I was at Silverstone yesterday in the Eleven. The usual chats with people about the car increased several times over due to the crowd being knowledgeable about historic racing cars and curious about the Westfield. I had one long conversation with an elderly gentleman who used to compete against Lotus Elevens in the 1950s. He had some lovely stories about BMC A series engines (in his case in an Austin Healey Sprite). Some Lotus Elise owners liked the low weight, low power philosophy - one having abandoned a recent Elise (with lots of Toyota bhp) and gone back to the original Rover K Series car for that very reason. There was a good turn out of our cars for a Friday. Let's see how this increases today (despite a lot of rain in the forecast) and Sunday (when it should be an altogether brighter and drier day). Back up there today - but in a car with a roof - my Renaultsport Clio V6. We're down for a track parade as well. Simon4 points

Second to last leg of our tour today and we have arrived in Diest , Belgium. we stopped off at the ring for a bit of spectating and at our viewing point a BMW had spun, hit the kerb and blew a tyre, the man driving had phoned his wife who came round with a spare wheel which he changed and was off again. It has still been very hot but we were blessed with a lovely refreshing shower just before arrival at the hotel which we just drove through with roof still off to cool off. Thunderstorms now at the hotel so roofs on for tomorrow’s last leg to Zebrugge2 points

Hi Guys/gals Just a quick hello really to introduce ourselves. Totally new to the Westfield/Kit Car world, having previously raced Mitsubishi Evo's in the main. Were looking to enter a Westy into Time Attack next year, so i would love to pick peoples brains for opinions, suggestions and reccomendations if thats ok. Weve been kindly invited by Westfield to visit the factory on August 10th to see how they are produced and sit down to discuss options etc so looking forward to that. Many Thanks in advamce1 point

Mark I have no problem with the 2 events on the same day as 3 Sisters is 4 hrs up the M6 and an overnight stay and evening meal (+£100) My only concern in such instances is that the SSOT promote both venues equally! We are the invited club at both and we need need there support when the SS are running our own event! G PS I have entered Hethel again this year but it is still a 5-30 am start even though it is nominally in the south although it feels like driving to Holland!1 point

Graham Its a fair point and one of things that’s discussed when setting the calendar. Date clashes are always a dilemma, however Hethel and three sisters are geographically so far apart we figured folk from the south wouldn’t make the journey north and vice versus for those in the north, so hopefully the clash will have little impact either way. As the aforesaid Quantum owner I can testify that Clan McWesty are a welcoming bunch. It's also much more enjoyable driving with a group than on your own. Plenty of banter and usually a good feed somewhere too. Bob1 point

@Eccie6816 It doesn't matter the car, it's for all WSCC members - the McWesty runs regularly have a Tiger and a Quantum joining in. Your profile says you're a trial member - if you are looking for a run/event to dip your toes in and see if we're an OK bunch, then come along, we don't bite (best not make eye contact with Big Brian though, especially before lunch) 😋 Out of interest, where is home and what's your 'other seven kit'?1 point

You were spotted at Rannoch station by a very good friend of mine, Maya, and her pal - she was on the big Harley (with sidecar), and Jo was on a Bonneville. They were on a rather wet bike camping holiday. They took pics of you there... Small world... Dave.1 point

Is this open to just Westies or can mere mortals in other seven series kit cars attend1 point

Just a point regarding the Photographer, Ian Dowding who covered the Shelsley 21st for us last year is there on Sunday, if people want Westfield pictures he will be happy to oblige and is a Loton regular so knows his way around. Craig1 point

You have a duty at all times to mitigate any loss suffered. Your insurance is the best place to start, they will repair the damage (mitigate your loss), and then use all their phenomenal power to recover the money from the tenant's insurer upstairs. This is good as you get your property fixed, quickly at little expense, you dont have the stress of dealing with any legal proceedings and it also reduces any bad feeling as people dont see it as such a "personal" attack.1 point
