  4. Good Advanced Driving there Ian. It was his 'I will run over your car attitude' that amazed me the most. Anyway, good to hear Dave's car is coming along and here are some photo's from a member of the Burton Car Club that was in Matlock Bath

  5. It's no chore to work on Dave's great car with Dave. Unlike @Stu Faulkner the serial builder, I get my build fix by either re-building mine (I can change a radiator in F1 Pit Team times now!) or by helping Dave with his great project. It's an honour and privilege to help Dave and becoming more and more familiar with all the great tools he's got well stored in his garage, it's become a lot more obvious how he earned the name 'Gadgetman' 😎 There's still a lot to do, however a lot has been done too. We need to get @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary car out into the peaks soon for shakedown runs, before our road trip to Austria at the end of this month.

  7. Firstly, a special thank you to @syman84 for inviting us to Michelle's 40th birthday last night, it was a great party and the live band were fantastic. The last time we met Michelle's dad we were at The Strines, it was freezing and he was in a turquoise Robin Hood, about 4 years ago, so it was nice to catch up with him too. I only wanted to go 5 miles for some breakfast, how difficult can it be? read on. We met at Ashbourne for a quick gather together before heading North to Tissington (or not as the case may be). We had a spare moment so we did the panorama dance red cars ruled today, Chris and Mo arrived Martyn and Sue arrived as well as Andrew, Trevor and Kirsty, Andy and Ann, Matt, Richard, Stephen, Andy and Sue, John and Jacky we nicely set off on our short and unremarkable trip through Ashbourne I indicated right to turn into Tissington, but no, no, no, the road was closed due to the well dressing being on. Parking was in an adjacent field - in a Westfield? I don't think so, plus imagine the crowds, no, no. We continued, which was actually the route I had planned for later, so Glen and I racked our brains for somewhere suitable to take 10 cars, we carried on the route and STOP STOP STOP we met this fine fellow An irate farm contractor, who met 2 of his work mates coming in the opposite direction in equally large vehicles. The road sign states 'unsuitable for long or wide vehicles' he had no brake/reverse lights, no tread on his tyres and the number plate is half hidden, and then he had the audacity to get out of his vehicle and tell us to back up, but only after he had aggressively reversed and braked hard towards me. I had nowhere to go obviously and had to sit there and gulp. Long one short, Glen got out and told him what an unpleasant man he is, I had kittens and we all turned around and went on a different road. Phew. We decided to divert to Wetton but unknown to me (I had just given birth to kittens! cut me some slack) Richard had started to overheat and Trevor stayed with him. Richard appeared later and Trevor and Kirsty ended up at Hulme End ????? Wetton After being suitably refreshed and back on track we set off around the lanes of Dove Dale To arrive at Willersley Castle, and what a beautiful setting to take our beautiful cars. The view over the river Derwent from the Castle After lunch we risked a drive through Matlock Bath and it paid off because the traffic was flowing well and the road was lined with motorbikes and tourists, pose time! With the warm weather we decided an ice cream farm was required and went to Matlock Meadows, engage panorama mode again the bonnets came off and the ice cream was consumed, the conversion flowed making a lovely end to a rather challenging start Richard 2 cakes, and he even bothered to pay for them this time Mazda, Zetec, V8 and Honda take your pic Thank you to everyone for coming along today, hopefully you have enjoyed it as much as us, you are fun lot and make us laugh so much xxxx

  8. Yesterday was so awesome I fell asleep early. The hairpin bends gave such an adrenalin rush and I found I went miles and miles with the biggest grin. My phone died so not many photos... Just one with a heart in the sky... Could have been Brian?

  11. I've got the exhaust off, waiting for new gaskets to arrive. If they arrive in time and get I chance to fit the exhaust this week, I will be in the Westy. Fingers crossed.

  12. When I was asked this I replied “well it’s a kit car so there’s no such thing as ‘standard’ so it’s impossible to say if it’s modified as there’s no baseline”. In reply they said that they were aware that pretty much every kit has to be modified in one way or another but suggested things like after market turbos (or other performance upgrades) and cages would be something they’d consider as not the norm.

  13. Weather was holding and with rain forecast for the next week and a half decided to get myself out. Spean Bridge to Banavie back road to avoid the World Mountain biking and turn right on the road to Mallaig. After Glenfinnan take the turning off to Lochalaine all the way to Strontian and back around by the Corran ferry through Fort William and home. Some great views but as ever when the road is great you never stop so piccys not as good as they should be!!

  14. Yes you read that right, a Mk 2 Escort is sat in the GBS workshop having it's 2.5litre Duratec engine fitted and you will be able to view it. It will be a brand new registered road car on current registration plates. Just like your Westfield you can buy this car as a kit or as a completed build. What other excuse do you need to come along, free coffee and cake? well that is provided too. Meet us at McDonalds, Ollerton, NG22 9DT at 9.30am or just make your way to GBS, NG22 9ZD anytime after 10am.

  17. @Ali and Gail the only thing better than cake is cake at 10 000 feet. Everyone should go to Switzerland, we were last there 9 years ago, before the Westfield arrived and I had long hair then too. I will be 50 in 2 years and Glen officially retires in 2 years so we will be celebrating with a trip to Grindlewald, we are saving up already. We are looking at your pictures and absolutely loving them Have a great time and be careful.

  24. It's not worth messing with them, you'll end up worse off! I dropped Lauren and her friends off at Alton Towers yesterday morning before heading to Dave's. On route to Dave's I caught up with a tractor (no trailer) and the road and view was looking okay for an overtake. The tractor driver did turn round and gave me a good stare, I then expected him to wave me past! I could see a farm enterance on the right just in front of him, so I held back. Good job I did, as he turned right without hand signals or indicators - and he knew I was behind him! Yes, it cost me a few seconds, but much better than being hit and dealing with all the paperwork etc.

  26. My Floyd gig was the “Animals” tour in ‘77 - they played Animals and Wish You Were Here, so I was obviously very happy. The set was pretty amazing with massive puppets and a huge inflatable pig flying over the arena (Wembley I think)
