  1. Westfield owner was driving down the road and his car breaks down near a monastery. He goes to the monastery, knocks on the door, and says, "My car broke down. Do you think I could stay the night?"The monks graciously accept him, feed him dinner, even fix his car. As the man tries to fall asleep, he hears a strange sound. A sound unlike anything he's ever heard before. The Sirens that nearly seduced Odysseus into crashing his ship comes to his mind. He doesn't sleep that night. He tosses and turns trying to figure out what could possibly be making such a seductive sound. The next morning, he asks the monks what the sound was, but they say, "We can't tell you. You're not a monk." Distraught, the man is forced to leave.Years later, after never being able to forget that sound, the man goes back to the monastery and pleads for the answer again. The monks reply, "We can't tell you. You're not a monk."The man sa,ys, "If the only way I can find out what is making that beautiful sound is to become a monk, then please, make me a monk."The monks reply, "You must travel the earth and tell us how many blades of grass there are and the exact number of grains of sand. When you find these answers, you will have become a monk."The man sets about his task. After years of searching he returns as a gray-haired old man and knocks on the door of the monastery. A monk answers. He is taken before a gathering of all the monks."In my quest to find what makes that beautiful sound, I traveled the earth and have found what you asked for: By design, the world is in a state of perpetual change. Only God knows what you ask. All a man can know is himself, and only then if he is honest and reflective and willing to strip away self deception."The monks reply, "Congratulations. You have become a monk. We shall now show you the way to the mystery of the sacred sound."The monks lead the man to a wooden door, where the head monk says, "The sound is beyond that door."The monks give him the key, and he opens the door. Behind the wooden door is another door made of stone. The man is given the key to the stone door and he opens it, only to find a door made of ruby. And so it went that he needed keys to doors of emerald, pearl and diamond. Finally, they come to a door made of solid gold. The sound has become very clear and definite. The monks say, "This is the last key to the last door."The man is apprehensive to no end. His life's wish is behind that door! With trembling hands, he unlocks the door, turns the knob, and slowly pushes the door open. Falling to his knees, he is utterly amazed to discover the source of that haunting and seductive sound......But, of course, I can't tell you what it is because you're not a monk.

  2. Thank you to everyone that responded to my post, even if it wasn't with the correct answer , but I hope you are all enjoying your other activities. Here is a little look at our day if you are interested. I reckon I could just about fit 10 more Westfields in this car park, if we all breathe in Not so sure about on this sofa though, you lot are far too fat and this fire had my name on it It was decent enough to sit outside even So I did! Next we went in search of cake And found it. Do you like chocolate orange? well then you would definitely like this cake Keeping with the orange theme, we went in search of colourful trees Love and hugs to everyone and hope to see you all soon

  4. Quick update - as mentioned before, I had a lovely MK1 MX5 which Sophia and I enjoyed thoroughly - a fantastic car for high days and dry days This went to @AdamR and was replaced with something a little unorthodox (and supplied by Adam!)... I kept the competitive urge going with some sprints and hillclimbs in my dad's mini, quite a successful start to the season with a new class record in the up to 1400cc road going class at Gurston Down, followed by a new class record at Llandow, but the season got cut short with a bump at Charmouth Then the most utterly incredible experience of my life: an intensely generous offer to warm the tyres for @Paul Morcom in his wonderful Swift SE Formula Ford. I can honestly say this was the scariest, most daunting experience that turned into one of the most fun weekends ever! Sitting on the start line at Blyton, having never driven the car before, it was more than once that I thought "what on earth am I doing??"! But once I got the grips of the gearbox, it all worked out pretty well with some trophies to boot. A mega thanks again to Paul for that once in a lifetime opportunity - I will never forget it. All the while the track hack Mazda MX-5 that I co-own with @Marto303, affectionately known as the Silver S***ter kept its unflinching value for money ethos alive with plenty of trackdays, lapping up the abuse. It even got a spin at a Javelin sprint event at Snetterton as a season ender, and even somehow managed to come second in class. A piece of crap car like that, on ancient worn out tyres, was not supposed to be able to do that!!! And that pretty much brings us up to date. Super excited about what 2019 will bring from a competitive perspective but options still open. Still umming and arring about what to buy as a toy car now the garage is empty, but not in any particular rush as the garage has to be cleared out first. Decisions, decisions....

  6. While my Bonnet is off and as I was bored today I went into the garage and decided to take the radiator off .As I’ve said before I am a total beginner to thie mechanical side of things but found it surprisingly easy and enjoyable .I’ve got an oil cooler mounted to the front and as I wasn’t sure if the existing fan ,brackets ,thermostat ,and hoses would work on the Coolex rad ,I decided to jump in the car with it and drive the hour to Nottingham to their Premises . When I got there, the owner ,Steve was on reception .He was a true gent and showed me the Coolex rad and answered all my questions. The Spall fan on my old rad was slightly bigger than the radiator itself and he said it would be possible to weld a couple of brackets on to make it work if I wanted to leave it with him .I said I’d happily go for the rad with fan fitted option however Most of the staff were at a car show in Birmingham with the entire stock of Radiators with fans already mounted . He offered me a cup of tea and said if I didn’t mind waiting for half an hour he would get a radiator welded up with a couple of brackets and fit a fan .When the new radiator appeared he had fitted the thermostat and blanked off the return tube on the top ,my old one had a screw blanking it off . I just thought I’d say a big thanks to Steve and give him a mention ,in a day and age of internet sales and correspondence it’s good to know you can still turn up ,walk in and receive such good service . Im planning on fitting it tomorrow so may have a few questions

  7. I'm in the same boat only the lad is 18. He thinks he's a pro now as hes just got his 1st years ncb. He's desperate to get a go when it's on the road. I'd like to get him into the westy experience, just maybe not mine I've told him to go away and come back with some RWD experience.

  10. Zetecs were designed by Ford to use OAT coolant, which in theory is the red stuff. Some 'may' question this but if you went to a motor factors and asked they would point at OAT. 'If ' you wanted to change coolant to blue , which I wouldnt recommend , as the system already potentially has OAT , you must totally flush and clean the system out to being completely clear of it as they dont like being mixed.

  11. I's also recommend removing the cardboard off the front to give better airflow too

  14. Hi Steve, You can get either red or blue anti freeze. Ready mixed or mix to the ratio as per the instructions on the container (typically 25-33% anti freeze to water, for UK winter). Just ensure it's suitable for an alloy engine given you've got a nice shiny ali rad . Others may be better placed to advise on bleeding for your engine. I've got an electric water pump, so can bleed without running the engine. Best to massage hoses and try to 'burb' air out as the engine warms up and the thermostat starts to open,, you may need to top up coolant a few times until you've got all the air bled out. Some engines are easier to bleed than others. ID=inside diameter. You should find the spiggot on the rad and the coolant tank to be 8mm OD (outside diameter). I doubt you'll get it in Halfords but most good motor factors should sell it by the metre.

  15. Great service with a smile! The new rad has the fan mounted much closer to the cores, which will mean far less air is escaping! Much better!

  16. There we were just a couple of hours ago, relaxing by the pool of our Lanzarote villa-let just out of town, when I heard a hot car idling. Poked my head up to see a Porsche tarmac rally car about 100 metres away. Hmmm, what's he up to? Looked to the left to see the start of a special stage start line! He's waiting before the end control of the touring stage so that he doesn't clock in too early. From the villa we could see about the first km of the special stage before the cars disappeared over the brow. The field was the usual mix of Spanish tarmac cars - Porsche, Meganes, 106s and Saxos etc. A lowered RAV4! Several old-school M3's - I've never been a fan of BMWs, but the raucous sound of a racing straight 6 is blood-curdling! If you want a nice villa to let in Lanzarote, you couldn't go wrong with this one! Three bedrooms, just out of town on it's own rural plot, great heated pool with enough privacy for no tan lines, and all for £500/wk, two people self catering (£50 per extra person). Owned by an English couple, let out when they aren't using it. www.lanzarotevilladavella.com

  19. Overall it looks ok. But when you look more closely at the chair legs Now do you see what I'm talking about? would you put up with that? I've spent all my working life in the high quality finishing industry, twenty years ago I laid an Amtico floor on the same sort of substrate, I latex screened it myself then laid the Amtico, even if I do say so I made pretty good job of it. Now I'm pushing seventy I didn't fancy a week on my knees so I called in a professional, I paid a professional price and I expected a professional job. I know I could have done a better job myself Thats why I screwed the guy that did it, and when it was pointed out to him his attitude stunk.

  20. Success, well sort of..... I went down the small claims court route, there you have two options. 1: Take them to court and argue it out with them, if they turn up. 2: Online, fill in a form giving all your evidence, timeline, letters, photos etc, then they decide whether it needs a hearing or they can deal with it without a hearing, this is the cheapest option, £70 up front, this is what i chose, that was four weeks ago. I claimed a full refund of £795 plus £500 to cover the cost of returning my floor to its original condition, then i could start again. I heard nothing until yesterday when a cheque for £795 landed on the doormat, no letter, nothing just the cheque, from the retailer not the subby. i suppose they were told to refund me what i had spent and forget about it, and that's what i intend to do The floor looks fine and if i didn't tell you about it you wouldn't know until you sat down for dinner and felt like you were on a rocking chair. So in summary i've got a £795 floor for £70, i think i can live with that for now. I hope the cheque doesn't bounce
