I did one about 5 summers ago also at Donnington just weeks after I'd bought my car. I'd certainly been very keen to do another although I'd be looking for more of a tuition session rather than jump-in, quick lap of the course, jump-out again experience I had. Just my own thoughts but if the instructers started with a sweeping curve of cones and encouraged us to improve our basic skills on that then perhaps the weaving slalom course may be a bit more achievable. I think a "members-only" day could accommodate a bit of tuition rather than my previous experience when the instructors had to deal with a mix of people most of whom (apart from me and Andy Lowe) had never even sat a Westfield previously.3 points

OK got the car back, no the best of journeys M25 and wet :-( . However have now had a few great runs out really pleased :-) Now for the silly question, where's the best place to post pictures? Or do I just attach them to the post?2 points

Hi everyone. I pick up my SEight on Saturday, second hand (2008) and I’m hoping it’s a good one🤞Oh and I hope it’s dry on Saturday! When I get it home, clean it and then what? apart from wiping the smile from my face? Obviously I checked all I could at the time of buying but what checks would members recommend in the first few weeks of ownership and what would you recommend to get to know a westie for the first time? l looked at kit cars 20 year ago but couldn’t really afford one. I’ve brought a completed car this time with a view to get to understand them better and if a really like it then perhaps build my own one in a few years time. Pointers appreciated.1 point

Driving our own car or one provided? Or just being chauffeured around? I wouldn't be interested in the latter, but the former... sure!1 point

Done two, a fair while ago. And would definitely be up for another, as would a mate of mine. Usual 'cost/location/date'' dependency!🤞1 point

If you need an extra instructor who knows Westfields I would be happy to assist (subject to availability / location / fee). Rescinded my instructor license these days but still do bits of work here and there to keep my hand in Did one of these days at Silverstone a few years back (and produced a promo video for you) and it was a really fun day.1 point

@Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary @CraigHew the reasoning behind the Westfield owners was to allow more of a tuition based session. I love the idea of having a course comprising which could incorporate all different corners.1 point

Have done a few drift days previously, when they were at Donnington. Absolutely loved them, and would like to do again. Subject to cost/location.1 point

Word of warning. The pub car park has a speed hump at the entrance that can ground a Westfield, so be careful going in. We'll probably leave by the coastal path @The Cheese.1 point

Depending on work, I might be able to join in on the Saturday run Did the Run to Portavadie a couple of weeks ago. Love that area. Bob1 point

I'll join you for the run on Saturday if that's ok. Just need to know what time for breakfast. Revised route looks much better by the way. If you're doing a cafe etc for meal on Saturday night in Tyndrum, suggest you get an idea of numbers now and book it. Matt1 point

Not owned either but a close mate has an 18 plate s3 from new. He loved it at first but now has buyer remorse. He describes it as hugely competent, does everything well but a bit 'numb' and devoid of character. He's said on more than one occasion he should have got the golf r and saved himself a load of money. Although the interior is much better on the s3. I suspect the extra 100bhp and 5 cylinder character of the rs3 may go someway to give it a bit extra 'something'. As you say test drives are in order. I have the same ea888 engine of the s3 in a leon cupra and brother in law has same in a golf r and both have been 100% reliable. His is running 360bhp and has done several track days in it although the clutch is now starting to slip.1 point

Hello and welcome. I bought a Seight a few years ago and they are total headturners. I would recommend enjoying it for this summer without doing anything unnecessary. You will find out what is needed if you use it. Give it a thorough service to make sure that you know what you have got. Change the oil. Then think about what fun you can have in the winter. Oh - photos please!!1 point
