  1. Yesterday evening saw the North Oxford Group enjoy our monthly meeting at the Rock of Gibraltar pub at Enslow. The weather was definitely suitable for Westfields and, despite several of the group being away on holiday, four of Kingswinford's finest came out. We sat outside and I ended up chatting to a couple from Mid Wales who were visiting Oxfordshire for this weekend's Countryfile Live show at nearby Blenheim Palace. We soon got onto the subject of good Welsh roads over which to enjoy sports cars. I am pleased to report that I knew every single one that he suggested (I'm down there a lot for scenic tours and stage rallies)! I then had a longer chat with another couple who had been driving by and saw the Westfields parked outside. They have a Lotus Elan +2 and the gentleman was looking for something a little more track focused. He was aware of Westfield Elevens and was appreciative of a good look over mine and seemed to be heading off to consider either buying one ready built or considering building his own! I have discovered with my car that not only do you buy into Westfield ownership with an Eleven but it's close similarity with it's Lotus inspiration taps you into another vein of interest - and the two marques seem to sit comfortably together (unlike some less well conceived replicas of other "classics"). 3. Not exacly a road trip or a place you can visit, however it seemed the most appropriate forum section (Mod's feel free to move). We've jokingly refered to @Greenstreak-Andy D as 'Dad' on our overseas adventures and it seems quite appropriate when his son and his girlfriend were unable to join Andy for the Bentley Motors 100 Year celebration for workers and their families. Hence he kindly took @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary and I along on Sun 14th July 2019. Here's some pics of the great day out! a few 'old uns' parked outside. Final inspection area to check for paint defects: the 'Engine marriage' process A nice 'jester' seat! Rubarb and Custard flavoured wheel? I can't imagine this staying white for long! Red interior Nice subtle details on the brake cooling exit ducts: 21 miles of 45KG loom Assembly line (not running). The green gorilla buckets are used for waste as the workers fit out the car. A hybrid power train (hence the orange cables) Matt finish? Colour choice More proof than money can't buy you taste 😄 Finished engine: A part built W12 A proud employee: A proud employee enjoying the free fair rides The future? The footballer's favorite? A cracking day, out. Thanks 'Dad'!

  4. The Carding Shed tour is now booked. I have 33 confirmed names, @Robin (Red Spider) - Yorkshire AO+2, @Breakable?+1, @BugMan, @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary, @Dave (OnliestSmeg) - Manchester AO+1, @BillyPee+1, @Diggsy, @CosKev, @CraigHew, @Nic (NICO) - Shropshire and Mid-Wales AO+1 @W Shep, @Never Too Old+1 @Paul Hurdsfield, @Barnsley John+1 @Dylan, @neptune, @matthew902+2, @kik1.6se+3, @John Williams - Blyton Organiser+1 The tour starts at 9am with a breakfast (vegetarian option available) then the tour itself at 10 when the café opens to the public. It lasts around 2 hours. Due to the early start, I will be at the Red Kite (WF4 3BB) at 8am, leaving at 8:15 aiming to get to the Carding Shed for 8:45. @Dave (OnliestSmeg) - Manchester AO is organising a meeting point for people coming from his side. The Carding Sheds address is, Washpit Mills, Green Lane, Holmfirth, HD9 2RD. There are 2 car parks, we will park in the top one, newer and better photos. The road in is a bit "dodgy", so be careful. If anyone else wishes to join, extra places can be paid for on the day. Thanks to all who's coming, and looking forward to a good morning.

  5. Essex area monthly meet is on Sunday 11th August from 09.00 to circa 12.00 at the Toby Carvery, Runwell Road, Wickford SS11 7QJ for a buffet breakfast and a ‘blat’ out afterwards for those that fancy it. For those that have not been before we usually park in the main car park which is left past the entrance behind the trees. I'm not able to make this meet as on holiday - Rob Bannister has kindly agreed to deputise for me.

  12. Ta Julie. If it helps, I'm actually from Sheffield 😉 Will set off in good time to be there well before 1030, so if I'm not there no need to wait. But if it's a decent morning I'll definitely be there

  13. On a secondary note, I'm going to go through the complete bike parts area (what remains of it) and list all remaining items we have here before the end of the month.

  15. Enjoyed it too, despite working at Bentley over 5 years as an exterior hardware engineer, I found it fascinating seeing the oily bits and interior trim options. Fairground rides are not my thing though! Andy

  19. August is out for me, but might be able to swing a day or two in September - with a little luck! Been a serious lack of track time for me this year, so would like to get some in during the Indian Summer heatwave that I predict 😁

  20. It’s now August, so that means it’s only 23 sleeps ‘til the Mystery Navigation Run! Who else is up for the challenge for navigating around some cracking near-deserted roads and lanes south of Glasgow? For those already joining, here’s what you’ll need to think about bringing… 1. A pen 2. A clipboard (recommended, and with a second clip at the bottom) 3. Wet weather protection of some sort, be it a jacket, a roof, or at least something to keep the route book dry but still readable (poly-pockets?) – although August is technically summer! So hydration wouldn’t go a miss either. 4. A sense of adventure, humour, and direction will make it a fun day to remember! The organisers hold no responsibility for divorce proceedings due to navigator map-reading errors!

  23. @Robin (Red Spider) - Yorkshire AO at the moment we are weather watching in anticipation of going to Snowdonia, it's looking unlikely for next week if this rain carries on, meaning it may be the week after, which incorporates Sunday 11th August. I will have to say no for now I am afraid but we have just gone from heat wave to flooding in one week, so anything could happen.

  24. Hey Everyone! The sun has been shining (mostly) and everyone's been moaning it's too hot (tradition) but I have started seeing my local Kit owners out and about! So if you're looking at getting your pride and joy out for the summertime, almost finished building or perhaps it's still in bits! We have more Kit Car schemes than ever available to us and policies from fully comprehensive cover to laidup/build cover - so there should be something for everyone Now the bad news: I am on maternity leave still so you can't have the absolute pleasure of speaking to me on the phone - I'm still online supporting though as I have a genuine love for the clubs and still want to look after you all. My team in the office are just as awesome (or nearly) and will look after you - 01635 874646 if you want a quote, or to request a call back pop some details in here: https://www.aplan.co.uk/common-pages/get-a-quote?root=1109&page=1695&int=809 Much love! 28. Second to last leg of our tour today and we have arrived in Diest , Belgium. we stopped off at the ring for a bit of spectating and at our viewing point a BMW had spun, hit the kerb and blew a tyre, the man driving had phoned his wife who came round with a spare wheel which he changed and was off again. It has still been very hot but we were blessed with a lovely refreshing shower just before arrival at the hotel which we just drove through with roof still off to cool off. Thunderstorms now at the hotel so roofs on for tomorrow’s last leg to Zebrugge

  29. The plan today was to go to the ring, do a bit if spectator watching, then have a go. When we got up this morning it was just too hot boo hoo, 41 this aft 🥵 struggled to stay outside for any length of time without ducking into shops with aircon , couldn’t really walk in direct sunshine! Our cars were hitting temps of 100 yesterday normal driving never mind the ring, it’s a bit disappointing as it was on our bucket list , we will visit tomorrow for a butchers though on our way to our last hotel stop in Belgium. So here are some pictures of lovely Koblenz which is on the Rhine river.

  30. First MOT today and first pass. On Sunday, I ran as course opening car on the Maharajah's Tour (a 70mile scenic tour around Oxfordshire finishing at a great little car show in the village of Stoke Row. The rest of my photos from the day were cr*p. I relied on my mobile phone but the lens was dirty and, in the bright sunshine, I could not check the images well enough.
