  1. Evening all, Just came across this video and wanted to share. It's a brilliant overview of all the sorts of adjustments we have on our cars, how to use them, when to use them, and what does what. The guy is mainly into rallying but he discusses track use too and all the info crosses over. Enjoy! Adam

  2. Another wet day yesterday - so no trips out... I went to bed early feeling disgruntled... I fear that winter looms - typical depressive mind wandering. (Probably should have put this on the Mental Health Thread). Anyway - It dawned on me why you all do rebuilds etc on your cars during the winter... not only does it keep you informed of what's happening or might happen under the bonnet but most importantly (to me) it keeps you going through the winter when our little cars are generally off road. Of course in my musings I allowed my mind to wonder over the possibilities of stripping Binky down as soon as the weather is inclement. I feel sure this is possible, however... she would never get put back together again. A. I have no idea how to do it B. I have a short attention span C. I would get depressed at my lack of ability D. I would never be able to use her again. So, on reflection - I shall book a Euro ticket and head south in my motor home until I find blue skies; in the hopes of getting through a winter without depression, without sitting in my lounge staring into space for weeks on end. Yep, lucky me right? Being retired is enviable? Only if you use it well... My stream of consciousness is just Stuff and Nonsense . 🙋‍♀️

  3. Feeling more positive after a trip to the unexceptional festival at Claydon House. First time out with my brother and his newly completed 'Ferrari'. Like a couple of kids!!

  4. @W Shep @Terryathome and myself have just set off for a week touring around Europe , along with our better halves 😀we’ve got a few things planned so will keep you updated for your entertainment. We have had a gentle run to Hull today with 2 minutes left at check in due to Terry needing two fuel stops and even more ‘Vape’ stops , then me and Terry were directed to vehicle search , again !!! on the boat now signal nearly gone !

  5. Not long in the door. Was good to see you again Brian and to be able to go for a run this time. Thanks to all who came on the run. Hope we can do again soon. As Brian said this morning the weather was dreadful with me ending up totally soaked to the skin but as soon as I arrived to Aberfoyle blue sky’s opened. Great bacon rolls as per Bobs recommendation. It’s a butchers so the amount of bacon is ridiculous. I had two!!! Great roads and the weather has held even becoming sunny and warm in the afternoon. From soaking to getting the top of my head burnt all in the same day, the joys of the Scottish Summer. A great route was planned which took us over the dukes pass, out to lix toll, Killen and then onto Rannock station. Down one side of the Loch and after a nice lunch back down the other side of the Loch and onto Pitlochry for another fuel stop. From there Creif and Cromrie (I kept following the leader, even though I had to turn off here and say goodbye!!) and after being put right a solo run down the side of Loch Earn to Lochearnhead and back past Tynedrum, Glencoe and home to Spean Bridge. No clue how many miles but over 12 hours away so a fair few. I have as ever taken a few photos (my usual mediocre standard) which are all shown below. Meant to say the place for lunch was great with great cake and in homage to the Yorkshire crew (and to keep myself out of the doghouse for being away all day) I took some home as I couldn’t have ate another thing after the rolls and half a pig!!

  7. Fantastic run today! 349 miles in total. Really enjoyed it, even though I wimped out and took the RS4 instead of the Westfield 😉 but the weather this morning from my house to Aberfoyle was more suited to a powerboat 🤣 Great to meet some new people and also superb, as ever, to see all the different cars. Thanks guys! 👍

  8. The weather forecast is good so this is definitely on. I have booked a table at the pub and we can only get in at 2pm, so I have wiggled the route around a bit and we will go for coffee and cake in the plague village of Eyam first. The pub serve the usual menu (baguettes, fish, burgers, pie) and also offer a Sunday lunch for £10.95, the landlord is a petrol head and is looking forward to our arrival. The route is mainly B roads so it should be a good day.

  9. I was at the factory with the ASBO 2 weeks ago looking to replace my expansion / header tank that's weeping through a crack caused (I hope) by old age and the plastic going brittle, on arrival my left exhaust pipe was trying to escape due to a bolt coming adrift.... I already knew from a phone call that Westfield no longer supply the same tank, but what wasn't apparent to anyone until we tried to 'test fit' the replacement was that their new option won't fit the V8 Scuttle - it's too tall, so what follows is a nice tale of an abundance of help from everyone involved. The FINIS code was located and gifted to me, plus a new bolt located for my exhaust, the loan of spanners to fit said bolt was also no problem, thankyou to all at Westfield. I called Brooklyn Ford (now Bristol Street Motors) Spoke to a guy in parts, gave him the code and he opens with "oh that's an expansion tank, yeah, £86 plus the VAT", I'm gobsmacked and ask "have you got one, or two?"....... "Nope" says he..... I'm gutted, he says "I'll have a look in group and call you back" I'm not hopeful that I'll get the call but in less than 2 minutes the phone's ringing, he says "none in group or motorsport division sorry...... sooooo I'm going to put it on a system we've got to see if ANYONE has got one, they were discontinued a while ago you know ! If I haven't heard anything in 24 hours then chances are we won't find one for you". Once again the cynic in me is winning and I don't think I'll get a call...... not even 10 minutes later and he rings me and says "got one, it's in Salisbury, I'll send you an email with the details, you click the link on it, the username is your email add, the password is your reg number, you pay for it and they'll post it" Thankyou Brooklyn Ford Redditch (I think it was Graham) It's arrived, and for a total cost of £78 delivered with a note saying that it's possibly the last one in the country that any Ford dealer has, thankyou Foray Motor Group (and for the ~£30 Discount). Sooooo the old one once removed will be going to Radtec so they can blueprint a replacement, that will give other V8 owners some options that don't need new holes drilled ! It's only recently dawned on me that my SEiGHT is 20 years old, so bit's like this are going to get difficult to source as time goes by, but I've had a pleasant experience and had some great help with the Brooklyn Garage being the big surprise, they didn't make a penny but made me feel like a top priority, I'm going to take the man some beers! Oh and I've got some new seats and harnesses too...... I really should stay away from the Parts dept...... I bet a Fiver that if enough people read this I'll get a few offers of "I've got one of those in my Shed/Garage", If I'm wrong I'll put the fiver in the Air Ambulance Box ! Nem......

  10. You two deserve a medal for travelling the distance you did just to get to the start point. Thanks for making that effort. Thanks to Brian for acting as the anchor man all day in that awesome sound sounding Audi. Apologies that we lost you somewhere around Crieff/Comrie. I was sure you were with us as I could see the drls in my mirror but when we all bunched up in the town I realised it was a Mercedes and not your Audi. Hope it didn't spoil your day. We we had a few call offs from guys over in the East as the rain this morning was bad over there. Still, we had 6 cars which was a decent. I lead over Dukes Pass but it was still pretty wet so this was a relatively sedate pace. Heading through the tree covered roads to Kilmahog there were lots of large puddles. We headed for Killin and topped up with fuel and discussed whether to continue with the planned route. The skies said we should. Ben Lawers Dam was the next stop. Always a good photo op. Usually we continue on this road to Glen Lyon but I had gone over it last year and it was in really poor condition. This was confirmed by a passing 4x4 so we headed back to the main road and then turned off for Fortingall and over the Schiehallion road at a good pace on dry roads. Rannoch Station is at the end of about a 25 mile single track road which makes it sound like a nightmare road but it's not. It's a great run with some superb roads and scenery and a very nice cafe where we had lunch. Graeme (Scottish Westy) took the lead for the run back, this time along the other bank of Loch Rannoch and onto Loch Tummel. Mainly narrow or single track again but Graeme lead at a brisk pace and other cars in the main let us all pass. Pitlochry was our next fuel stop and route chat. We were only on the A9 for a couple of short stints before returning to the back roads. As we all came from different parts of the country, we split after Comrie. Graeme, Andy and I had a brilliant run back to the Glasgow area. With Graeme leading on roads he knows very well, this was quite spirited and really enjoyable with slower cars dispatched quite easily and all three cars staying in convoy. All in all, another great day out with nice guys and some good stories and banter. What more could we want, we even had sunshine. Thanks everyone.

  11. Definitely swept and if you do change for cycle wings you’ll have a line of holes in your side panels !!!!! Also swept are classically cool and stylish

  13. What an amazing turn out ! The Essex members had a real treat this month with the arrival of the sevens club and MK club,i arranged with the other clubs for a one off meet, and boy it was a good one,the pictures i'm told do not do the meeting justice, maybe a video next time, some members having the usual breakfast and others just wanting to talk cars and cross platform ideas, i was away in Devon with the family, but i look forward to the westfield on the beach meet at the end of the month, please taker some time to look at the fabulous machines at the meet, i am glad this meet went as well as it did, Bill Essex AO

  14. I just made one up yesterday, only a couple of quid of ally and some heat to bend it. Although I'll bet the Westfield parts shop will have some on the shelf.

  23. Swept of course. (And I seem to have managed to own one of each), but still prefer the swept. Just rebuilding the car at the moment into the first FW with swept wings, (probably the only one, too, I guess). (wings refitted this afternoon!)

  31. But they also lost a wicket in the super over where england didn't. But then again england lost more wickets in the 50 overs. There could have been a dozen ways to decide it half of which could have swung it to NZ. No doubt about it though lady luck was definitly shining on england. The caught ball that the fielder stood on the boundary to give us 6 then the over throws to the boundary to give us another 6 ( letter of law says should have been 5). The one thing that still stands out to me after watching the highlights again yesterday, is despite all the rotten luck is the class of the Kiwis in accepting defeat. I'm not sure other teams or england either would have been quite so gracious and sportsman like.
