Day 6 of our adventure where do I begin Making a workaround to make sure folk had waypoints for the day as the socket and satnav power lead weren’t talking we headed off to the Rhine falls, what a stunning and breathtaking place. From here we headed towards Austria and used some tracks literally !!! To go over some mountain tops in the mist we then pressed on to Lantern where we went up a pass to where the snow was and back down as now time was getting on it was decided to head for Guarda but in a village we all became separated and the agreed “get to the hotel “ was implemented. So punched in quickest route and set off, as we passed a service area I spotted Ali and Gail along with Jim and Laura, so at least we were taking the same “quick “ route. Pulling off at Davos it said the Fluella pass was closed. Oops so pressed on south the Abula pass closed so carried on south through a pass and then over the Juliapasse, WOW, to say it was stunning is an understatement so climbing up the pass saw a remarkable amount of fuel and fun used despite the rain which turned to snow flakes, the higher we went, blasting up the hairpins in second and third with the odd grab of fourth, arms like popeye soon 🙂 Then over the top to saint moritz and up to Guarda , tunnels and passes in the dark made an altogether different experience mmmmmm 270 miles of ADVENTURE7 points

Today only 80 miles to visit Gunter Sommer at high glen distillery in saints Maria Val Mustair Over the ofenpasse in glorious weather to the distillery where we were royally treated and Gunters hospitality knows no bounds we were treated to a tour of the distillery, museum and the smallest whisky bar on earth We were fed and watered and treated like family we then went up the umbrail pass to the snow gate and view point before heading home A wonderful day out relaxed and destressed Unfortunately the meal tonight was really bad and the service left a lot to be desired, strange as everybody else has been so wonderful4 points

Meet at Halfords, Ashbourne, DE6 1DU at 10.00 am that is 10am, HALF HOUR EARLIER THAN NORMAL for a quick gather together. The reason being is that I am taking you 5 miles North to a place that is so beautiful it is always busy, aha but not first thing in the morning! You can have a brew and a chat there, they also serve bacon butties/breakfast if you are hungry. As the tourist crowds arrive we will be leaving. After that it will be a wap around the beautiful lanes of the Dove Dale area before our second attempt at taking lunch in Willersley Castle (the four way temporary traffic lights that prevented us previously have now gone). I believe the forecast for Saturday is hot sunshine so who is joining us at 10am, did I say 10am? I thought I did, 10am.3 points

What a brilliant day. We went to a friend of Garys who has a small Whisky distillery on his home. He also owns a brilliant pub and a fabulous museum. Gunter made us feel so welcome and he even made us all lunch. Gary signed a lot of whiskey barrels that he had made years ago and I felt really proud for him. We then had a blast into the mountains and myself and Dave headed into Italy. It was absolutely brilliant and we just went exploring without satnavs for a few hours. Anyway here are a few pictures.3 points

I've been asked for the v5 at both my recent Westfield MOT tests, both times by a newly trained tester new to my regular MOT garage, with the Q plate car i was told it was to cross reference against the VIN plate to make sure the correct vehicle was being presented for test, he also tried to check the stamped chassis number, but on the "kit" chassis it is buried on top of the front chassis rail as good as under the radiator, so he accepted the matching records on the v5 and VIN plate. Visual smoke only for the emissions on this Q plate. No reason was given for the 55 plate car, but he did check the VIN plate and the stamping on the chassis. The emissions for this car are stated on the v5 and on the MOT computer records for the car. I've tried to find the regulations online. I've found this, but I don't think it states checking about v5/VIN/chassis consistency: https://www.motester.co.uk/mot-test-of-registration-plates-and-vehicle-identification-number-vin/ Perhaps one of the MOT testers who use the forum will be able to shed some light for us. Car now back home after new crank and rebuild - crank seal decided to fail or wasn't fitted properly so had to go back for that to be sorted - now just waiting for me to get it run in and then rolling roaded. Then back in for some track action 😎2 points

Popped over to the Port Solent Car Meet in Portsmouth this morning, chatting to the Tiger and Caterham owner - Caterham at 40miles on the clock since IVA. Its a 420R model and the owner Martin let me have a sit in it, much bigger than I thought it would be, and just lovely inside and out, but also £42k!!2 points

Just been for the annual MOT for my car and was told by the garage that I should have my V5 so they can check what the emissions test is for the car. I didn't know I was required to have that with me ! Thankfully the garage knows the car from previous years and knew what test to do They only realised when checking the latest data for the test. So anybody heading for your kits MOT make sure you have the V5 with you...just in case. Thankfully the only issue I had was it had only done 370 more miles than last year !!!!1 point

Hello all Just a quick introduction, I’m Richard from Worcester and I’ve just bought a 2 owner 1994 SE. I’ve always fancied a 7 since my first trip to Le Mans in 1997 when I saw Westfields and Caterhams hooning about everywhere 😎 This car came up local to me last week so the purchase was made and I’ve spent the last few days fettling and checking bolts and giving it a deep clean and a quick pass with cutting polish and the DA to try and get some life back into the bodywork. Removed the wet weather gear today as I very much doubt I’ll be heading out purposely in the rain and I’ve read it’s poor anyway, Ordered new tyres as whoever put the Team Dynamics on chose a mix n match of truly dreadful rubber!! Future plans include a new wheel and removable boss, but it’s a minefield knowing what column I have or wheel to get. Some new seats as I’m 185cm and 97kg powerlifter so it’s rather cosy inside. I think I need to be lower to the floor so GRP shell type seats may be the answer Have a crack at some autotests and classic tours, a couple of trackdays and maybe a sprint/hill climb with a change of rollbar Get away for some minimalist camping with either the nipper or the missus Thanks for having me Rich1 point

When you post mate, there is a paper clip icon at the bottom of the window you are typing in saying click to choose files... When you click on this, you will be able to select any pictures off your iPad or take a picture. HTH? Mart. Great car by the way from a fellow narrow owner!1 point

Some newer Q plate cars now have the emmisions target printed on them, but I thought the MOT system computer would tell the tester what the target emissions are when he enters registration number surely?1 point

I'm up that way - on Sunday, though. Taking part in the Historic Rally Car Register's Derbyshire Dales Drive, starting and finishing at the Buxton Pavilion. Not in the XI - a 400 mile day out for me demands something comfier! Enjoy your run. Simon1 point

Damn -- Saturday again..... That said, even if it was Sunday, I think my "permit of absence" would be revoked, as the bathroom refit is still going on and needs my attention Sounds like Julie has something new up her sleeve - hope it turns out well1 point

Not one MP at Westminster can be believed or trusted. Not a one. Crooks, liars and thieves, every one of them. The whole thing has been a supreme waste of time. Bojo is a reprehensible human being on every front, but not one of them can deliver Brexit in any form. May was undone by a bunch of well-dressed self-serving power hungry berks who weren’t prepared to negotiate to get the best deal and only have their own benefit in mind and couldn’t care less about the public. Worst joke ever. Monty Python said it best (apologies for the caps): WE WOULD LIKE TO APOLOGIZE FOR THE WAY IN WHICH POLITICIANS ARE REPRESENTED IN THIS PROGRAMME. IT WAS NEVER OUR INTENTION TO IMPLY THAT POLITICIANS ARE WEAK-KNEED, POLITICAL TIME-SERVERS WHO ARE CONCERNED MORE WITH THEIR PERSONAL VENDETTAS AND PRIVATE POWER STRUGGLES THAN THE PROBLEMS OF GOVERNMENT, NOR TO SUGGEST AT ANY POINT THAT THEY SACRIFICE THEIR CREDIBILITY BY DENYING FREE DEBATE ON VITAL MATTERS IN THE MISTAKEN IMPRESSION THAT PARTY UNITY COMES BEFORE THE WELL-BEING OF THE PEOPLE THEY SUPPOSEDLY REPRESENT NOR TO IMPLY AT ANY STAGE THAT THEY ARE SQUABBLING LITTLE TOADIES WITHOUT AN OUNCE OF CONCERN FOR THE VITAL SOCIAL PROBLEMS OF TODAY. NOR INDEED DO WE INTEND THAT VIEWERS SHOULD CONSIDER THEM AS CRABBY ULCEROUS LITTLE SELF-SEEKING VERMIN WITH FURRY LEGS AND AN EXCESSIVE ADDICTION TO ALCOHOL AND CERTAIN EXPLICIT SEXUAL PRACTICES WHICH SOME PEOPLE MIGHT FIND OFFENSIVE. WE ARE SORRY IF THIS IMPRESSION HAS COME ACROSS.1 point

That's good news. Are you the first of the broken duratec club to get back up and running? I know Archiepant's story, what about @Cleggy the Spyder Man or @Howsafe Workwear and Safety Equipment ?1 point

Grabbed a shot of the new carbon scuttle and pedal box cover - note the nice neat battery wiring - previously, there were about five earth leads flailing around, but I've joined them all behind the scuttle, so there's only a single beefy earth cable to the battery for the chassis harness. I also tweaked the fuseboxes, so that they were both fore-aft, as having them at right-angles to each other offended my OCD....1 point
