Believe it or not I will be attending with my new improved Westy, Only nearly a year since she came over the water....3 points

Already well know in here, but mine is called The Wench because it’s loud, opinionated, likes it rough, smokes a bit, drinks like a fish, hates being ignored, takes all my money, and if you’re inside her for more than an hour your back hurts and your bum goes numb. It was chosen by Lady Colonial.3 points

MOT'd the Westie today, passed with no advisories, although the clutch slave cylinder needs a new set of seals, slight leak. 3,997 miles over the last 12 months, compared with 3,807 miles in my road car.2 points

Problem is we are all individuals. Some of us will take time to see if someone wants something before posting an ad and others will not read any instructions, info, rules or guidelines and post what they want wherever they want (leaving us to tidy it up!) (Edit : most will be somewhere in between) So regardless of what a section is called or what it is supposed to contain, people will be people!2 points

By the way, You haven't had a hot hatch till you have experienced a french torsion rear axle... I.E. Clio 16v/williams, Clio 172/182, Peugeot 205/106 or my absolute favourite the SAXO VTS 16V. This saxo, and my old renault 5 Gtturbo, are the only road cars that I've ever had that I really miss...2 points

Indeed, don't forget, what a knowledgeable enthusiast can achieve is very different from what can be done as a practical, salable proposition from a niche manufacturer: can you image if Binky was costed out for a sale price, including profit margin!!1 point

Expect the cutout is for a ITG Megaflow type filter, looks very simular to the cutout in mine. Sadly I am after a yellow one!1 point

They are no longer available from Westfield (except in white) so there's definitely going to be a growing market for them, especially if the fibre glass isn't cracked / good condition.1 point

Ive been very near to do so very recently, to replace my Z4, BUT i would miss my roofless experience. Here my Saxo... she was a beauty, hot, tricky, tastefully modified, a bit crazy but mostly reliable... Unfortunately, i don't keep any graphic memory of my former 5 turbo. @BCF, buying a saxo, isnt it?1 point

My saxo vts and my 5 turbo are the only cars I've ever regretted selling1 point

This thread is making me smile as a lot of the cars mentioned I have had or have with some great memories. Alfa v6 GTV (busso engine) S54 engined Z4m (same engine as e46 M3 in different packaging along with the hydraulic steering of the CSL) Currently my get to work runabout is a Saxo VTR so not the top spec VTS but 15 years old with 25k miles on it and is great fun to fling about. Not as raw as a Westie but if you jump in the modern family wagon and back into it, it feels close to the go cart feel. Only other cars I have loved as much as these was my various old e30 BMW as they were my first rear wheel drive.1 point

There are a number of factors, I suspect. Historically, it was down, I suspect, to ready availability of engines and gearboxes in rear wheel drive format, both second hand and crucially, brand new. Ford has always made engines available in bulk to the trade etc via various outlets. Not that many other manufacturers outside the US do that. Its crucial that whatever engine a company like Westfield uses, for the majority of its models, is able to be purchased brand new, in trade numbers, so that they can sell entirely new cars. Equally, Westfield really don’t want to have to be engineering custom install solutions, where possible, so they really need engines that bolt straight up to the available rear wheel drive gearboxes, or that a purpose made bellhousing, to adapt engine to gear box is available for. Developing and manufacturing custom solutions to install an unusual engine, only available second hand(?) immediately makes it very much a niche product. They’ve done it to some extent with the Mega S2000, although even then, it was a rear drive engine already, that comes with a gearbox, so no big bell housing issue to resolve. The other big factor that influences engine choices is how well they actually fit! Many engines these days are very tall, and can be troublesome to package for Westfield use.1 point

When I’ve had stuff left over from upgradeitis, I’ve used the Wanted section to see if anyone else needs it before putting up a general For Sale ad. Generally speaking, people who put up a wanted ad are often in dire need of a part after an issue and before an event or trip. Help a club member in need, you get help when you need it, Karma thingy. And as far as Parts go, a picture paints a thousand words...1 point

Slightly off topic but a bit of fun, I tried the Aviva Drive app on track for a laugh. I was hoping to get a terrible score, much to my confusion I got many 'good driving' badges including the smooth driver badge. I was pulling over a 1G on corners and braking so no idea how it was judged as smooth!1 point

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING There were 4 of the SSOT team at the event and we not only spent a lot of time talking to the drivers affected but also some of the LDMC officials. In addition yesterday I spent the whole day on the phone talking to LDMC and the SSOT checking on the FACTS. Please be assured that in the SSOT we have many years of experience including understanding the Rules and their application as well as dealing with scrutineers. We have already contacted Motorsport UK officials and we are developing a plan to address the issues raised at the weekend. We all feel frustrated and disturbed by what happened but we need to put emotions to one side and sort out the Rules and their interpretation ASAP. This is a national issue that affects many divers and makes of car and has been a concern to drivers since since the requirement for CATS was introduced about 10 years ago and has often been debated in the paddock etc So let us get on with our plans and we will report back ASAP1 point

Had an epic trip here with 27 kits starting from Chester. As it was a charity run, the owners didn't charge us the entrance fee and kindly let us drive through the village in groups of 3. Some great roads driven on the way there! Some strange goings on! Lovely location I spy @bioman The only Bagpuss in the village? @CosKev's Chaffeur Virtually straight pipes on both sides- great noise!1 point

Following a cracking morning at Haynes Breakfast club (pics here https://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/topic/133535-pictures-added-haynes-breakfast-club-sunday-7-april/), my dad, bro and I headed over to the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton for a quick snack before enjoying the non-forecast sun on the way home1 point
