  2. Please please do not take this as rude and no offence is meant... 18st and 5'7" You and I are almost the same age and definitely, that age where these things matter. Gone are the days of natural fitness, or being able to eat/drink it all without some sideways expansion have gone out the window. Now spending sunday afternoon doing something different like digging the garden has repercussions the next day, it didn't 10 years ago. You say active and unless it's a typo cycling 10km per week not active. I'm cycling currently over 175 miles a per week and even in the dark of winter ~100 miles, and pushing hard most the way.. I don't consider myself that fit or active as most of my working day I'm desk bound. I know fitness and being healthy is unlikelty to magically fix your episodes, but maybe make them easier and have some positive side effects If your power to weight ratio is better then everything will be easier even when tired. Fitter and better diet will help keep away the diabetes.. No proven that in the majority of cases can be reversed by self help. Exercise can boost your immune system Exercise you get a "feel good" and proven to be good for mental health as well. (although most think I am Mad to ware Spandex and Cycle for miles on a rock solid seat) Lower body mass and better foods takes load of many of your organs allowing more capacity to deal with other stuff.... Diet... well balanced and natural. And avoid so called healthy alternatives as more often than not it turns out they are not. Doctors look for drugs to fix the symptoms, but seldom are they addressing the reason. They can't cure the common cold, we take drugs to elevate the symptoms and just simply wait until our bodies have done the business. So be kind to your body and help it help you. Good luck and see you at Blyton

  3. Some good advice in the last two posts. I am hitting 40 in August and must say that i've noticed in the last couple of years you just dont bounce back from heavy manual work like I used to. I would say one of the biggest differences I noticed was giving up tea & coffee during the day for water. I am desk bound all day and I make sure I clear at least 2 litres of water during the day, if not more. Plus more water at home in the eve. Not relying on the caffeine boost and allowing my body to filter out all the crap, just like doing an oil change on the car, but on a daily basis makes such an enormous difference. I cannot remember the last time I fell ill, even in winter. Its a one small thing, so combined with others will certainly help. Like you say, there may be an underlying condition or allergy that flares up sporadically which is crap, but if you can help your body as best you can then you have a better chance of curing or managing flare ups. Also dont under-estimate the effect of stress on the body. A colleague became seriously ill due to stress, it massively affects your digestion system and in turn other organs, including your skin (your skin is your biggest organ). She was signed off and became diabetic as well, due to stress. A strict diet and exercise reversed the diabetes and she went self employed and is happier and healthier than ever. Hope you manage to make some progress soon

  4. I’m no expert but can categorically say if I was in your position I’d 100% focus on diet. As an Engineer I tend to treat things this like any engineering challenge, change the inputs/variables and log the response, to do this though you need to be determined and look at all variables (activity/sleep/work) so that the results are as noise-free as possible. its also important to A-B-A when you think you’ve found a result I.e prove you can turn the problem back on, then back off again. I’d start start with obvious stuff like dairy, wheat, meats, processed food etc. Of course keep water intake consistent and take note of as much as you can (energy levels, physical appearance, sleep pattern etc) good luck and sorry you’re in this position, must be really frustrating when the experts can’t diagnose you!

  6. There is a lot about what should be happening if Lyme is suggested on the link below, even if tests are negative they say don't rule it out. If you are not happy get a private GP visit or perhaps (prompt your GP to) get in touch with the Liverpool School of Tropical medicine - they took an immediate and very keen interest when my daughter had it. https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ng95/chapter/Recommendations

  18. For anyone entering Snowdonia from the 'Y Felinheli' bypass, from the Tesco Bangor roundabout, and then heading toward Beddgelert (A4085) Llyn Peninsula (A487) etc be aware that there is major roadworks with the construction of the new Caernarfon - Bontnewydd bypass, there are very long delays and stop starts of up to 12 mins in place plus a 30mph limit, lots of very heavy construction traffic and mud and dust. If your heading this way then I recommend you find an alternate route, for the A4085 head toward Llanberis from the A55 (one stop) and then head for Llanrug to the roundabout at Caeathro then pick up the A4085 from there if your heading for the Llyn Peninsuila or Portmadog then from the Caeathro roundabout carry straight on signposted Bontnewydd Pwllheli, you might save yourself a lot of time and a lot of waxing and polishing when you get home. On the upside they have made some remarkable archaeological finds, a Roman bath house, possible Bronze Age boat burial but on the downside they have cut down hectares of trees, many of them very old Sessile Oaks. I'll keep the group posted with progress Ken
