  3. @neptune @thebutler @nick311256 I look after the WSCC myself. Apologies for the delay. I've been rather unwell recently, starting from Monday and have not been at work full time. I wasn't on site Tuesday ,Thursday or Friday. Yesterday I did a few hours yesterday and returned home. Hence the late reply. Which is not the norm. The discount code was running from Monday 25/3/2019 to Friday 29/3/2019. Attached is the banner which was scrolling on top of our webshop. In error I should have put the end date in the description on here when I posted. We had a positive response to the discount code, many people taking advantage. It seems to have faulted Thursday onwards. For those members on here who were unable to use the code, please send me a private message on here or email patrick@westfield-sportscars.co.uk - I'll ensure the order is processed with the discount. Regards Patrick

  5. My DAD! & Dad's Dad was a car enthusiast too. A few years ago Dad's first car was a sporty Jowett convertible. He drives every day and for last 6+ years he's been driving an MX5 mk3 - with 2 speeding tickets and no bumps! Not unusual you think! But he is now in his mid 90's and has just completed a power upgrade..... So proud of him. & so wish to be as sprightly and able to burn up the highways when I reach his age. (and be able to afford to)

  6. Since having my aeroscreen fitted I hadn’t given a full screen any thought untill I was killing time in the garage and found my old pillars and plastic mirrors..They were looking tired and the plastic had faded a bit and in general looked scruffy ,so I thought about giving them a makeover . I picked them up today and they looked like this got them done at a place called Hydrov8 in Peterborough by a great bloke called Chris . Top job . I may even put them on from time to time.

  7. This morning saw my first run out in the car since the (long) winter lay-up. Nothing too ambitious; 110 miles or so around Bridgenorth / Craven Arms / Much Wenlock area of Shropshire, sticking to some really superb B roads. The car didn't miss a beat and I enjoyed a couple of hours of early spring sun. What made this trip different was my new heated vest that the wife bought me for my birthday over the winter, after a little bit of prompting and a fair bit of research by me beforehand. I must confess, I'm a lover of heated seats. Be it in my previous 5 series, the wife's SLK (which has the bonus of the Air-Scarf system too) or my Pick up truck; I tend to click the seat heating to full when I jump in for the first few miles then notch it back to a steady comfortable level. I have looked into heating the Westfield seats but always abandoned the idea for various reasons; the main one being rain water in an open top car mixing with the electrics. I seriously looked at the aftermarket pads that can be bought very reasonably but didn't really trust them not to set me or the car on fire. So a heated vest it was. The item is from the motorcycle world and it's a Keis V501 Premium heated vest https://www.keisapparel.co.uk/product/v501-premium-heated-vest/ It's not particularly cheap at £140 although in January the wife picked it up for just over £100, and it's available at most bike outles for ~£129, but my god what a difference it made on a chilly day. The vest itself has carbon fibre heat pads and plugs either into a cable connected direct to the car battery or as I've chosen to do, via a 12v cigarette socket. There's a controller that hangs out of a side pocket that controls power on/off and lets you select the Low/Med/High heat settings. I started out on the drive at home be selecting high, but before i was out of town I had to knock the heat down to medium. I left it on medium for the remainder of the drive and was toasty warm around the chest and back but especially around the kidney area which was a nice feeling. As the mornings get lighter towards June I do like to head out early to beat the traffic and enjoy the North Wales roads at their quietest so the vest should help with some 4 or 5am starts before the sun has had chance to warm things up. As stated, it's a fair chunk of cash but the heating elements have a lifetime warranty so I'm hoping to get a fair bit of use out of it. It does have sockets to connect a pair of heated gloves but that may be a step too far even for me...! Just thought I'd share.....

  12. Spent the whole of my childhood school holidays riding shotgun with my dad who was a long distance lorry driver. Visited all corners of the UK from thurso to penzance and also into Europe. Then once old enough had a Saturday job at his work working in the workshop working on hgvs, trailers, cranes forklifts etc doing servicing and repairs. Since then been hooked on driving and tinkering. Even ended up as a aircraft mechanic/technician then onto a licensed engineer for my day job. All down to my old man I reckon. Although he wasn't too impressed when I was 17 and he came home to 2 stripped fiestas on the drive as I was using a donor to provide a new engine for my 1.0 fiesta. Was hoping to have it all done before he got home!

  16. Hello everyone , I would like to thank all who were able to make last sundays lunch and discussion, and to those who couldn't I hope to catch up through the year ahead. Again I started off with a discussion about having a joint area organiser based in the south / central belt area to co-ordinate runs and take a few pictures and notes as we go along. The main reason is that we have a huge geographical area and one person can't do our area membership justice, so if anyone fancies a chat about it drop me a line. the dates that were agreed on were as follows; 12th May - Killin , I'm away on holiday so we are looking for someone to take the lead on this one 24th May - 9th June Switzerland (norway next year) 9th June lead hills / central; Brad and Diane agreed to put this one together as they know the area 21st/23rd June Strathfillan wigwams; this is our annual weekend away and some have already booked up, I would advise that if your coming to book up asap as 7th July Fort Augustus, a loop over the hills around Tomatin, Culloden, Dulnain bridge (lunch at Muckrach lodge) then up the cairngorms 14th July Glenshee, we will be coming down and hopefully some can come up north and we can have lunch and a few miles together before we head on our respective routes home 26th/28th July silverstone classic, a great weekend of classic racing, entertainment and the club will have a show area there 4th August Ballater, after assembling the cars ( clubs and classics) parade through Ballater, then a road run before heading back to Ballater show park, many thanks to Alastair for helping with this one 18th August Eyemouth fish and chips 18th August Ullapool fish and chips 24th August MYSTERY NAVIGATION RUN, a great new event which will hopefully attract members from a few different areas aswelll, we will be staying the night so why not come and make a weekend out of it? 1st September Bo'Ness revival this year celebrating Jim Clark so entries need to be in by June/ July 8th September Knockhill circuit the wscc speed series will be in Scotland so we could go and lend our support "a day at the races" I will send out more details / put on the forum as we go forward, and hope to see as many of you as possible both old and new at these events / runs. If anyone wants more details on any of these dates, or on whats involved as a joint A/O, drop me a line or give me a call 07715554020 If anyone wants to do an impromptu run, April and May are bare at present (i need to finish the upgrades) then feel free to let me know and I can pop a circular out , you never know you might get a bit of company. And don't be shy of sending me any photos of your runs, tinkering, shows or indeed anything westy related Regards Gary

  17. The WSCC Speed Series is at Wiscombe Park hill climb on 27 and 28 April. We're gong to hold the next Devon and Somerset meet on the Saturday 27 April to support the Speed Series, have a catch-up and enjoy some on-track action. http://www.wiscombepark.co.uk/events/events.htm I will post a pre-meet location nearer the time (so we can drive in together and park for a group photo of course ) I believe the coffee bar usually sells some cake as well! For anyone unable to make the pre-meet, let's say 11:00 in the paddock in front of the gates into Wiscombe House (behind the food vans) for a catch-up. I'll have my Westfield cap on as always - please come and say hello. See you there, Dave and Tracy.

  29. Hi Geoffrey, It enters via a hidden zip on the front left side (see photo 2) so ideal to reach over and plug into passenger side / centre consol outlet. The heat controller comes out of it's own zipped pocket also on the left and hangs out on its sturdy cable pigtail. (I've pulled it right out of the pocket in photo 1 for clarity). If you do buy one, get at least a size smaller than you think you need. I got a 2XL, sent it back for an XL then sent that one back for a L. It neeeds to be a snug fit to heat you properly. The L is marked as 56 and seems good for me at 16.5 stone. All the wiring is hidden within the vest and there are additional plugs (as can be seen in photo 2) for trousers and gloves if added later.

  30. One thing I thought of recently while working in London is a Westfield branded re-usable shopping bag that can be easily kept in my laptop bag. (the fabric type that can be shoved into a much smaller bag for storage). I tend to use it when I grab some lunch on the way to visiting a customer. I'm using one donated by my wife at the moment. Having a Westfield one in my laptop bag would be really nice.

  31. This is an issue I'm aware of and mentioned upon me starting with the company. Myself and management are looking for a resolution to the issue. I've tried back end to fix it however unfortunately it isn't a quick fix. The postage is calculated on each individuals items volumetric weight, similar process used by air freight companies. We have requested help to resolve this issue. once we have a fix it will be implemented. I do not have a confirmed date. In the meantime, please call or email. If something is wrong myself or a colleague can manually override and amend. Regards Patrick

  37. At last after a few frustrating weeks I’m back on the road As someone with limited knowledge but willing to have a go ,without this resource and the members I’d be lost ( or paying a garage ). One of the reasons I’d always wanted a westfield was so that I could learn the mechanical side of things as well as enjoy the driving . Thanks to you lot I can now do my own servicing, I’ve upgraded my radiator sorted My starter motor and electrical problems and my freewheel is up and running .Id like to say a big thanks to @Thrustyjust who always comes to my help ,his advice has been welcomed on many occasions on varying topics. Mike @Kit Car Electronics For sending me a freewheel package ready soldered with all the information to enable me and a mate to fit it Also for being good enough to give me his phone number on his Saturday afternoon off to help 2 people who didn’t really know that much get it working .It really is not that complicated and a great bit of kit (My favourite upgrade yet ) @Jon Wilkinson who was a Godsend with my electrics ,(turns out he’s an Auto electrician ) Without the above and indeed all of you the forum I’d be lost ,With you I’m gaining experience growing in confidence and ultimately one day may be able to build a car of my own .See you all at Stoneleigh . For anyone that’s not seen a freewheel yet here’s mine get one .. Steve

  39. As Dave says, this has been an issue for some time, at least over a year. I wanted a set of Protech shocks, they came in at 20+ kilos and £45. I phoned up instead and got it adjusted. Not we convenient as an online order, but may be worth it if there's a deal on, as there was in my case.

  41. Westfield are aware of issues with the carriage on the Parts Web Shop; there are anomalies that for various reasons are a bit harder to sort than just tweaking a setting. They are looking in to it behind the scenes I believe, but it's not just a quick/simple fix. If in doubt, just phone the order through, then you'll get the right rate. They know it's not ideal, but it does seem to be a common issue, I know Caterham, infamously have a similar problem. Or, of course, you could just buy local, as Martyn said.
