  4. Thanks Thrustyjust! Great to see you again and thanks for the photo I must say, it was easier climbing into the Westy than it was getting back out again in my current condition haha! Look forward to following the thread for future meets around the club. Don't forget to say hello at the presentation evening everyone! Carlie

  6. Anyway, Round One. Today I have paid a visit to Carlie at A Plan. Now some of you have already known of this visit , from the 'banter' I was given on another thread. So, over toast and tea for breakfast, I had to quickly scribble a few questions to ask her when I popped in. I was asked to bring the Westie down to the shop, as they wanted a new picture of another car , hopefully to be used for their adverts for next year. So, apparently , I was heard a way off before parking up . Nothing like making a bit of an entrance, I suppose. I was asked to park out front , so can push the car to the right spot. So, after a few photos involving Carlie avoiding the traffic on the A4 and the photoshoot of a lady expecting ( yes, you read it here first) and never thought I would see a pregnant lady clamber into the car for a photo !, we headed indoors for interrogation. So Carlie , what is your job title ? I am an insurance consultant and marketing manager for A Plan. How long have you worked at A Plan ? I have been here for 2 1/2 years now Age ? Yes, I know , not I am not printing it !! Current Car ? I have a Mini Cooper JCW Convertible . Dream Car ? I wouldnt mind a 60's Mustang , one day !! Any stories to tell in the insurance world ? Just the usual stuff really. We do seem to have people who seem to think their cars are worth far more than they actually are, which can be interesting , when we discuss it with them. Pints or Halves ? Er............... Pints Future Things ? Being a mum and also wouldnt mind having a kit car myself. Weird cravings in you current state ? I seem to have a liking for Olives, even though I have never liked them Carbon Fibre ? No, not at the moment. The only bits I can find for the Mini is black and I want red stuff to match the rest of the car. So, I hope with the mods you do inform your insurance company ? Oh, yes, of course I will So, with my hurried questions answered, I bid farewell. I believe you will be seeing Carlie at the awards event soon, so make sure you offer her a chair or she will bring the big bouncy ball hidden under the front desk to give her comfort. Oh and thanks for chocolates and cuppa. Very kind of A Plan, who are great people and lucky to have them locally and also as a main sponsor for our club.

  11. Oi, get your balanced opinion off this EBC bashing thread!! Sensible balanced opinions not welcome on forum threads!

  12. Are you buying a kit or a built car ? Either way, I would get decent flooring down , as working on our cars invariably either breaks your back bending over or more than likely kneeling down and working on it. So best to insulate against the cold concrete floor . Not sure what the roof of your garage is, but I boarded and plaster boarded it out, so I had storage and also helps stop dirt and dust building on everything in the garage. Just a couple of ideas anyway.

  14. My advice never was IGNORE THE CAR... (that is what i would do)... my advice was "check everything because something doesn't adds up..." And to be honest, this was the best advice that was given to that tread, and is the bit here and there you keep forgetting... Everyone got stuck to the point that I do discard a listing with EBC it if I'm looking for something fully developed, witch is not always the case (believe it or not... I buy other cars outside the westfield world, and I've rebuilt from scratch a kit car by myself... not my choice anymore). I never said back there, nor now... "don't buy it, has EBC" I threw and opinion there saying "check everything well as have parts that shouldn't be there if is as good as everyone says". I really think I did a huge spanglish effort to explain that, but no-one saw it, and you keep ignoring it. And is not an small detail. You can't go fast, if you cant brake, therefore, you cant corner fast so who knows how the setup is, and therfore you can't push the engine to the limits, so you don't know if its reliable or if the oil and the coolant will be pipping hot after half a lap, therefore you know nothing about the car because what the listing says isn't true. That is my decision making process if I'm looking for something fully developed. Adam appreciates his life and my friendship... so he won't do that.

  16. I was half joking... but now that you're going deeper in the topic; The point (i don't care if someone agrees or not) is that I stop reading an advertisement of a car that is sold as fully developed to be the best it can be, track proven and so one... and then in the listing you find EBC (in that special point we was talking about an allegedly f***ing amazing car, fairly powerful and fast that was really respected by everyone and was well proven... and I said, it can't be that fast, or can't be that proven with this pads, be aware that something doesn't adds up) . Therefore, the car may or may not be well developed, but for sure will not be track proven, as you will be unable to actually do something decent with this brakes on track for more than one lap. This fact was considered stupid that implies the one who thinks like this have an stupid mindset. I won't deny I felt offended back then, because I was honestly trying to give good advice. Not about the EBC themselves, more about that "check it all as something doesn't adds up..." now I just laugh about it. (I don't even remember who said what back there, and I will not retrieve the topic, as I remember the content, so nothing personal against anyone)

  17. If they are 4 pots, then the pads are a modified Lotus Elise pad . For the rears, leave as standard.

  26. The 'main' idea of this was to meet other members, but just happened I was asked to let my car be photo'd outside their shop, so thought I would try this on A Plan first . Carlie 'is' going to be on here probably next week, if I link the thread to her, so please be polite and nice . You can edit your posts if you wish. I do have a list of potential members , in my head currently , but as I said, weather and time of year is against my plan. I just am trying something new. Something to develop into a more interesting thread and focus on individuals involved with the club . There is a lot of members here but only a few attempt to try different things to write about especially on these dark miserable non driving months.

  29. Just to strike a balance. I wouldn't be without my indoor cover. My garage has rafters and lots of stuff stored above, painting the walls and floor simply doesn't help. I bought my new stormforce (kitcar) cover off Ebay for £20. You just need to be lucky with your timing.
