  7. Thank you @NigelO for your submission. I know this competition is about having the highest mileage, but that is just the winning bit, it's the taking part that is the important bit. I thought we could all have a giggle about how disgracefully low some of the mileages are, just for a laugh and a bit of light hearted fun. Life is all serious and it's nice sometimes to come onto this forum and absorb yourself in your love of cars and forget everything else. Credit here definitely goes to @Mark (smokey mow), that's the spirit, hopefully you will encourage others to get posting and you never know, you might even win a cabbage!

  8. Anyway, Round One. Today I have paid a visit to Carlie at A Plan. Now some of you have already known of this visit , from the 'banter' I was given on another thread. So, over toast and tea for breakfast, I had to quickly scribble a few questions to ask her when I popped in. I was asked to bring the Westie down to the shop, as they wanted a new picture of another car , hopefully to be used for their adverts for next year. So, apparently , I was heard a way off before parking up . Nothing like making a bit of an entrance, I suppose. I was asked to park out front , so can push the car to the right spot. So, after a few photos involving Carlie avoiding the traffic on the A4 and the photoshoot of a lady expecting ( yes, you read it here first) and never thought I would see a pregnant lady clamber into the car for a photo !, we headed indoors for interrogation. So Carlie , what is your job title ? I am an insurance consultant and marketing manager for A Plan. How long have you worked at A Plan ? I have been here for 2 1/2 years now Age ? Yes, I know , not I am not printing it !! Current Car ? I have a Mini Cooper JCW Convertible . Dream Car ? I wouldnt mind a 60's Mustang , one day !! Any stories to tell in the insurance world ? Just the usual stuff really. We do seem to have people who seem to think their cars are worth far more than they actually are, which can be interesting , when we discuss it with them. Pints or Halves ? Er............... Pints Future Things ? Being a mum and also wouldnt mind having a kit car myself. Weird cravings in you current state ? I seem to have a liking for Olives, even though I have never liked them Carbon Fibre ? No, not at the moment. The only bits I can find for the Mini is black and I want red stuff to match the rest of the car. So, I hope with the mods you do inform your insurance company ? Oh, yes, of course I will So, with my hurried questions answered, I bid farewell. I believe you will be seeing Carlie at the awards event soon, so make sure you offer her a chair or she will bring the big bouncy ball hidden under the front desk to give her comfort. Oh and thanks for chocolates and cuppa. Very kind of A Plan, who are great people and lucky to have them locally and also as a main sponsor for our club.

  10. I was out for nearly 3 hours today. It was cold and brisk but still brilliant in the sun. Made 2 flasks of coffee and it was lovely sat on the sea front. You just cannot beat being out on a day like today. Roll on winter.

  11. So, something new I had thought to do. In real truth its just an excuse to go and drive my car to meet other members and chat cars and stuff. I am obviously not starting this thread at the right time of year, but hopefully I can meet up throughout the future years, at different places and talk mainly cars in an off the cuff interview with fellow members and people who are involved with WSCC . You can tell me to sod off if you want and if you think I am going to Dufftown for an hours chat @Gary Taylor - Scotland AO , however much I would like to, Skype may take a precedence to driving. I hope it may answer a few questions of aspirations and dreams that people may have within the club. I will try my best to get the first one done later today, so watch this space.

  16. I said once, that I normally discard track focused cars that are listed with EBC as that means they have not been driven properly... You won't stop a car with EBC, and therefore isn't a reliable or a well proven track car... Apparently I was stupid with this mindset, but I've not seen anyone standing up for them... As said before, they are good for going to the supermarket and back.

  18. Yeah... I've no doubt about it... but if I buy it really rough, saves me a track day and a few excursions to the grass and the tyre wall.

  19. Just had this off a organiser; Hi Kev It is the same weekend as the Retro Show but it’s own show in another section of the park. More details will follow this week. Santa Pod are setting up KITFEST tickets separately, so hang fire for a week if your looking to book. Will be a great weekend. Regards Robert

  23. Just got home from the show, many thanks to Colin for booking and arranging everything. The weather was best on Saturday with good numbers and a very full car park of classic/kit cars. Sunday was mostly drizzle/rain but still good numbers even though the classic/kit cars in the car park were fewer.

  25. I've just submitted my MOT certificate - one of my fears about buying a Westie was that it would just sit in the garage collecting MOT certificates with very small mileage increments. Perhaps it's the "new-ness" of the Westie experience, and maybe it's the draw of some rather entertaining runs over the Peak District, but I seem to have done rather more miles than I thought I would...

  26. It’s difficult with competitions like this. An official way to corroborate the mileage is required and MOT to MOT is the most straightforward way of doing that. (Bearing in mind that prizes are donated by those outside the WSCC.) No slur intended, but (what I hope at least are) humorous comments like the one proceeding this, show why it would be difficult for a club official to take on any kind of inspection role, as occasionally gets suggested. The other thing to remember, is that this started as a bit of fun organised and run entirely by one AO. So if you have an idea that could be run for those with newer cars, and are up for running it, do forward your suggestion on to your AO, or the committee directly and we’ll look in to it - we love new ideas!

  28. Yes bit of Apartheid for us new builders! I am glad committee members are not allowed, as I remember a post by a very senior member “clocking “there mileage with a power drill! Shall I get my coat?
