So onwards and upwards here we are on day 12 heading northwards to Emance We started with a leisurely breakfast and packing the cars as today was to be a gentle run up, so saying auvoir to Catherine and Eves we headed up the road 15 miles to meet up with everyone, stopping at a supermarket petrol station Jude’s car was again overheating and pouring water out, removing the thermostat cap revealed a lack of water despite the header tank being full, So once again topped up , the water was draining away and the oil level getting higher . this coupled with the blue smoke from the rocker breather and exhaust, showed the head gasket had probably gone and the engine needed a rebuild. So being in a safe and public place with very helpful staff who even charged her phone for her So 2 hours later and with the recovery and hire car instigated. She insisted that we carry on as we had a long drive today, so knowing all was sorted and she was safe we headed off Driving through some stunning countryside in 32c temps saw us have a few stops to rehydrate. Time pressing on we stopped to phone our hotel as reception as with the late start we were in danger of arriving late and having no accommodation, after explaining the situation the manager kindly said we could arrive up to 8pm but not after. So directions re routed we had to jump on the motorways to get here in time Almost here we could see the rain and lightning ahead and yes we drove right into it and then out into bright sunshine So a day of mixed fortunes and 235 miles5 points

Today we lost one of the crew @Jude - The Mad Widow When "Binky" let it's cylinder head gasket go if we've all guessed right and Binky needs the flat bed truck home. I must say that Gail and I hold the upmost respect to Jude for just throwing all caution to the wind and coming on such a big adventure on her own with us. It won't feel quite right returning to the UK with out everyone that started this epic adventure. 😐4 points

Firstly a big thank you to those of you who have come forward to give forum moderation a go, it's going to be such a help having additional eyes and background help and I think will keep things on topic, in the right place and clean and tidy for all in a more efficient and effective manner. Having said that, it's all new to some folks (even I'm still learning) but as we now have clarified guidance and constitution, it is clearer where lines must not be crossed and who can post where and about what - all of this is of course to keep things relevant and protect the Club. You will see an increase in moderation and it make take a little time to get it right, we will still never moderate for the sake of it and we still have our moderation guidelines, process and rules to be followed at all times. So, bear with us whilst we bed this in and thanks in advance for your patience and understanding.3 points

Downgrading my entire braking system so that I can have squeal free stopping and a properly working handbrake, I also put a new fuel tank, battery and electronic indicator gizmo on the ASBO..... Tomorrow I shall be replacing the windscreen and wiper blades, then maybe getting as P'sst as a Squirrel to celebrate the arrival of my first grandchild. That is all !! Nem......1 point

Jezz. I understand that the announcement you refer to was only made on Sunday and was done by the Clerk of the Course! and not agreed with the organisers. Also the results for Timed Run 3 were issued by TSL. (If it was a Fun run then that would not have happened). As far as I know all the Westfields did T3 so it looks fair to me in view of our own Regs where we always count all Runs that are offered and completed by our classes.1 point

Charlotte. Thanks for your feedback. I have spoken to Brian Parsons of BARC Wales who has admitted that they got thinks wrong and that the Clerk of the Course caused confusion particularly on Sunday when T3 was announced as counting for the awards and 5 skins later this was revoked. In my opinion the T3 runs were not just fun runs as they were officially recorded by TSL as TIMED RUN 3 and that is why I have used them. I knew that the results would create some questions but this was not of our making and our Regulations about all runs counting is clear. I do not believe it is up to organisers to suggest that the T3 run would not count and indeed Brian told me he considered that clubs would use T3 for their championships if the Regs allowed it. This is particularly important at events where we only have 1 practice rather than 2 as it would meant that drivers only get 3 competitive timed runs rather than 4 and that reduces value for money.1 point

If members don’t recognise the address, the pub/hotel is also known as the Thomas Kemble, Runwell. Only one mile from the Our usual meets at The Lodge.1 point

Seconded, many thanks to Kevin for his sterling service over the last few years, and a warm welcome to Bill as our new Essex AO. Sadly I won't be able to make this month's meeting as I'm away on holiday, but I look forward to next month's at our new venue. May possibly even see you before if we have any other runs out. Cheers, Ken1 point

I recently put up a post 'Duratec Overheating' Had great response from persons within the club to help resolve the situation. Many posts were put up including detailed pictures to make it easier for people like me !! Without this I'm sure a costly visit to the local garage would of been had. Instead I learnt a lot more about my car and resolved the issue. The cost of membership seems very small when expert advice is freely available Once again, many thanks. Regards Richard1 point

Enjoying following your tour, please keep the updates coming. Believe you're heading to Versailles soon? Whilst the palace is interesting (once you get used to the throng photographing and taking "selfies" everywhere!), the gardens and estate (free to enter, small charge for the Trianon estate, from memory) are something else. Lots of peaceful walking, you can soon leave the sightseers behind, most seemed to ignore the estate when we were there last June!. You probably knew this already, but just in case! Hope this helps. Enjoy the rest of your trip.1 point

Day 11 of our adventure saw 185 miles taking us through some beautiful mountains and hills travelling to the south of Geneva and then up to le Bourg in France a nice gentle drive stopping off at the most wonderful patisserie/ cafe where the selection of cakes was overwhelming, as we travelled through the french back roads the countryside changed in charaoto rolling hills and quaint traditonal villages before arriving at our accommodation for the night1 point
