  5. Hi ‘Tis me’ - could not keep away from the Westfield bug. It’s the 3rd one I have owned & looking forward to having great fun with it. I would like to thank James for accommodating my 1001 questions & patience completing the purchase. He has done a marvellous job with the upgrades. cheers Simon

  6. Hi All, I am looking for a set of 13s, for 205 preferably 7j. Could buy or swap for a set of 15s team dynamics with r888. Two almost brand new and two with half life in them. Thanks. Kind Regards.

  7. Hi all! It's the year I finally buy a Westfield... on the lookout to pick one up in the next two or three months - I presume the number of buyers increases as the weather improves so want to get in early! I plan on using the car for weekend drives, my country road commute occasionally in good weather, and perhaps get some lessons on the track - probably 3,000 miles per year total. On that basis I'm looking for something with a car engine. Budget max £10k but ideally a bit less - I don't need anything mad, just a bit of fun! I've got most basic tools and am mechanically minded but quite inexperienced so looking forward to learning on the journey. Ultimate aim is to build my own but for now I have a single garage with no power in it a short walk from my house, so that's something for the future! I look forward to learning from you; it seems a great community here

  9. If it is dry, and if I haven't sold the XI by then, I might join you for this one. If I've sold the XI, will I be allowed to join you with my XKR? Mind you, that is only going out in reasonable weather.

  11. I can assure you guys Westfield Parts Department is still very much in the same place as its always been on 01384 400077 and Patrick and Jason have plenty of parts in stock and they will have no problem with relieving you of your hard earned cash. Iank passing on there way to there granny and hiding new parts from there wife I hear lots of stories. its time for a clearout when you realise you have enough parts to build 5 complete car

  20. The long type arches are known as flared wings, Note the brackets that support them at the front are identical to the normal headlamp bracket, with the exception of the monger wing support. It’s possible to convert, simply by cutting off the longer wing supporting section, to just leave the headlamp bracket. As others have said, they cyclewings have different support brackets depending on whether you have Westfield’s own aluminium front uprights or cast iron Cortina type. If you’re not sure, then posting a photo up of the uprights, from the inside, showing the steering arm, will let members identify them for you, (Note, there’s also a third, much rarer option, Westfield fabricated steel uprights!) Before starting to spend too much though, have a plan for how you’re going to deal with the cosmetic damage once the flared arches are removed, also, do you have full interior trim? As if the arches have been fixed on following the original build manual, you will need to remove the outer interior trim panels to get at the mounting bolts. As for the cosmetic damage, it’s not just the diagonal line of bolt holes up either side of the outside of the tub, but you can also find that depending on how much the car has been used, there can be quite a mark scuffed into the gel coat where the flared arches have rubbed over time. Plus GRP is quite an odd material, it moves and settles in day to day use, especially with heat and strong sunlight, so it’s not unusual to find that once you unbolt two large panels, that the panel behind, in this case the tub, is no longer flat, but that the spots where the bolts were are now raised as the panel has distorted over time, to match the wing. If you’re going to get the car painted or wrapped, then obviously this can be dealt with easily enough by filler and sanding. replacement tub sides like the carbon fibre ones from a couple of suppliers will get rid of the fist four or so holes, but not the ones from around the windscreen area back. So you’d still need to do something with those. Worst case would be slapping stickers on!
