  1. Last year I had Buttercup rebuilt by Luke at Playskool. I am extremely happy with the work Luke carried but the work was all hidden below the bodywork. I felt that the body was letting the car down a little as there where various marks and scuffs from her 19 years. I did discuss with Luke about having a new body but I decided this option wasn't for me. I also thought about wrapping but again decided against it. I saw a car that had been painted by Aaran on this forum, and through the owner I made contact with Aaran. I had various conversations with him and travelled down to Horncastle so we could agree what needed to be done and a price. On the day of taking her down, I was still unsure if I really wanted or needed the work to be done but after collecting the car, I am so pleased that I had the work carried out. I cannot thank Aaran of AJ Restorations enough for his work and attention to detail. Here is a link with plenty of pictures in case you would like to have a look. <iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fmedia%2Fset%2F%3Fset%3Da.1197658287079801%26type%3D3&width=500" width="500" height="745" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowTransparency="true" allow="encrypted-media"></iframe>

  3. Got my travel insurance through Saga. Cover was way above others and only cost £23.00. Considering i've recently had an eye operation i thought very reasonable. Just got to sort my breakdown cover now.

  8. Hi, I joined at Stoneleigh, after recently finally buying a Westy. Based in mid -wales and took my lad for quick spin last night enjoying the good weather, plenty of jobs to do to get it how I want, but that's half the fun I suppose. Cheers Rob

  12. I'm at Prescott on 9th. June, sorry, driving my XKR up the hill! Not competitive, I hasten to add, but as a guest of the E-Type owners in the Jaguar Drivers' Club. Mind you, I'll be trying to make sure that my XKR is quicker than the E types up the hill!!

  14. I did add in a load of recommended DBS records, so that will have improved things. Family matters take over at the weekend when I fly to Florida - right now I’m available but sporadically rather busy 👍

  15. Lastly for now, I have a plug machined from polypropylene which is a snug sliding fit into the back of a Ford type 9 gearbox. This is invaluable when installing or removing the engine and gearbox from a car. It stops the oil from leaking out! I can't really charge for this as I had it free from Steve Perks, so I'll give first refusal to any member signed up to the Speed Series, who agrees to make a donation to the Derby area charity appeal this year, and it can be delivered to Blyton, or maybe a round of the Speed Series before then.

  17. From that link "The changes proposed by the EU modify the way a vehicle drives so drastically that I believe everyone would need to re-take a modernized driving test which of course nobody wants to do" It'll never happen. There are plenty of people who shouldn't be on the roads, who don't know the laws or who make up their own highway code and attempt to enforce it on others. The solution is always to pander to these fools instead of removing them from our roads, the reducing speed limits to 40, because of people who can't do 60 or simply don't know what the NSL is. Still they have not changed the highway code to make "merge in turn" rules more clear and apparent, it's still a subject they skip around, they still allow people to drive around wrongly and aggressively blocking merge points. I don't know why they're so opposed to driver improvement, but I don't think they'll be making us take a new driving test any time soon.

  18. Weather not looking great, but also not looking too bad.. I think it's far too early to say, but I can guarantee the sun will not stop shining on May 23rd. So far we have: Me Booked Ross Booked Stoney Booked @Michael Whitworth Booked @Trevturtle Booked @Oily Steve Booked @Chris King - Webmaster and Joint North East AO. Fallen by the wayside @AdamR Booked Magnificent seven? To book on, give me your name, and I'll add it to the MSV's group list. Then phone MSV on 01474 875 226 ask for Stuart Garland (If anyone else answers the phone they can probably take details too) and say you're in my group (Andrew Dixon).

  24. The postage system is volumetric not by weight, from memory which causes, ahem, issues. The advice, as always, is if it looks wrong, give them a ring and speak to parts. They will usually be able to sort things out, reasonably.

  28. I have a Dunhill dress watch with a matching ladies' version bought in a Kuala Lumpur street market in 2002 for $15.00 and a Rolex from Taipei in 1986. The Rolex stopped working when my son dropped it on a stone floor and stood on it... 😁 Aforementioned son now has a A$6k Omega his Aussie mother-in-law gave him as a wedding present. Just wait 'til I get my hands on it! My £20 Casio plods on... The time passes just the same.

  33. Very disappointed to see this. The likelihood is I'll be relinquishing my licence this year and keeping my hard earned away from Motorsport UK and their Ill thought out rules and decision making. If I keep my car, my money will go to somewhere to which common sense applies. Starts with J and ends in Avelin! Either the MSA simply have no concept of grass roots Motorsport or they simply have no interest in it? Either way, it's all a bit pathetic. RIP sprinting

  37. No, but I did drive my o,d one to a Speed Awareness course, once. When they asked for photo ID I handed over an MSA license! Of the two course leaders, who’d both seen me arrive, one just burst out laughing, and the other, who I’m now convinced was a retired (pushed out) headmistress, looked squarely at me and said “you’re a trouble maker, I’ve got my eye on you!”
