  2. We’ve had a pleasant drive through Belgium, the Netherlands and into Germany. Rather warm now we’ve wound our spring perches up to give increased ground clearance ready to board the train in Düsseldorf

  6. This would work even better if it actually towed the trailer containing the generator !! Perhaps this is the future.

  7. I spoke too soon. Forgot about a previous arrangement. I am in Stirling war gaming with the wee man. Sorry to give back word.

  8. I always carry an umbrella and it is not just for the rain!! Coming back from Switzerland last year, we got stuck on the M25 due to an accident and we were sat in the direct sun for ages. I didn't want to put the half hood on so put up my umbrella and had some instant shade.

  9. Oh dear, it's horrible driving without a dash. Years ago a friend had an Astra with one of those "space age" dash displays which would sometime go blank. As a passenger, I would occasionally catch him peering into other cars on the motorway to find out how fast we were going... Do you have a sat nav which displays your speed? That would be something at least.

  11. I guess it rained a little? France is forecast for 40c this week, so it will all dry out

  12. First challenge. My Dash2 died in Doncaster due to moisture ingress. RT are shipping one to my hotel in Austria. I’ve stripped it apart and dried it in a bag of rice overnight . About to refit it as we dock

  13. Cracking idea! It is possible to make half hinged doors and use wind deflectors though. I cut the clear & top part out of some full side screens and used 2 sets of hinges from westfield to hinge the wind deflectors on the door hinges.

  15. They don’t need to be really but we’ve got what we asked for... massive heavy wheels so need lots of compression damping to control the undamped mass. Big engines, massive cog filled gearboxes so heavy easy to package struts rather than expensive multi linked suspension. Total lost of tyre compliance with mega low wide profiles and runflats. Motoring journalists slate cars for not having as stiff chassis, or being slower than the last model on the ring. Big power, loads of grip, massive brakes mean big forces so all the bushing is really stiff. Fat anti roll bars which help with roll but also take away the comfort and traction merits of independent suspension. Stiff “sports seats” Low ride heights meaning to compensate stiff suspension. Direct mounted racks for precise steering feel...... the list goes on...
