I'm not one for posting often on the forum, but thought I'd mention a few people that have (for me) made the club and forum the great source of information and fun in 2018 . In no particular order. @KugaWestie for the the build posts (Mini and the cobra 427 build) and the destructive testing on the Mini brakes at Blyton. @AdamR for the Lobster build posts (great technical discussions) and track day instruction @Julie Hall - AO Representative, Peak District AO for the arranging all the peak district activities. You can turn up most weekends (I don't ) and there's something happening. @Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Secretary 30000 posts and at Dave's normal rate will reach the number one posts of all time by stoneleigh .... we are watching @graham frankland for the efforts getting all the photos, vids etc ready for Shesley Walsh... I could go on, but these are the ones that immediately come to mind for me.. Thanks to the above for making it a great club and forum for me

Everyone that contributes deserves a mention in dispatches, whether it’s those that turn up to meets and runs, regardless of conditions. Those that bring the donuts(!) Those that are always their when volunteers are needed, those that take the time to help with advice and support through the Boardroom. And of course, the members that participate in the organised events, like the Speed Series, Shelsley Walsh, Silverstone, etc. We couldn’t do it without any of you!

I'd suggest it doesn't do the engine any good warming up with no load. Better to leave it alone and just keep the battery charged. Pump your tyres up to 50 psi.

As for extracting gasses from garage I have fitted a bathroom extractor fan the the front wall above the door. If needed I can connect aluminuim flexible ducting and move it to the exhaust location 10m of ducting costs about £20-£25 plus the cost of whichever fan you need. £10 up tpo £100 plus depending on manufacturer, noise levels etc. This is wired into a plug that can be used as required, although you could just wire it into the garage light, as you would with your bathroom. It generally helps remove all sorts of smells from the garage, such as if you ever use spray paint/ grinding/ cleaning/ spilt fuel / oil etc etc. Lee

Yep. I built a Mini Marcos in 1976. No initial test whatsoever, and if you paid your £20 'car tax' it was classed as a new car and didn't need MoT for 3 years. So my MM didn't have a handbrake for the first 3 years if its life

A buggy or a specialist sports car? His tyres look like they've got quite chunky tread rather than some semi slicks etc.

Ooops, at least he was OK. Must admit ( albeit with new tyres today) it was very sketchy where I went with the back end at junctions doing a wiggle and just drove to the conditions of mud, leaves and stupid people in normal cars.

My local garage has lots of interesting stuff in including a DB6. The owner had been warming it through every month or so - choke out, rev it a bit, get it up to temperature and switch off. Result was a very sooty head and a big bill for the 'de-coke'. Remember them??

Luckily I Iive next to an A road , so I leave the house on a grumpy cold engine and get up to 50 to 60 mph reasonably soon , so get off the cold start as quickly as possible. I did run mine up in the drive the other day as checking it did fire after the battery optimiser issues. Which I left for 20 mins, but found that the oil cap showed a splodge of white for moisture not quite cleared in the engine and I hope to get out in the car in the holiday break , so that will definately get to temp and clear the moisture when I get the time. I normally only run the car if I am going out for a drive for that reason. Also waiting on the new optimiser so I dont have to worry about times of not running . Should be here on Friday with any luck.

The instructions for the civic type r is to start engine and set off not to leave it idling. Would imagine the s2000 is the same. Tony
