  2. The Westfields met up at McDonalds with the Burton Car Club. Martyn and Sue, Andrew and Clare, Scott and Charlie, Simon, Robin, Andy and us. We took the unremarkable journey to GBS where the car park was already fairly full and it was only 10am, so we parked where we could basically. We met Luke, Des and Debs, Bugman Steve and Barry making 16 club members in total, impressive. We looked around the factory Kicked some tyres I marvelled at a Marcos that arrived. Before I ever knew Glen he used to have one of these as a daily driver and I rather like them, but you never see them. Fibreglass body, wooden floor and a 1.6GT engine in Glen's not a V8 as this one is. Glen's was black until he had it sprayed the same colour as this one. After helping the GBS crew demolish some cake we decided we were hungry and went for lunch at Thaymar Ice Cream farm, just next to the A1 and Gamston airport. Thaymar Ice Cream Farm Like vultures circling we were After a hearty lunch Robin set the ball rolling with his banana split Others soon followed I had the 2 scoop dream, brandy and orange flavour and coconut flavour ice cream Clare had the Eton Mess Then Andrew decided it was exercise time, as everyone joined in the panorama dance, that I am getting quite good at. Everyone is glad about that as it means less running around because I get the photo on the first take. All too soon it was time to make the lengthy journeys home. Glen and I had found a hall on the way home so decided to have one cheeky last photo, as you do. Thank you all for coming along today, it has been very enjoyable and as always GBS got the weather right. We are heading up to Northumberland tomorrow for a little holiday to see if Hadrian has finished that Wall . We are back down next Saturday and will be desperate to get in the Westfield BUT it is Mothering Sunday, so I think we will be on our own unless someone shouts up and wants to join us. Whatever you do have fun and we will see you soooooon

  3. For anyone that's interested I bought a low cost folder and it been a great success for aluminium. I 've only needed to bend upto 2mm thickness so far. Here's the unit: And here's some of the things i've made so far. I've never done this before so it seems suitable for a beginner :

  6. Great to see some of the locals and not so local WSCC members converge on Castle Coombe to cheer on Simon Jones opening the WSCC Speed Series with a class win! Simon very kindly took some time out in between practice and times runs for a photo and to talk us through his great car - 2.0 Duratec (NMS prepped). Also great to put some faces to names, kick tires, lift bonnets and talk tech stuff. Seeing the SBD 1.6 Ecoboost powered Westy was nice but my wallet was cringing at the cost of that beast! Only 5 weeks until we are back at CC for the PJ Trackday with Costswolds Area on 29 April . Hope to meet more of you all there!

  7. Hi All As my post-Westfield journey continues and I'm looking to tick more car owning life experience boxes, I have my 986.2 Porsche Boxster 2.7 up for sale. I bought this over Christmas from Porsche specialist Friends Green Porsche. I chose this car because it had one owner from new up to August 2018, with a regular 10k miles per year done to 155k, and a full Porsche dealer and Porsche specialist service history. The log book has every single stamp in the book and the car has wanted for nothing in its life. I have maintained this full service history with a service and MOT at Export56 in February. It passed its MOT with zero advisories and a clean recommendation from Export56, who said it's one of the best condition Boxsters they've seen. The car is tight as a drum, the interior is immaculate and it drives like a much newer car, with compliant and positive suspension. It really is a wonderful car. As a regularly used car that is in completely original condition, it has the expected stone chips to the front bumper, along with a couple of small scrapes/scratches around the car, but unusually no car park dings anywhere. There is also a small hole in the hood, it doesn't leak and causes no issue, so hasn't bothered me at all. A new hood isn't very expensive and if I were keeping it, I'd either get a hard top for it for over winter, or replace the hood in the longer term. It looks stunning from a few meters away but during wash and polish when you're up close you can see its loved and used life. That flat 6 behind your ears sounds amazing. It's the second version of the 986, so comes with the higher power engine and cleaner features such as the clear indicator lenses. It also has the rare and wonderful sports seats option with embossed Porsche logo in the headrest! The car is completely standard and benefits from being so. It has just had a service, new brake pads all round and a clean MOT. It's ready to enjoy the summer! Comparing the car to others for sale on eBay, Pistonheads etc., this is a £6k car. However, because of the mileage, the hood and the few small marks, I am looking for £4,500. This doesn't include the service and MOT costs I have just spent on it, but does help move on to my next car buying adventure I am based just south of Milton Keynes, come and have a look and get yourself into a Porsche for summer!

  8. What a great day today. Met Dave at 8.00am and then headed to Bridlington for breakfast to meet Malcom and Di. What a difference to Malc and Di's car with the new wheels, seats and refurbished interior. The car really looked well. We then headed over to Sutton bank gliding club. We managed to travel for 90 minutes on country lanes and single track roads and it was brilliant. We even encountered a large group of cyclists shouting obscenities at us. They wanted to own all the road. Good job all cyclists are not like them. At the gliding club we where looked after so well. We where allowed to drive onto the airfield for a photo shoot with the gliders and the cars certainly caused some excitement. The technology in the gliders is amazing even though the wings had electricians tape wrapped around theme where assured they where safe. We where also invited to attend a flying display show by one of the organisers who was at the airfield. Brilliant cafe in the clubhouse with coffee at 50 pence a cup. We then headed over to Riveaulx Abbey to meet Mark. Riveaulx Abbey just totally blew me away and its a place I am going to revise for a couple of hours to have a proper mooch around. I have shown one tiny part of it only in the pictures. Mark joined us for a while in his new car he has just built and it looks really smart. It was here that di wanted me to pose sexily on buttercups bonnet but she was concerned that I would crush the car....wonder what she meant by that? Next stop was Hutton Le Hole for food and there where quite a few classic cars cruising through the village including a three wheel Morgan who must have been lost as all he did was go backwards and forwards through the village. Last stop was Lewisham which is a beautiful station on the NYM railway. Today has been a brilliant day with even better company. Thankyou everyone for joining in.

  10. Apologies for the delays everyone, been dealing with a family bereavement. I've uploaded the price lists kindly provided by @Paul T (tr3m5) - thank you - and I'm waiting to hear back from the last registered director of Kitcars International Magazine, which is still active in Companies House, so I can get permission to put the two articles in the Downloads section permanently. Meanwhile, please do keep the old brochures, price lists and magazine articles coming for the archive - thanks.

  24. Alloys are such a personal choice, style wise, that as soon as you move away from the popular styles, it’s a real lottery. Three spokes don’t seem to have been that popular for a while, so I’ve nothing to go off, to suggest a price. I can only suggest perhaps doing some general Googling on the type and seeing if you can find what they’ve sold for in the past?

  26. Seen as the Westie only travelled via trailer last year even though it was taxed and insured, I must make more of an effort to use it more this year. MOT passed yesterday, will tax next week and see how it goes!

  30. I ordered one from the factory today. I was told 2/3 weeks but I would be more confident if there were two in order. I've ordered my untrimmed because I plan to carbon skin it.
