Last year I had Buttercup rebuilt by Luke at Playskool. I am extremely happy with the work Luke carried but the work was all hidden below the bodywork. I felt that the body was letting the car down a little as there where various marks and scuffs from her 19 years. I did discuss with Luke about having a new body but I decided this option wasn't for me. I also thought about wrapping but again decided against it. I saw a car that had been painted by Aaran on this forum, and through the owner I made contact with Aaran. I had various conversations with him and travelled down to Horncastle so we could agree what needed to be done and a price. On the day of taking her down, I was still unsure if I really wanted or needed the work to be done but after collecting the car, I am so pleased that I had the work carried out. I cannot thank Aaran of AJ Restorations enough for his work and attention to detail. We are going off topic but I thought I would share my experience... Wanted adds work when someone wants something and someone hasn't thought about selling. Often things people have bought but not used and left on a shelf. When someone asks for one you can help them out. On the other hand when selling I've trying to contact people with wanted adds but how far back do you go? A week, a month, longer? Also when you get to the point of wanting to sell something you often want it out the way. It can take time for individuals to respond to often say they are no longer looking but didn't update their wanted add (me included!). In summary, do use wanted adds and do keep looking at for sale adverts but don't feel down if it doesn't go your way.1 point

Just a thought, but by low windscreen, do you mean the old AA Composites aero Screen? (As discussed in other thread?) If so, might be worth adding to the title. I must admit to having glanced at this and assumed you wanted a regular windscreen rather than aero, just not the taller new style screen as used on Sport 250, ST3 and others.1 point

KEY UPDATE: The event is technically free but please bring some money as the venue is a pub which does good food and we will be raising money in memory of one of our inspirational members, John Park and his chosen charity Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care where he saw out his final days in March this year. The plan is for people to meet at The Cottage Inn, Upper Bucklebury (http://thecottageinnupperbucklebury.co.uk/) we can arrive from 8:30am and the pub will be open for toilets etc as the landlord Gary will be up cleaning and chef is also there then. If participants could look at menu’s and if they wish food to let us know, no later than a week before so Gary can keep everyone fed on the day. We will be registering people attending from 8:30am and direct them to our designated parking area in the field at the rear of the carpark. We will have a table and chairs there for everyone to sign in. General chat to the drivers will be at 9 am and 9:30 am. We will accommodate for those running later, so no real panic to be there. Its a fun, friendly event. You will be given the documents, maps and paraphernalia 15 minutes before your leave times. You can leave before 15 mins, but the clock starts 15 mins after you have this. This allows you to work out which direction you wish to head. You will not be able to do all the markers in the allotted time so will have to make a decision on direction and points. It would be sensible for participants to bring a clip board or similar. The use of satnavs can be for solo entrants . The event has a 3 hr run time. Anyone over this time gets points deducted . We will batch cars into start times and as they leave, their times will be logged to start. I hope we can get cars leaving at 9:15am and last ones gone by 10am for any stragglers. Not set in stone if people do run late, it’s not an issue. I will make a sheet of rules etc and phone numbers for the event day and will be with the entrants info. Doesn't your sat nav give your speed? You should be able to change it to kilometres.1 point

If my daily had all this nanny state stuff it would not bother me as most the time. Lucky to make it up to speed limit most the time around here. I think it’s OVER nannying really. As far as bad / dangerous driving is concerned most of what I see is not speed related. Lack of road craft/ not concentrating or being a TW.T are the main issues.1 point

My most often deployment of cruise control in in 30 or 40mph areas, and in motorway roadworks with a reduced limit. As a cruising tool for long term use on motorway journeys I find it tens to aggravate attention lapses.1 point

The postage system is volumetric not by weight, from memory which causes, ahem, issues. The advice, as always, is if it looks wrong, give them a ring and speak to parts. They will usually be able to sort things out, reasonably.1 point

yes mate, i dyed the dash, arm rests and the centre consul bit and covered the worn bits on my seat, it definitely needs sealing though as i have rubbed bits off the arm rests kicking them before i sealed them1 point

That’s a bit harsh. Ask a company to machine one for you out of aluminium and you’ll find it costs a fair bit more! However. If you can find a bit of alloy tube, then use that as an alternative with a long m5 nut and bolt to hold it in place.1 point
