  1. We've just called them, and pencilled in the Firewater lodge for us - the rest of you's had better bl**** turn up! The Argyle roads are fantastic fun and dead quiet.

  2. Dave, just pulled apart my carbon-canned silencer. It's a 3" one, 6" diameter and 2ft long. Weights are: Outer tube: 320g End caps: 1092g Wadding (far too much was in there): 1310g Perforated tube: 994g Mounting bracket (pretty chunky): 195g Looks like I mis-remembered the weight too, that lot comes to 3.9kg rather than 4.9. So it looks like you're right... the weight is 'everywhere'. Not really much weight to save (with the carbon sleeve) except titanium end caps and perforated sleeve! Edit: just did a weight calculation for stainless outer sleeve in same dimensions of 1mm thickness, comes to 2.27kg!

  3. Good stuff - thanks for taking the time to do that. Very cool. I've ordered a SuperTrapp and it's going to arrive today. I hope to get a bracket made for it very soon so that I can test it. The claimed weight is 3.4 kg without whatever bracket I make for it so it's pretty light. My concern is that it will be louder than I want and only time will tell. It cost $210 shipped so it's not too spendy. I'll be sure to report back with the actual weights and how loud it is....or isn't. dave

  5. It was excellent, interesting driving standards and track surface. Not sure if one contributed to the other :-)

  7. It really depends on if you want convenience of a bolt on part or if your willing to fabricate or have made stuff your self. I think the starter kit comes with golf rear uprights is that correct? There's a post in my sport 250 build thread that details all the bits you'll need for golf rear brakes at half the cost of the westfield rear calipers. Steering rack is mk2 escort can be had from loads of places for half factory cost as can the front alloy uprights. If an fw body then the fuel tank and cradle are bespoke and probably worth getting from the factory. But again money can be saved getting a custom tank made. Front brake kits are available off the shelf from numerous suppliers. If you want a carbon exhaust can this will be needed from the factory as no where else does them in that size. Stuff like the windscreen and side screens are factory only items but do come up for sale used on occasion. Wiring looms are factory items but can be done your self if your feeling brave. There's a million ways of going about building one of these cars just depends on your preference really.

  9. Oh..... Sometime..... I definitely will be. Hopefully in a competitive Westie, with a driver that thinks he could be competitive but may not be

  11. Dont sing the victory tune yet... wait to the target times... Just kidding. It looks really apealing. Not sure yet about may plans for next year... They may go from "not even have a license" to go for it 100%, still to deciede early next year... but I really hope I will be able to come to put some order in the roadgoing classes... thoose newbies are starting to go fast, and someone has to stop them.

  14. Well that was interesting! Turned out that the Church Mouse is undergoing a major refurb and is shut! so we hastily decamped next door to the Chester Moor instead. Have to say it appears to be a better venue. Food was good and they were very accommodating. I think we may look to making this a more permanent fixture.
