HOME!!! Hoping for Binky to follow soon then I need someone to rebuild my engine... 🙄 Thank you to the guys who were my companions on the Switzerland tour particularly Gary and Geoffrey who worked so hard and so long. The driving was awesome, I will always remember the hairpins and chasing Geoffrey round the bends! I had disturbing bouts of ptsd particularly when my car was taken. I had to leave Brian's body in Scotland and bizarrely it felt exactly the same. A quick trip back on the euro star and lunch at the pub... What an adventure, I'm already planning my next one..5 points

Sounds like you've had a epic trip!! I am setting off tomorrow on a Faser Nash raid to the Alps, I am co driving and doing a bit of the driving, (it's only fair on the driver!) we are in a 1933 Fraser Nash T.T Replica. Our route is Huddersfield to Hull and catch tomorrow nights ferry to Rotterdam. Friday we drive to Dusseldorf where we catch the overnight car sleeper train to Innsbruck where we meet c 80 other Fraser Nash''s on Saturday. Sunday over the Brenner Pass and lunch with the Mayor in Vipiteneo and then on to Bolzano (Italian Dolomite's) where we are based for week. A few highlights include a regulatary hillclimb on Tuesday up Mont De Pana, Wednesday we do the Stelvio Pass and the Passa Di Gavia on the way back going through Bormio having gone in and out of Switzerland, in the evening a safari bar quiz. Early start on Thrusday, we plan to attempt Passo Sella, Passo Pordoi, Passo Fedaia, Passo Valporola, fuel in Cortina, Passo Giau, Passo Staulanza, Passo Duran, Passo Pellegrino, Passo Costalunga and finally Passo Nigra - 164 miles in total! Friday evening, driving tests, Saturday outdoor karting followed by a Gala dinner, then head home on Sunday.5 points

Thanks Andy. We are running the drift like at Stoneleigh and have our awning and a single car display. Have no idea the size of the event so we are going small to start with and lets hope its a good show as a new event is definitely welcome. Patrick will also be there and he is more than happy to take parts orders at the event should anybody feel the urge.....4 points

With regards to the requirement for a V5 document for an MOT emissions test. This not a new requirement as it has been in place at least 10 years, I believe it was shortly after the introduction of SVA/IVA in 1998 when emissions limits were tested before a pass could be achieved. Those limits should then have been added to the V5 when it was produced by DVLA, however, this did not always happen! Its introduction and relevancy was from 2001 as this would have been the first MOT for registrations from 1998. Kit car emissions test: A 'Q' plate car is treated as pre 1975 for emissions purposes, so any limits on the V5 are not relevant and production of the V5 is not required for this purpose. A kit car on an age related or private plate, registered from 1998 onwards requires an emissions test and the test process is that the limits on the V5 are used for the test. This means that an MOT tester must see the V5 before carrying out the test. Unsurprisingly, not all testers follow the correct procedures! If there are no limits on the V5 then an emissions test is carried out using default limits based on the registration age of the kit car OR the age of the engine fitted at SVA/IVA if it is older. The burden of proof of the engine age is on the presenter of the vehicle and a tester can accept any reliable evidence provided. A tester may refuse to test a vehicle when the appropriate information is not provided by the presenter, V5 or otherwise. NB. The MOT testing service does not contain any emissions data for individual vehicles. General emissions data is available for all UK registered production vehicles via DVSA website and the MOT testing exhaust gas analyser. The current data set does not include any Westfields but it does include Caterhams! Kit car VIN inspection: The VIN on the vehicle should be inspected and recorded for entry to and checking on the MOT testing service but there is no requirement to check it against a V5 document. Some vehicles may not require a VIN or chassis number due age and that could be applied any 'Q' plated kit car as it is treated as registered before 1971. Finally, the V5 may need to be produced for any vehicle that does not carry a relevant registration age VRM, eg. anything on a cherished number plate!2 points

Anglesey trackday with Opentrack Mon 19th Aug. Coastal and GP circuits, 105db, open pitlane. https://www.opentrack.co.uk/product/anglesey-coastal-gp-circuit-monday-19th-august-2019/ I've just booked on using the Wscc discount code acquired by @MrPoseidon to be found in the members only area. Pals @Michael Whitworth, SteveH and Stoney should be joining me for our annual camp over. Anglesey's a cracking circuit, It would be nice to get a few more Westys there. The weather can be a bit tricky but I'll do my best to get us some sunshine. Anyone else?1 point

@Matt_S I didn't have any covers with my kit, and had no problem at IVA. I just put a bit of edging on the inner vertical edge. Don't recollect seeing any covers on recent builds on the forum either. Sure you've got it covered, but I'm close to you (near Bridgwater) if you want to compare anything. Apologies for poor photo. Hope this helps.1 point
