A bit of shameless self publicity, as you all know now how shy cat's can be Fast fwd to 2:26 and see if you recognise anyone? Half way up Finished Pace in blue, heart rate red, and gradient in grey More details here: http://www.mowcop.info/killermile/killermile.htm Sadly I crossed the line in 11M53S which is my slowest in 8 attempts over the last 10 years, though I'm still injured with a damaged left achilles. My best is 9M57S. @Kit Car Electronics Mike, you need to try this. it's only a mile6 points

Saving my anger for the scrutineers and the MSA 😛 I'm trying a different approach... to see if I can made it trough a post without upsetting someone... XD4 points

@SimonRad You are free to take your own decisions and focus on another championship… BUT: Ambiguous rules, wouldn’t be the word… The championship is made in a way that you can actually compete against other people without being in the same event than them EVER in the whole season. Is made in that way to ensure everybody has as much opportunities to compete as possible, and compatible with most of the agendas. However, doing it like this, you will always have unfair situations as you will never be competing in the same conditions of other competitors and this is a fact that needs to be accepted. The comments in here, well. There is always a huge resistance to modify the rules here, even put them to debate without offending someone seems impossible. Always happens. But at the end the SSOT always takes good note of our suggestions and so far there is a good compromise between competitors wishes and the regulations. For sure they will take a look for next year so see what can be done with this rule.4 points

Still going strong. Managed 9.5 miles today from Dolgellau to Barmouth3 points

To close my contribution to this discussion; my assertion still remains that this rule should only be applied if the conditions warrant it, and in this case the “conditions” were as favourable as they were in the round held at Anglesey in April. Anyone who believes that the “conditions” doesn’t refer to something that could affect all of the competitors, such as rain, poor visibility, extremes of temperature etc. are wrong, in my opinion. The intention is that the times of 61% of the competitors attending the event is used as a means of deciding the revised target times in such a situation, not to trigger the rule regardless. It was, after all, originally referred to as the “Wet Day” rule, not the “low number of attendees” rule. I have or had no intention of criticising any competitor, just the way the rule was invoked based on the number attending and not the “conditions” prevailing at the time (in fact I doubt if anyone even considered the conditions, as it appears to happen at every event that has a low attendance). That’s it from me, I’ll go and try to improve my times, assuming conditions are favourable. Tony3 points

bl**** hell, what happened to the angry Spanish man we know and love? 😄 Seriously though, spot on. I can't think of other series / championships that allow such a broad range of venues and dates, allowing drivers to 'compete' with each other despite never meeting! (Said in a positive way). The regs are there up front before we join, so the decision is ours.2 points

Yes thanks to Stu for his advise on stand location we have booked for this event. The stand may be lacking staff as we will probably be watching the racing!2 points

So after the taster of Westfield club spirit at Stoneleigh are we ready for The Silverstone Classic? Tickets are still available but the early bird discount has lapsed. Trust me, the show is unreal and for the first time the Factory will be there too.2 points

Still you are missing my point, or as often happens, I'm unable to make my point. First thing I've said is that the competitors have done nothing wrong and that is nobody's fault... so i can't see how you take it as a complaint against a competitors score. I couldn't care less about it. My complaint (not even a complaint) my debate... is against a rule that in certain circumstances will reward going slower than faster. And that is wrong in a "SPEED" championship. Do we agree at least with this last point? Rules can't be changed partway the season, i get it and i thing nobody is asking about it. The debate here is if is the rule is right or not, or if it could be re-definded for a more fair outcome when it is applied. To make it clear again... I have ZERO grievances about anyones scores. I've myself taken "profit" once on this rule, and I raised back there the oddness of it. And ill repeat myself again... Taking things personally instead of trying to take it as an opportunity of healthy debate to try to improve stuff for following seasons is what doesn't helps. Just my view anyway.2 points
-
Hold on a minute... No one is criticizing any competitor... he is done NOTHING wrong and shouldn't be taken that way. Neither the opportunity of debating a rule that appears to be inconsistent. Why do we have such a inclination to take things personally? This is NOBODY's fault... but that doesn't means is right, and being able to debate such things should be taken naturally...2 points

I remember when this used to be fun!! Come on guys, support and applaud the guys who turned up, the effort and commitment to travel, remember that those who make the rules do so with vast experience, in a voluntary capacity, to the best of their ability and with everybody's best interests at heart!! NO set of rules will ever suit all of the people all of the time so please try and respect what the ssot have achieved and continue to work hard to improve. And to go back to the point Steve made in his original comments, get out there and improve your personal times/targets. We all started somewhere, so.e people will end up being very quick, some won't. We cant all be superstars!! Rich2 points

I don't think the rain (actually light showers) is forecast to be much before 3.00pm. I'm going anyway, in support of the Speed Series guys.1 point

Hi All Westfield Owners, Everyone Westfield Sportscars would like to say a massive thank you for all members who came out and attend the show and came to our stan. It was fantastic to see such support and meeting new and existing customers. Your plot in particular was very impressive. Loved the huge range of cars I put a lot of faces to names, who I have spoken with since the start of the year. Really good chatting about your cars and other topics. I greatly appreciate all the kind words and well wishes I received. Made me feel very welcome. Have a fantastic week everyone and if you need any support or assistance, please feel free to contact me or the Team. Regards Patrick1 point

Thanks for the headsup on the BBC4 prog. I'd always considered the Beeb to be pro remain. For the Liberal party reference, Jeremy Thorpe and 'Scott of the Arseantics' immediately springs to mind. Some Class! Eh? As for the Lib Dems. I think the name fits. They've adopted a Liberal definition of the word Democrat.1 point

Events are not just run for our championship alone. Lots of other championships go to the same rounds. For the sake of a few quid, it makes sense to me to enter more than just one to make your entry count towards more than one championship. I see no point in avoiding one championship, especially if it is our own1 point

Hi Brad, I'm ok for the Killin run .... Where / Time do you want to meet?1 point

And... I couldn't disagree more with that point. The "shut up and play" approach is just wrong, especially in a friendly environment like this as there is not a single moan addressed to an individual.1 point

Maurici, the rules cannot be changed part way through the season. To do so would be plainly unfair. Therefore airing grievances about another competitor's score on this open forum achieves no good at all. If a competitor has a grievance then the way to deal with it is covered by the regulations and by the blue book.1 point

Booked 12 months personal cover, note the offer for roughly £48/twelve months finishes midnight on the fourteenth of May, then it goes up a little bit, (still below £60 though, if memory serves)1 point

Hi @Neil Levings and Hope to see you at Warwickshire Area meetings, next one on Thursday 16th May at The Falcon, Birmingham Rd, Hatton, around 7.30pm. Also have you seen Steve's car for sale, slightly over budget but an excellent car that we know well.1 point

Well said Stephen These guy's should be supported for turning out! I am sure they will have done there best to get near to the target times! Look at the fight I had with Mark B at Wiscombe 2 weels ago! I was out in the cold at MIRA on Sat and everyone was querying what had happened to the times on the day!" No one esle turned up at Angelsey to give it a go so well done to the 2 that did ! Glutey1 point

As I am deemed to be 'really slow' above I thought I would add my 2 pennyworth. I travelled 10 hours each way to compete in this event, my first sprint, my first time at Angelsey. I was very disappointed that only myself and Mark had turned up, I did think when entering there would be more WSCC competitors given the weather would be more likely to be better than in April. As it was Mark and I had a good time mixing with a few other 7's. even the scrutineers were friendly and helpful! The conditions were damp in the morning indeed before one of the runs it was raining though as Adam has (without the courtesy of asking) lifted videos from my facebook page you can see it was cold but sunny thereafter. Turning to the gripes about the scoring system, quite frankly I knew nothing about the consequences of 1.6d/e, Mark had a few clutch issues and I was just a crap driver. I was aware of target times and my observation is that maybe these need looking at particularly if they were set with more race orientated tyres. For the record my car is a completely standard 1300 Busa and run on 1b tyres. My objective was to improve my PERSONAL times throughout each day, which I achieved so was quite happy. As it was I came away with 2 class wins and best novice driver overall. Thanks for the welcome to your Series1 point

Only a small update as I've been back on the DIY for the last couple of weeks. There's not much left to do now but one of the jobs was to fit the chain. This was on the list to do a few weeks ago were it not for an ebay seller who let me down by promissing a 2day delivery that in the end turned out to be 6weeks! Suffice to say I cancelled the order and did what i should have done originally and bought one from the local motorcycle shop. Even after finally getting a chain the problems didn't end there as it wouldn't fit the sprocket! No problem as I have plenty of alternative sprockets but I'd obviously fitted one in error that had the wrong pitch. With the engine now in the final position and the chain adjusted correctly ita time for a brave pill and cutting the engine cover. The position of the cut out was marked from the underside by drawing around the cylinder head and then the corners of the cut out drilled with a hole saw. the straight cuts were then made with a fine saw with a file and sand to finish. A quick clean and polish then the roundels were applied. a race car needs numbers so 67 seemed a fitting choice since this car would have first been raced in 1967. j1 point

I’ve just got my indoor cover and am over the moon with it. Fits like a glove and is excellent quality, elasticated edges for a tight fit, storage bag and also has straps if you need - they even provide little silicone covers for the plastic clips to avoid any scratches! highly recommended www.everycarcovered.com1 point

I totally agree with you Tony. I’ve decided to concentrate on a different championship this year and I probably won’t join the series next year, partly to do with unclear regs but mainly because of some of the comments on here. 🙁 I’m not jealous of somebody scoring more points than me, and I haven’t criticised a competitor I’ve criticised the regs. What a shame.0 points
