  1. There's not much to show for the last couple of weekends work as I've mainly been fettling fibreglass although yesterday was spent learning to weld. I haven't used a welder properly since I served my engineering apprenticeship back in 1995 and although I have used one now and again for the occasional small job I've never felt confident enough to tackle anything too difficult or safety critical so I signed myself up on a one day training course will Allied Welding in Benfleet so I'd be able to do a few more of the welding jobs on the JW4. For anyone thinking of learning I can thoroughly recommend their courses. https://www.alliedwelding.co.uk/product-category/welding-centre/?v=79cba1185463 Back to fettling the JW4 bodywork and the first job last weekend was to release the remaining body parts from the moulds. Its suprising how long this took with the 60+ nuts and bolts to split and then close the various parts of the moulds. Today Was mostly spent on the lower body and thus has been on and off the car more times than I care to remember with marking and cutting for the wishbones and to clear the chassis tubes but by lunchtime I was finally happy with the fit so gave it a final sand and polish then (hopefully) fitted it for the last time. Light was beginning to fade by early afternoon, just enough time to make a start on the upper body but I ran out of time before I could finish it properly and I had to leave the fitting around the roll hoop for another day.

  2. Thanks for all the comments and the video was absolutely perfect because that is basically what I will be doing. I wasn’t keen on the thought of trying to jack the front up and down but if I’m just jacking the back, perfect. It'll be cheaper dollies opposed to hydraulic ones. Thankyou for everyone’s input

  3. Could you fit a double bend in before the box, as below. ( any excuse to post a flamey pic! )

  4. If you have a hard and smooth floor, the wheel dollies Kevin linked to are perfect

  9. I just checked my notes. My 6.25" Raceco purchased in 2004 weighed 4.1 kg. It looks like they only offer the 7.25" version these days, so I suspect the new ones are a bit heavier. -John

  11. I did think that as I posted..I should have kept quiet.. intact silencer quiet enough for all tracks except one sensor at Bedford, which need an early change up.. I am busy painting the new garage floor tomorrow..otherwise I would have thought about taking it off and weighing it.... But will post if I do take it off in near future.. I have had issues though with the silencer rubbing on the track around certain left handers so have had to repair a couple of times.. need to sort silencer position or the body roll on track!

  12. Didn't want to trigger the swear filter. As title, this is as-new, fitted but never used as the missus didn't like the feel of it so it was immediately removed....yes, I know, stop sniggering at the back.... £30 inc post to mainland UK.

  13. Sorry I'm already booked.. Birthday events over the weekend. I must attend one of these soon. If only to hear Julie to use the term 'oh it's the German sausage man' as a greeting.
