  2. Well, thanks again for all the ideas chaps It's given me a huge range to mull over and it's really opened my eyes to what's available, a lot of stuff I'd not even considered! There's a bit more to this than I've mentioned so far, but I've decided what to do... In short I'm hoping to be able to work back up through some of the cars in this thread in the future, but for now the divorce I'm having to deal with (and the fairly unsavoury circumstances surrounding it) means I'm unlikely to ever be in this position again. So I've decided to go balls out. You only live once and all that. Have some final arm-wrestling to do with the dealer on the finer details, but should be collecting this little fella next week all being well... I currently have an F430 Spider which I had planned to hang onto as an investment, but honestly I don't really enjoy driving it. The coolest thing about that car has been letting mates drive it, random strangers asking to take a look (and seeing how chuffed they are that the answer is always yes!), my mum getting really excited by the bl**** wonderful noise it makes - but it always felt a bit fragile and as an 'investment' I didn't want to drive it as much as it deserved. It would have ended up being sold as part of the divorce settlement anyway so seems pointless to hang onto it. So for now I might as well chop that in and go for something that's a bit more 'me' - nerdy rather than flamboyant, amazing engineering, slightly more understated and more usable from day to day. I test drove a 650S and it felt a bit too hardcore. Insanely fast but perhaps a bit too 'focused' for road driving. This seems like a nice balance. There are many horror stories about huge warranty bills and massive depreciation, but going into it with open eyes, a lump of cash in reserve just in case and a top warranty from Thorney Motorsport, I'm hoping I can just enjoy it and deal with any issues pragmatically should they arise!

  3. @Si.Dalziel kindly emailed his config (which I’d sent him). I then sent it to RT. we’re safely off the train and dropping suspension down back to normal height- they drive terrible with them wound up 😱

  12. Living in soggy Scotland, we use our full hood quite a lot and have got very slick at entering and exiting our respective seats. But if we try to do it when we’ve swapped seats, we look like baby giraffes exiting the womb!

  14. Just spoke to DHL and I’m collecting the parcel in Innsbruck at 10:00. It was originally on a end of Fri delivery to the hotel👏 So whilst the rest of the gang wind down their suspension, I’ll be collecting and fitting my Dash2

  15. Having visited Le Mans on two excelent road trips in 2017 & 2018, it feels rather strange being at home this year. Especially seeing posts on here and social media of others doing Le Mans 2019. On Tues 25th June, I depart from home with @Greenstreak-Andy D @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary & @westyjord87 joining me in the Peak District. We're crossing from Hull to Zeebrugge, driving to Dusseldorf and then taking the night train to Innsbruch. We've then got 3 days of Alp pass blatting planned, folowed by a drive home via the Porsche Museum in Stuggart and the Ring. We'll try to update as we travel, though can't guarantee the tale to be told as well as those on the recent Switzerland trip! Other than Dave's car still completing winter upgrades and Jordan's got no front discs, we're ready!

  19. Good until Sunday at least. We put up with a fair amount of moisture as well but when it’s like this there is nowhere better. Going to head over to Kyle tomorrow after work, pretty much the same road we did when you were doing your tour.

  21. I think you'll find that's the Anglicised version of the name. it's actually Hard'Yin's wall, build to keep out the hard'yins from the north - that being the McWesty clan with their hopped-up bullock carts!

  24. Before getting in, take your phone out of your pocket and keys or anything else you might need as one your in, forget it. Hang the seatbelts out both sides, over the tunnel and hanging out the side as once in getting hold of them is bl**** impossible and I always forget and think I look like a right whally trying to get the belts out from behind me. In, no problem, try to stand on the exposed chassis rail just in front of the seat, and then hands on tunnel and side, slide your backside down into the seat, then start fiddling around to get everything in place. Out, not so easy. Bring your knees up if you can to get your feet on the same rail for getting in. Belts hangin to either side and then I sort of "shimmy" up the back of the seat using my hands on the tunnel and side panel and pushing with your legs. Once your legs are about straight you should be able to maneuver a let out, followed by the other leg. I've yet to see a way of doing this by anybody that does not make you look a bit clumsy, let alone with a roof on. One thing I would get in your head is not to touch the steering wheel during either operation, and keep a check on the wheel as WF had a recall notice on the one I was supplied with, where basically the rivets holding the outer wheel to the inner failed and I ended up with it in my hands. (Mountney Classic Steering Wheel) https://westfield-sportscars.co.uk/downloads/mountney-steering-wheel-recall-notice.pdf Graceful is not a description you can use

  26. @IanK (Bagpuss) Were you able to send your config file to RT so they could load it for you. Im all for taking a few tools on a tour but never thought about a laptop before?! 🤔

  27. I stand on my seat and slip elegantly down... Well that's the intention. Same in reverse to get out holding on to sil and tunnel as per Nigel0. Of course getting in or out with the roof on is a whole different event, one that results in one limb being left out... Usually a leg Still working on that maneuver...

  29. My dad is selling his S2000. Had i had the spare cash, i would have bought it, and chucked it in a Westy. https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/honda/s2000/honda-s2000-16v-2002--white/9763550 Would also mean you would have 42k odd left from your 50k budget!
