The car is an Aussie built Westfield running a Toyota 4AGE with Quaife gearing and lsd. Joined the forum a few weeks ago for research and ended up buying. Loving it so far and really just posting to say thanks for the wealth of information Inhave found. Joined as a member to do my bit despite my location. Stu6 points

Just re-joined after a two year absence. I sold my V8 Westie to buy a house and miss it terribly. It had a new MOT yesterday so I know somebody somewhere is still enjoying it (not that im stalking it). I'm looking to buy another Westie (or seven esque car). I am looking at a Red Top engined car on carbs this weekend, which looks pretty clean. I have also been offered an old Dax, which is very tired looking, but half the price. I'm not wanting a project though and want something I can enjoy immediately and then maybe fettle over winter. I have also considered the Zetec, but good ones dont hang about for long. I've read a few horror stories about the Duratec so am a bit undecided on these. Decided against another V8 as I want something a bit more nimble this time. I am hoping on around 200hp which should balance reliability and performance. I ride bikes and believe bike engines are best suited for bikes. I'm a V-Twin man so not a fan of screaming engines. I was enormously spoilt with my previous Westie and quality is more important than quantity. I have budgeted up to £12k as being a property owner now I have to be relatively sensible. It has a good sized garage though, just needs a Westie in it. Any thoughts on Red Top engines are welcome, I was a huge fan of these in my boy racer days but never got round to ever owning one. Cheers, Stu3 points

I am off to Arundel in a moment so thought I would use this trip as a test drive in my wez - Italy next month! It's only a couple of hours (from Buckingham) but on challenging roads, A34, M27. I always ignore the M25. If the constant close up of mercedes hub caps becomes intimidating I shall go off piste... And may never be seen again...3 points

Folks, As you know our ever-popular Blyton Track day and Speed Series weekend is back again; more information can be found at http://www.blytonsprintweekend.co.uk and also, keep your eyes on the various posts on the forum over the coming months. The dates this year are 12th, 13th and 14th July. The track day is on Friday 12th and the Speed Series runs on the Saturday and Sunday. Please come along and support your Club, you can get involved in many aspects of motor sport from start line and marshalling to paddock as well as joining in the fun on track which most of you have already signed up for. This year we are planning some professional tuition for anyone who fancies upping their game or simply wants to improve their racing lines and braking zones. We aim to run ten sessions of thirty minutes each, during this time you will have a camera attached to your car, then you will review the video and discuss improvements with the instructor, then you'll go out again and make it all happen and so on until your allocated time is up . These sessions will be £40 each, if we can squeeze more sessions in on the day we will try to accommodate. This is in addition to the track day cost, you will have to book on the track day in order to take advantage of this offer. Do please reply to this post to let us know if you are interested in the track day tuition and we will make it happen. When we have things agreed the Blyton website http://www.blytonsprintweekend.co.uk will be updated so you can pop over and book your place, we will update this post when that happens so stay tuned...2 points

Greetings Stu! Lovely part of the world. My son married an Australian girl and they had their honeymoon in Tasmania - they loved it! I have an old girlfriend in Sandford near Hobart. I haven't seen her since 1967 just before she left UK never to return. Maybe one day... Nice to have you on board.2 points

Helloooooooo. Does anyone need a heated screen package? Due to my strange aversion to the heating wires being visible (something to do with my varifocal glasses) I'm not going to go down the heated screen route. It's not new, I bought it from another member who had only ever test fitted it and it's near spotless, I've just pulled this out of the garage and wiped it down with a bit of liquid autosol... a couple of years on the shelf haven't been too kind to the uprights / Pillars, they would benefit from either an hour or two hand polishing or five minutes with a mop to get them back to super shiney, but the screen surround and glass are v-good no cracks or dings in the glass and only some very minor marks from the shelf on the surround. The Electrical relay harness is included as are the , uprights / pillars and mirrors. I'm never going to trust carriers with this so it would be collection or meet half way sort of delivery. I can't Whats app pics I just tried and it didn't work ! so I'll do my best to get them up on here. Any sensible offer please? I'm Looking for about £240 Regards Nem.....1 point

From my Formula Ford days in the very early 80's, I remember speaking to Ayrton Senna (then Da Silva) at Oulton Park. He took lengths out of me through Druids in practice, so I asked him afterwards about his gearing and he told me what he was using. I said, "...but with that gearing, the engine will be absolutely screaming down the straight towards Lodge". With a shrug of his shoulders, he nonchalantly replied, "So?". He was driving a works Van Diemen with the best engines available, so it didn't matter to him. I, on the other hand, was on a very tight budget. Another time, I was stood next to Tom Walkinshaw on the grid just before the start of the Silverstone 1000kms. He was running the fabulous Silk Cut Jaguars and after they'd played "God Save the Queen", he turned directly to me and said "Well, let's see if we can win this for the Old Girl then!" (The Slik Cats won!) I also remember several stories from driving Perry McCarthy (later to become the original TG Stig) to Brands Hatch (we were guests of Keke Rosberg), but I can't put these into print in case the Police are monitoring this! I was once in the bar in the BRDC suite at Silverstone before the British GP, and I accidentally bumped into a guy, making him spill his drink. As I turned to apologise, I noticed it was HRH The Duke of Kent and he was talking to Jackie Stewart. I thought, "well, there goes my Knighthood!" Whilst doing the recce for the Ulster Rally in the mid 80's, we met Tony Pond and Rob Arthur at the beginning of a stage. They asked if it was the stage finish and they looked very sheepish when I told them "No, it's the start". They'd recce'd it the wrong way! I have absolutely no idea how they'd managed that. Loads more stories and fond memories of brushes with fame.1 point

A few years ago I was skiing at an indoor ski centre when I followed someone on a snowboard up the drag lift, at the top he fell over, got up and went to his mates. As I passed him, he said "I can't turn left". Dougie Lampkin can ride a trails bike anywhere, but he can't turn left.1 point
