  1. After our monthly meeting, and @Julie Hall - Peak District AO and Glen finally deciding to come 😊, we now have another 5 possibly 6 more people coming. That makes 40. I'll collect your money, and sort it out when we get there. How many in Westfields? I am. As I said before, the road in is a bit "dodgy" so be careful. We'll park in the top car park, better photo opportunities. Looking forward to it, see you all Sunday morning.

  4. A forecast of showers later here so we will take a punt on that and come in the Westfield, that's what it is there for isn't it? to go to garagey places with the club. It doesn't shrink if it gets wet and the muck soon washes off 😀

  5. Regular service items, possibly with engine specific kits, too. Nothing complicated, just the right fluids filters etc for a Zetec, Ecoboost or whatever, then things like the brake pad sets for the various calipers used on Westfields. All low margin things for sure, but they’re the staples that help keep existing owners coming back to look at the web store, where you then get the opportunity to sell us other accessories. Great to see things like the fastener packs too, so like I did, over the phone, owners doing rebuilds etc could just order a front or rear suspension bolt pack etc. I don’t know if it’s still the case, but certainly once upon a time, there used to be lots of different little brackets, covers, trim bits etc that would be routinely used on factory builds, sat in the parts store, that very few home builders knew existed, so wouldn’t think to ring up and ask about them! Again, anything like that, if there’s still stuff around. As Steve said, the search engine can be very hit and miss, I do use it. But I also like to just browse by section, typically when looking for the things I didn’t know I needed!

  6. I've always found the search to be a bit 'clumsy' to use. For example searching for 'brakes' brings up 9 items, 7 of which are wheels and tyres. Searching for 'brake' brings up lots more brake related items. Searching for 'windscreen' you would expect the windscreens and windscreen kits to be top of the results but they're not, they're well down the list. Hope that makes sense. The only other niggle for me (but your probably already aware of this) Is the parts that say 5-6 week lead times, but when you call up they are sat on the shelf. For example item 6313017/6435006 bonnet fitting kit. For the past 2 years this has shown 5-6 week lead. Yet on the 3 occasions I've rung up they've been in stock and I've bought them there and then. But how many people see the lead time and then say sod that and go elsewhere without phoning?

  7. R1Rs excellent in wet. I've just managed to get hands on a new set 😁 So there are a few about if you hunt high n low!

  8. As Maurici, had good results with soft 888s in the wet, faster than many 'dedicated' sprint cars on 'proper' wets. Perhaps driver skill / seat time is the key

  9. I'm comming to state the obvious: Setup in the car is much more important than the tyres you use in wet as long as they are not fully slick (and even so...). In my old, soft and nice to drive former car... Using TOYOs in wet conditions, I was in a regular basis faster than sprint dedicated cars with proper wet Avon’s. None of my competitors giving it a go with road-ish- tyres was anywhere near to me, Even with apocalyptic conditions in MIRA where the waves generated by my car approaching the final turn were higher than my roll cage. However, right now with a stiffer setup, the car is undriveable to the point to pack up and go home if some drops of rain are appearing during the timed runs. In my opinion, if you are driving to a point where toyos 888 can’t cope with the rain, you should not be playing with you luck on the track. If you are still looking for something better than 888 in wets, I would not go for any road tires in such a light car, and will try the Toyos R1R if they are still available.
