a few laps before the track was too wet for slicks.. and it stopped raining. Yay! The track wasn't even damp. And that was the last of the rain we saw. The remainder of the day was sunny, but with a stiff breeze blowing across the back straight off the sea. Having recently had the six speed box rebuilt, I was hoping it would be OK. It was, but after the first session I came in and the gear stick felt horribly loose. I'd had the actual gear lever apart to give it a clean and some fresh grease, .. something was amiss. The bottom of the lever was nearly disengaging from the extension. I was quite pleased the problem was in there rather than in the actual gearbox. Had a bit of an adjustment.. removed some washers between stick and extension, and got it better, but definitely not what you'd call slick. Stuck with it for the day.. Will give it some serious looking at some time. Next little niggle.. Coasting in after a good session.. bwooosh! a load of coolant blew out from the expansion tank into the passenger footwell. I've had this before.. usually if the expansion tank is overfilled.. but I don't remember it being too full this time. Anyway, I let it cool down, replaced some of the lost coolant, and crossed fingers. Next few sessions I was watching the temp gauge.. it seemed to be fairly stable between 80 and 90 and then would suddenly rise over 100. Backing off instantly brought the temp back down. Back to the paddock, checked.. low coolant level .. added some more water.. back out on track. The temps did much the same again, and again I added more water. Mike Whitty noticed a hissing from the cap at one point, so as I had a spare, I plonked that on. The coolant temp was then stable for the last few sessions.. I was even trying to stay out longer than usual just to prove it was fixed, but thankfully the driver overheated before the engine! Presuming it was just an air lock Had some good sessions on track with Mike and Stoney. Unfortunately some of the gopro footage looks a bit foggy. Not sure if some dampness got inside the case, or I've wiped the lens with a grotty rag. There's a couple that seem OK, so will get a couple of vids up soon. We even got the odd train going now and again.1 point

I decided to spend more on the walls as the floor was made of lots of additions where the garage has grown over the years 4 sections of different concrete all cracked... how thick is the epoxy, will it still cover a bumpy floor (not bothered if it’s not level) and can it be put over regular floor paint? My floor has 2 coats of trade paint from screw fix on a unprepped floor and seems to be fine so far. But I’d love epoxy. ps the parking bays keep the toys in a sensible place so the kit car fits behind without getting out and moving every time.1 point

A change of scene/perspective can certainly help, but it's so hard to run away from yourself. (Without resorting to chemistry/alcohol, at least).1 point

Living that one right now. Lost my confidence, feeling all those emotions we have ambled through.. Frustratingly my eyes keep leaking unbidden and for no reason... Now do I go back on my meds or try... Yet again.. To rise above it. My default is to run away and already mentally planning to escape in my motor home. This means leaving the Westfield behind which upsets me. A one way ticket mid September is becoming a reality Actually EVERYTHING upsets me.. 😭 Ps. I don't usually communicate when I'm having a low episode. Perhaps just to demonstrate my support for others is based on my own reality.1 point

Sadly, it was late, alcohol had been well, ahem, consumed, and got caught completely out of the blue with a simple, harmless “campfire questions” type game. Before you know it it’s that instant slam in the guts whammy of the fight or flight reflex cutting in, or in this case a complete mental freeze like a rabbit in the car headlights. Trouble is, when suddenly you find your brain has just jumped back to some prehistoric mode, it’s very difficult to explain why you appear to have instantly turned into a bit of a d**k, which of course then just piles embarrassment into the mix, and makes it worse! Been trying to work up to apologise to those who probably thought I’d gone mad, or was just being an awkward ****, but daft as it sounds, it’s still to raw; that horrible, hot feeling of shame just boils back up and takes control! No matter how hard it is to actually practice what you preach though, I can only say the same thing as others have, talk, find someone, sometimes it’s easier if you don’t really know them, there are lots of services out there, and talk. To that end, I can’t promise an expert ear, but if all you need is an ear to listen, my contact details are all over my posts, just reach out, pm, email, mobile, it doesn’t matter.1 point

@judder oh, that's a shame, maybe next year. Central-belters - mind the overnight stay isn't compulsory, come join the day-run, that's the best bit. As has been said above, this is the last actual organised run of the year for us so it would be great to see as many as possible before our cars are tucked away in their snow-shelters. BBC Weather is so far showing a dry day on Saturday, so that's encouraging.1 point
