  2. My '2nd home' Nuremberg has been 'invaded' by a plague of escooters since my last trip! They are owned by a Swedish company: https://www.voiscooters.com/ You use an App to find them. Here's the closest ones to my hotel this morning: They are parked street-side with no physical lock or charging station: You just scan the barcode and push three times to get them moving: It shows you the charge level before you set off and the costs, up front. And a few rules: Controls are simple: brake on the left thumb operated throttle right and blue bars to indicate charge status> At the end of your ride you can lock and end or reserve and end (not sure how long you can reserve for, yet?). You take a pic and upload it to prove you've parked it sensibly. and you get your bill straight away (I've linked it to my paypal). My normal 30 min walk has taken only 10 mins today! This shows how many are available in the city: This is probably 5km wide. Be great to see them in the UK, but stories like this won't help: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2019/jul/13/tv-presenter-emily-hartridge-dies-in-scooter-crash

  3. Will try. Iโ€™ll post a yes/no nearer the time. Have to complete an expert witness statement for a court case which needs to be complete before I can commit. At least I now have the added incentive to get down to it.

  4. Well I cant say I've had a good night sleep, but here goes.. Weather forecast didn't look bad for Monday, but Sunday night in a tent was looking a bit blowy! It turned out to be not too bad, and I got a half decent night's kip, .. heard the patter of rain at some point in the darkness, but arose to a cloudy but dry morning. We got the sighting laps out of the way and just as we prepared for our first session.. it started to rain.. very lightly but definitely rain! ๐Ÿ˜ž I hurriedly strapped in and headed out hoping I'd get a few laps before the track was too wet for slicks.. and it stopped raining. Yay! The track wasn't even damp. And that was the last of the rain we saw. The remainder of the day was sunny, but with a stiff breeze blowing across the back straight off the sea. Having recently had the six speed box rebuilt, I was hoping it would be OK. It was, but after the first session I came in and the gear stick felt horribly loose. I'd had the actual gear lever apart to give it a clean and some fresh grease, .. something was amiss. The bottom of the lever was nearly disengaging from the extension. I was quite pleased the problem was in there rather than in the actual gearbox. Had a bit of an adjustment.. removed some washers between stick and extension, and got it better, but definitely not what you'd call slick. Stuck with it for the day.. Will give it some serious looking at some time. Next little niggle.. Coasting in after a good session.. bwooosh! a load of coolant blew out from the expansion tank into the passenger footwell. I've had this before.. usually if the expansion tank is overfilled.. but I don't remember it being too full this time. Anyway, I let it cool down, replaced some of the lost coolant, and crossed fingers. Next few sessions I was watching the temp gauge.. it seemed to be fairly stable between 80 and 90 and then would suddenly rise over 100. Backing off instantly brought the temp back down. Back to the paddock, checked.. low coolant level .. added some more water.. back out on track. The temps did much the same again, and again I added more water. Mike Whitty noticed a hissing from the cap at one point, so as I had a spare, I plonked that on. The coolant temp was then stable for the last few sessions.. I was even trying to stay out longer than usual just to prove it was fixed, but thankfully the driver overheated before the engine! Presuming it was just an air lock Had some good sessions on track with Mike and Stoney. Unfortunately some of the gopro footage looks a bit foggy. Not sure if some dampness got inside the case, or I've wiped the lens with a grotty rag. There's a couple that seem OK, so will get a couple of vids up soon. We even got the odd train going now and again.

  6. Hello everyone, my name is Nick Bailey and I am a relatively new member and live around the corner from Dave Eastwood in Congleton. I have a ex Paul Pocklington 1989 1700 pushrod Westy which I have entered in the Speed Series. Terry Everall has provided some great initial advice on how to get started and I now plan to make a delayed season entry at 3 Sisters on 1st Sept. I'd like to get some spare wheels and tyres for it as backup. Its fitted with 10 spoke 15 x 8 alloys by 'DJ Racing' (see attached). Does anyone know where I might source these please? ( 4 1\4 pdi and 5 1\2 offset in old money) I believe the uprights/ hubs are Ford mk 3/4/5. Also some sources for List 1A TOYO PROXES -T1 would be usefull. 195/50/15 82V Cheers in anticipation of any answers:-) Nick.

  8. Having seen these in the flesh, they are a very high quality, with the bowls made from on piece of carbon rather than being joined. If anyone has ever used pre preg carbon they will now how difficult this really is to achieve.

  10. Fir wise, it rather depends on your build, the factory grp seats, (Tillets aside, I'm not sure what they're like, for room) are quite narrow fitting, so if you have a large frame, or are ahem, well covered, the Sports Seats are more accommodating. When I did the drift day's five years ago, or so, I was about 20 stone, (and 6'1") and fitted the cars easily enough.

  11. I have a very rare Saturday off, so weather permitting, it would be a bit rude for me not to be there, especially as I'm only about 6 miles away

  14. Great to see you looking for feedback Patrick, hats off to you. My only suggestion would be as youโ€™ve already said to use the shop like a customer, youโ€™re clearly on the forums alot (again kudos for this) so maybe when you see a product โ€˜wantedโ€™ or being discussed in a thread - go to the parts dept and search for it yourself by the part name and see if it is intuitive to find. Keep up the good work ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

  17. Westfield won't sell anything that requires welding to the chassis. The new type lowered floor pans are steel and entirely welded on. The old type were aluminium, BUT, had a pair of fabricated steel straps, that supported them from below, and provided the seat mounts, and these straps were welded on. The long and short of it, is if you want some, make them, or have them made.
