The climb to the bridge took us up to 6807 feet and yes it was hard going and emotional as I had a special reason to climb a mountain, many years ago my mum and dad toured Switzerland by coach , my dad said he would come back and climb a mountain , alas this would never happen as he was diagnosed with copd and his climb would always be a dream until he passed away, So with my dads camera we climbed that hill and I know he walked with us we all have our reasons and motives that drive us on and this moment was for dad6 points

This was my most emotional bit of the trip. All my life I have wanted to climb up a mountain / big hill but never had anyone willing to do it with me and never seem to have the motivation to do it on my own. When this opportunity came up I knew I had to do it. I am fat and the weather was so very hot and I know that without Gary's help I would have really struggled more than I did. I felt and still am so proud of myself for completing the climb. I got to the top and became a bit emotional and the same at the bottom so thank you Gary for sharing my moment with me. Our goal was the awesome 1621 feet long, newly opened Charles Kuonen Suspension Bridge in Switzerland. This has broken the record for the world's longest pedestrian suspension bridge. The bridge offers hikers views of the Matterhorn, Weisshorn and Bernese Alps. We where given a police escort through the town to guide us to a parking place, and we where allowed to park in the police station carpark. The police and Paul Summermatter gave us such a brilliant and friendly welcome to their town. As we climbed heard avalanches, avalanche charges been set off, cuckoos and all sorts of birdlife. We also saw deer and a Chamois antelope on the snow. We passed a shrine to Saint Bartholemewe who is the Patron saint of Travellers half way up the mountain. One couple lost a dog and we don't know if they got it back but you could hear them calling for ages. When we arrived back at the start we where given such great hospitality in the cafe and we wish to thank Paul Summermatter for his great hospitality. Anyway I could write for ages about this most memorable, moving and fantastic time but instead here are a few pictures.6 points

Thank you @David-hrv. It's just another adventure! Will get a taxi to the garage to check out the car then a train to Paris. Spend the evening there with friends and come home tomorrow... Well that's the plan as I type.. Things can always be subject to change!6 points

Here is a video I put together of our trip to the Rhine Falls. The sound and power of the water does not come across in the video. There is an island in the middle of the falls, and the boats you see in the video, drop people off at the island so they can climb to the top of the high level viewing platform.5 points

There are some amazing things that you see when travelling. The paraglider are fantastic and we have seen dozens of them. I was amazed at how high they go. They spin and spin and the views must be breathtaking. The little advertising signs are so creative. Here is a lizard up a chimney. I never even imagined I would see a man in a kilt in Switzerland.5 points

The issue of CATs is being brought up again at a meeting with Motorsport UK and we have submitted a letter requesting the withdrawal of the Rule.Let's see what happens.5 points

We had a ride in the cable cars up to the Aletsch Glacier. You go up three separate chairlift stations to reach the top and the views are absolutely breathtaking. The Aletsch Glacier is the largest glacier in the Alps. It has a length of about 14 miles and covers about 31.5 square miles in the eastern Bernese Alps in the Swiss canton of Valais. The Aletsch Glacier is composed of four smaller glaciers converging at Concordia Place, where its thickness was measured by the ETH to be still near 3,300 ft. It then continues towards the Rhรดne valley before giving birth to the Massa. The Aletsch Glacier is โ like most glaciers on this world โ a retreating glacier. As of 2016, since 1980 it lost 0.81 miles of its length, since 1870 it last around 2.0 miles. It has also lost more than 300 metres (980 ft) of its thickness. I have more photos I would like to share of this place will will upload them on my return to the UK. Here are a few pictures but will add to this later.4 points

We stopped at the Thiepval Memorial to the Missing of the Somme. This is a war memorial to 72,337] missing British and South African servicemen who died in the Battles of the Somme of the First World War, between 1915 and 1918, with no known grave. It is near the village of Thiepval, Picardy in France. Thiepval has been described as "the greatest executed British work of monumental architecture of the twentieth century". The marked graves are split into two sections, "Unknown" and " A great Soldier"4 points

As we travelled through France, I was amazed at the amount of war grave cemeteries there are. Various other memorials that we passed have various large gun shells surrounding them. This is small one that we visited and what was unusual was the two German graves. These where identified by the point to the headstone.4 points

Eventually I demanded to speak to the supervisor. She said they had not been able to find one... Either not answering the phone or didn't have a car. However the Renault garage where the guy called this hotel and bought me here gave me a contact number for one. I have decided to get a train to Paris and return on the train.4 points

We stayed in the most beautiful gites. The river flowed right beneath the house and we had the sound of the weir in our rooms all night. The owner was absolutely fantastic and he even said "Oh Lala" at the sight of our cars. We had some really banter with his " Monsieur Carter" and my "Hello" There was a French cartoon on the TV and it was quiet interesting to say the least. It is on Youtube if you wish to watch it. We have stayed in some beautiful hotels but these sites really do take some beating as you are basically living in someones home and there is a great atmosphere.3 points

I used to drive to and from also, breakdown cover saved me when I was spectating at Silverstone during a trackday and my gearbox randomly broke in the car park. Also just as I was passing the entrance to Cadwell Park I hit a really really big pot hole and broke my steering rack.3 points

So onwards and upwards here we are on day 12 heading northwards to Emance We started with a leisurely breakfast and packing the cars as today was to be a gentle run up, so saying auvoir to Catherine and Eves we headed up the road 15 miles to meet up with everyone, stopping at a supermarket petrol station Judeโs car was again overheating and pouring water out, removing the thermostat cap revealed a lack of water despite the header tank being full, So once again topped up , the water was draining away and the oil level getting higher . this coupled with the blue smoke from the rocker breather and exhaust, showed the head gasket had probably gone and the engine needed a rebuild. So being in a safe and public place with very helpful staff who even charged her phone for her So 2 hours later and with the recovery and hire car instigated. She insisted that we carry on as we had a long drive today, so knowing all was sorted and she was safe we headed off Driving through some stunning countryside in 32c temps saw us have a few stops to rehydrate. Time pressing on we stopped to phone our hotel as reception as with the late start we were in danger of arriving late and having no accommodation, after explaining the situation the manager kindly said we could arrive up to 8pm but not after. So directions re routed we had to jump on the motorways to get here in time Almost here we could see the rain and lightning ahead and yes we drove right into it and then out into bright sunshine So a day of mixed fortunes and 235 miles3 points

We didnt have any spare room. I had Trina in with me and all mine, Garys and Trina luggage was all in Garys car. if we had the available room then we would have done that. The best and sensible option in this case was recovery and the hire car.2 points

Today we lost one of the crew @Jude - The Mad Widow When "Binky" let it's cylinder head gasket go if we've all guessed right and Binky needs the flat bed truck home. I must say that Gail and I hold the upmost respect to Jude for just throwing all caution to the wind and coming on such a big adventure on her own with us. It won't feel quite right returning to the UK with out everyone that started this epic adventure. ๐2 points

Day 11 of our adventure saw 185 miles taking us through some beautiful mountains and hills travelling to the south of Geneva and then up to le Bourg in France a nice gentle drive stopping off at the most wonderful patisserie/ cafe where the selection of cakes was overwhelming, as we travelled through the french back roads the countryside changed in charaoto rolling hills and quaint traditonal villages before arriving at our accommodation for the night2 points

After I complained strongly to my insurers I am now awaiting a taxi to the station and a tvg to Paris... If it goes smoothly I promise myself an overnight stay and a glass of champagne!! Not a bad place to wait... Although I just trashed my arm on a sharp corner of the bar... Another larger will kill the pain me thinks...1 point

Davids screaming ZX12 powered Bec and Graeme's red top Westy. All very powerful but completely different noises (good noises). Nice Pizza at Portavadie too๐๐ Bob1 point

Not been started for at least 7 years (I think) and itโs now running! I am so pleased ๐ Changed the oil, coolant and drained the old fuel out. Oil looked a bit second hand and the old fuel was brown ! Flushed the fuel tank and fuel lines through with some fresh fuel cranked it with the fuel pipe off, reconnected them, it turned over about three times and fired ๐ Tomorrows job is get the brakes working again and find reverse as I canโt remember where it is ๐คฃ all forward gears are selectable though.1 point
